no whining just facts ....  :o Hell we didn't whine ... just played bigger teams to get better .... and when we did lose ... gave the props to the only team to beat us ... who by the way is playing in Dallas today ... In 2012, when we move back down to 2A and are placed in your district, I will take special pleasure in our team beating EC ... especially with posers such as yourself .....
 2.

... I drive through Winnie ... you are on I-10, have more business ... bigger school ...
That is the most TORTURED LOGIC ever stated. You cannot , I repeat CANNOT size a school up due to "businesses" along I-10. If Winnie was located OFF I-10, like Buna or Anahuac or Warren for example, there would not be any "I-10" businesses. Corporations put franchises in logistical locations for specific reasons. Primarily, Winnie is halfway between Beaumont and Baytown, so, inevitably franchises will pop up there. Its a good stopping point for travelers. You should judge solely by attendance, period. This thing reminds me of the idiotic comment I heard from a frustrated fan of a team EC had just beat in a playoff game years ago: "EC must be cheating--they have TWO car dealerships there!"  ::)  Thats terribly stupid. Oh, BTW, both dealerships have closed. Wildcat11, does this mean EC drops to 1A?   :D
Ya know was trying to be nice .. even complemented your kid ... was justed stating that If ya just drove through the town you would see you have a bigger town ... Secondly, I was making no excuse for Kirbyville for nothing ... every accomplishment made by the boys from Kirbyville was earned by those kids and the desire and heart of those kids ... We live next to Jasper and Newton so ya know ya got t bring it to get it ... If you want to go at it I will ... Be thankful we are not in 2A (as we should be), and in YOUR district, or you would not even sniff at a district championship with Kirbyville in your district ... and I'm talking last year , next year, or the year after that ... Lets put your schedule up against ours and see who played the harder teams.. Don't see ya playing Vidor, Bridge City, WOS, Coldspring,Wills Point, do I ... Only common opponent was Newton, whom you beat in the first game after the death of Coach Barbay ... I know I was sitting on the Newton side for that game, because we were playing WOS the next night ... Jones impressed me ... the rest of the team was ok ... We beat Newton, soundly, with the legend coaching them ... So dont ruffle the feathers if ya dont want the truth ... and that's the bottom line .... ;D ;D ;D :o :o :o
 3.
Best I can Figure, Kirbyville is 3a, ...  EC is 2a. Therefore EC is a smaller school than Krbyville. I repeat small schools do not get the respect their larger counterparts do in the newspapers. This is due in part to smaller circulation (newspaper sales) and advertisement sales. As some others have stated, I am sure there were others from Kirbyville that deserved mantion but were not beceause they aren't nearly the high profile athlete as Ford.
Before you just look at the classification for schools .... need to do a little homework ... Kirbyville is a school with 2A numbers who is caught in 3A due to snapshot day in which we had less than 5 over the minimum for 3A ... probably have less than the minimum now ... I drive through Winnie ... you are on I-10, have more business ... bigger school ... Don't gripe about being the small school .. I posted on this site a problem regarding coverage of the smaller schools, was responded to, and I think the coverage is somewhat better ... We only got the respect because we earned it .... Ford gets the pub ... but if you look the are others from Kirbyville on the Team ... Cucancic as defensive back, Roth and Amaimo on the O Line, Breed as linebacker, Tyler on the D Line ... Don't gripe about whose on the team .... By the way, saw Jones play against Newton ... Great Quarterback and Leader, but same could be said about our QB ... who was the main reason we beat WOS .... he just didn't have to pass as much ...
 4.

Figure into the equation Jones missed the first three games to a high ankle sprain, and the strength of EC's district schedule his record/stats are just as impressive. Plus he was named Bmt Enterprise player of the week twice. Small schools just don't sell papers or ad space to get much notice.
Kirbyville is pretty small....L. Ford doesn't have a problem getting attention!!
Amen

 8.
Wish him the best of luck in the future. But, you don't seem to know Lamar's scholarship limits. Lamar only had two seniors. Everyone else is returning. They can only sign 13-15 players total. So, they can't sign a young man just to land another one. They need too much help in other areas of the team like OL and DL. This may tell you more about our scholarship limits. [Hidden Content]
The problem with recruiting all that junior college players is that very few are from this area ... To truly build a long term program ... gotta get those local high school kids ... brings in the local fans ... more money at the gate .... more long term success ... Lamar is smack in the middle of a hot bed of talent ... lets see how many local kids are signed .... count the JUCO recruits ... then talk to me about limits ... by the way if Ford does go to SFA, and not LU, I think it wont have anything to do with recruiting numbers or offers to friends ... If I was a SFA alum (and I am...Go Jacks..), The number I would show him when choosing between LU and SFA is the score this year ... What was it .... oh yeah ... 70 or 73 to 3 ......LOL

