2. Would love to see Ford and Breed get these awards ... If you don't think Ford was the best Offensive talent in SETX ... Well dont know what else he can do .... as for Breed ... ask Bridge City or West Orange Stark if he isn't one of the best, if not the best ..  Won't hold my breath ... awards will probably go to the Beaumont area players ...
 3.
just wondering why he is trying so hard to leave kirbyville is it because he has no talent coming up?
You have to understand .. this has become an annual rite of passage in Kirbyville ... happens every year ... kind of get used to it though ... I have heard all the naysayers ... however, this was said in 2009 after Hazlewood, Musgrove, and Co left .... was said when Pierce Rhodes and his group graduated ... kids will come in August ready to play ... we still have talent coming up ... a bit young and raw ... but then again, so were Ford, Cucancic, Keene, Breed, etc.. in 2008, 2009 ... we'll wait and see ... keep telling ya don't pay attention to subvarsity ... smaller schools move best players up earlier ...
 4.
No doubt. I wasn't getting snippy. Yes you were in the playoffs and yes Jasper had a very poor year and wasn't in the playoffs, but do not b;ame the district for the playoff loss. Just sayin....
wasn't blaming the loss on the district ... Coldsprings was just a beast ... have said that before ... just saying we weren't quite as sharp ... really feel if we could have maintained the level of play after WOS ... may have been different ... want you guys to do better ... is great when north Jasper county is all good
 5.
boys basketball Jasper 107 kville 42  ouch!!!! just proves some from jasper's point Alvarez is a good football coach but not a good AD because all sports revolve around football...
Yeah ... ya beat a team with 1 senior starter, 1 junior starter, 1 senior reserve, and 9 sophomores ... only 2 players on this basketball were on varsity last year .... no starter from last year is playing ... so beat your chest Jasper ... you beat up the little kids ... Go ahead talk your smack about basketball, baseball, heck even track (with your 700 + students). Still have beat you in the king of sports in Texas (more times than not in last 6 years) ... Yeah that score was 63-8 ... and could have been more ...

I give you 2-8 ... evidence #2 ... being beat by Diboll, Orangefield, Center, Kirbyville and whoever else beat ya ... enough said ...
What is nonsense is to assume Jasper's kids don't have heart and discipline.  Bring in the right motivator and these kids will compete and beat those they should beat.  There is no shame in losing to Kirbyville these days but I agree we shouldn't lose to those others.
If you have read any post I have I have written before you would see this not as a shot at the kids ... goes to the coaches you have had ... I have lived in this area all my life ... I have friends whose children played for winning Jasper teams (state runner up team) ... I know Jasper has more, and better, athletes ... When you played Kirbyville last year, you could see the difference in the players (not talking the stars here ... Ford, Cucancic, Keene, Breed, Tyler, Jones, etc... were better). But the whole team had better players as a whole .. The reason you got beat that night was because of desire to win and discipline of the whole Kirbyville team .... Kirbyville players did thier jobs, did not beat their chest (too much), were held accountable for mistakes ... All I am saying is that by the very size of your school compared to the others and the availability of more athletes you SHOULD win these games ... you don't because of discipline and a burning desire to win (not just to have good statistics and look real good on the field) ... this is taught by the right coach ... you have just hired him ... I want Jasper to be good ... I want the 44-43 last second win against a strong Jasper team ... It's good for both schools ... Heck ... I think the overall problem for Kirbyville in the playoffs was the weakness of the district (we were firing on all cylinders after a tough predistrict ... then district ... oh well ... Carthage won state because they Survived their district ... YOU being better is good for YOU, good for US, Good for eveerybody ... just trying to be a good neighbor ....  ;D ;D
You didn't get beat in the playoffs because of a weak district. That is a weak excuse. If you are that good and the coach is that good and you were the better team that day, you should have won regardless of your district, period.
Hey ... Just trying to be nice ... wanna get snippy ... at least we were in the playoffs ...

 12.
I posted this on another topic, but maybe this poll is the best way to decide.... Just an idea, but i was going to try and do a kicking camp this summer. I am thinking about getting a few kickers to help me. kickers with experience ie. College, NFL, etc. Dont really want to charge for it except maybe a registration fee that will pay for the shirts that will be given out. The reason I am posting this, is to see if there is intrest in this locally. I would like your feedback, maybe ideas. Im not speaking for all schools in SETX, but im tired of seeing all these Austin area and Dallas area kickers getting all the awards/scholarships. We have plenty of talent here in SETX, just need specialized coaching. I would like to teach mechanics, mental toughness, and strenghth and conditioning, all for the kicking game only. The positions that I would offer at the camp would be placekicking, punting, snapping, and holding. kicking fieldgoals are a three headed monster. you have to have a good snapper, a holder that can adjust, and a kicker with the ability to improvise. All three have to work like a well oilled machine. Same for punting, you need a good snapper, great protection, and a punter that can alter his steps if he has to. These are the subjects I would like to have focused on. I have resourses to get the right coaches and instructors, but would also like volunteers to help. Like I said earlier, I would like yalls feedback on this and see if there would be enough intrest. Thanks
Not a joke ... got a son whose a heck of a soccer player, but we dont have a soccer program at school ... has never kicked a football, but was playing around with friends and kicked it in from about the 30 ... would be interested in sending him to your camp
 13.
Orangefield, Dibol, Center, Kirbyville, Huntington, 5 teams we should never loose too we lost to all five this year lets go get em coach!
You lost to better teams with better coaches and Discipline .... can have all the talent in the world .. no heart, no discpline, no wins ... Best example plays for Patriots ... would you take a less athletically talented Tom Brady or an out of this world athlete like any other recent 1st round draft pick QB ... whose at home, whose playing this weekend ... difference is heart and discipline ... Jasper will continue to lose until it finds the heart and discpline to win ... dont just expect to be any of those teams next year.
I just love the way Jasper automatically thinks .... gee