 13.
im gonna ask santa to have ford sign with LU.he'll leave the scholarship papers under the tree!!if se tx players stayed home we would be a top twenty fbs team.
The problem presented by Lamar University is that when recruiting they act as if they are a top team ... they are not ... they are building ... SFA is willing to look not only Ford, but other players from the Kirbyville team ... with possible scholarship offers to those other players ... this means a lot to a young man ... going to leave home ... may want a friendly face ... LU tells him that he could possiblly come to thier team ... LU offers the other players to possibly walk on ... (By the way the player they offered to walk on has over 200 hundred yards receiving in a losing effort on THIER Field)  ...  who would you choose ... may be academic though ... could end up anywhere ... Good kid, will be a heck of a player in college if he keeps it up .....
 14.

this thread was started with qb karrion morrisey so I will get back on subject....I think after watching him for a season he is part of the problem not the answer...he is out of position period....put him at running back...develop a qb that can read a defence and can throw until that happens the football program will suck...
i 100% agree with you my friend!  i thought/said all year why wasnt middleton who is taller and was back up qb on varsity last season behind alvis but did a very good job when he came into the games!! their reasoning the current but thank GOD soon to be gone coaches used was that they wanted to utilize his speed to compliment armstrong being in the backfield but it pretty obvious as u know it would have complimented ben b etter with him as rb. dont get wrong karion brings talent and speed to the table he gave it heck with his effort this year.  yeah he played qb as freshman and it worked but totally different at the varsity level.  lmao one play this year the coaches used what i think should have been the backfield all year that being scott middleton at qb and karion and ben  in the backfield,  during the Center game the play gained 15 yds ! they changed it next play and never used it again.  WOW uh?
I would like to address this question ... If I may ... Morrisey .. from what I saw in our game would make a heck of a running back ... kind of like Irvine or Haywood in Kirbyville .. has that same build and running style ... The difference in coaching is what is going to be your downfall ... He is out of position ... The best example is what happened last year with Kirbyville and the quarterback position ...Cucancic had played the position (and had been the starter) since a small boy (peewee, junior high, freshman\JV). When you guys beat us last year he was the quarterback and it was obvious that his skills set was not matched to be the starting quarterback at the varsity level (he is a terrific runner and athlete, ok passer ... sound familiar) ... Jones was the starting WR ... The coaches made a switch ... Jones (while not the athlete Cucancic is, has a cannon for an arm) was moved to QB .... Cucancic is moved to receiver ... both blossomed into thier roles ... as you guys can attest ... sign of a good coach is when they are willing to change, adjust ... Morrisey could be one of the best ... needs to be a RB
UUM ... how many titles have ya won in the last ten years ...NONE ... how many title games ... ONE ... How many title games for Kirbyville ... TWO ... we went three rounds in 3A ... where were you ... Oh, I know at home .. playing with your little round balls ... Game, set, match  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

You also said yall was going to beat us this year......hmmmm let me see. 63-8 dont that sound familiar?
now as i am LMAO let make something familiar to u and all kville fans(because i know yall try to block it from your minds)  35-8-4  the overall record of jasper/kville games.  we could lose the next 27 years in a row before yall even things up.......lol now that it is weak!! yes yall have had a helluva run the past few years due to being blessed with some very talented young men, so hats to you for that!! so when yall doing all u smack talking (as yall like to do) i remind u that your football program isnt and wont ever be what Jasper's is and that being one of the the top in the entire state at any level in all time wins and playoff appearances............!
I grew up in this area ... I remember the powerhouses of yesteryear ... But it seems yall are living of the past ... I liken Jasper's program to Michigan ... was a terror for years ... everyone was afraid of them ... then they have gone to seed ... changed coaches ... lack of focus ... too many people trying to run the program ... stop living in the past ... hell we know we were bad for a long time .. hell with the size of your school and the size of ours you SHOULD own us ... but ya dont .. so try another argument before ya come up with that ... whats the record the last 4 years against us ... oh yeah  (1 - 3) ... Bottom line .. because Big Wildcat said so

 21.
You IMO Gilbert wasn't the difference come on now you guys must don't know football he put up 235 rushing yards against the suppose to be number 2 are 3 ranked team!!!! Are you serious!!! He made Key plays & key runs and he sealed the game!! As for Coty Cummings he was a Bull out there Both of our backs had a field day on you guys "D"!!! & as far as foul play goes # 33 should have been ejected a long time ago we can tell you guys are not use to losing & dont like it which is understandable but he really needs to learn how to control his temper!!! We should have ranned sweep all night long you couldnt have stopped it!!! O yea one more thing,235 yards for Gilbert & thats not counting the one they called back so the final score should have been 35 to 20 plus two more points that they took away also, a quick recap if our secondary would have stepped up just like our Run Deffense did i dont think you guys woul have scored at all!! so im done with that topic(you guys are jokes no offense to k-ville players but this is towards the people thats on these blogs saying who wasnt the difference maker in the game!! ) lets talk about Athens!!!!
You know what .. dont take my advice ... play that way against Athens and YOU will be flagged and it will end up costing ya the game and you will be sitting at home just like Kirbyville is ... IF YOU can read all the post ...  you would see I was not taking anything away from Gilbert ... just giving props to Cummings ... dont be such a jackhole ... makes it hard to root for ya ... will though because I know Barbay and believe it or not I want you to win ....
 22.
First I'll just say that one or two fans on a sports forum doesn't speak for or represent an entire fan base...I've seen a few crazy things said on both sides... As far as dirty plays and cheap shots go, they're part of the game...It happens...It's always went on and will continue to...It's a very violent and emotional game and it's not uncommon for a players emotions to get the best of them from time to time...It happens at all levels...Usually the player(s) that can harness those emotions the best (including not retaliating outside the normal scope of play) has the best chance of coming out on top and not getting potentially game changing penalties called against them... I doubt either coaching staff condones dirty play, however, that doesn't mean that there isn't a player or two that isn't going to try doing something a little extra if they think no ones looking, can get away with it, or just lose their mind for a second... Kirbyville fans I like your passion and your ability to come on here and give props when due...Hopefully, we can make your only loss look even better by going all the way...
I was not meaning to take anything away from the win ... you won .. you will ... IMO .. go on to face Carthage or Brownwood for the championship ... I played the game in high school and college and was a lineman ... seen more than my share of dirty play .. probably particpated in more that a few myself while playing .. just want you guys to go all the way .. dont take these kind of chances or it eventually will come back to haunt you ... by the way to chs11 ... I didnt mention who was punched in the neck .. you stated the player .. kind of proves my point doesn't it
 23. I thnk you guys were highly over-rated team that haven't played nobody to stop you guy's running game sense the last time you played us all the hype about Ford you guys running back but he only had 65 yrds the whole game, but Gilbert on the other hand had 235!!! We should had beat you guys by way more not counting the last TD Gilbert scored that they called back in the two times we was on our goal line and couldn't score!!!  But please dont be sore losers come & watch us next week and wear your black & red with the Coldspring symbol!!! ha ha ha!!!
You talk alot of crap man....lets see what yall do next week. Anyways enjoy your first ever win over the Wildcats. We will be back next season  ;)
Yea u right i am just thursday you guys was on here doing the samething so i thought it would be only right to give you guys a taste of your on medicine,& yes lets see what we do next week one thing i do know for sure we will be playing!!!!!
A true test of a winner is how he handles victory along with defeat ... First of all I will give props to the Coldsprings players and staff for playing their heart out executing a brilliant game plan against Kirbyville.. IMO this difference maker was not gilbert ... but cummings ... runs with heart and toughness ... No excuse will come from this poster ... We didnt make adjustments when we needed to on offense and it came back to hurt us (we were passing at will at the beginning .. why not say with that...) ...  I will say this though ... you talk about how this could have be a bigger victory ... I beg to differ...at least two no calls on pass interference on plays that could have possibly turned the tide ... a fumble in which the ground caused the fumble ... but these ARE JUST EXCUSES, WE HAVE NONE ... so TRY and be a little classier and and be gracious in your post .. I dont think you have it in ya though ... OH and by the way you wont find any post in which i came on here and crowed about a possible Kirbyville victory because I knew it would be a tough game ....by the way one of the personal foul penalties were a result of incidents in which Coldspings player punched a guy in the neck ... I think this type of thing could eventually come back to haunt them ... play hard, but play clean ... and before ya say anything this is not the first time I read about this type of thing from your team ....
their were dirty plays on both sides, probably most of them couldn't be seen from the stands, so don't go their buddy, ur starting to sound like huffman fans
see proved my point ... didnt read the whole post did ya ... and by the way that play wasnt seen from the stands ... seen from the sidelines .. wasnt making excuses ... wasnt complaining ... you won ... keep this up and you'll get the same reputation as Kirbyville and WOS fans ... oh wait .. we at least try to be a little classy ... graciosness is certainly not your strong suit ...
 24. If Coldsprings plays like they did in the second half against Kirbyville I think a Barbay will be bringing home a state championship
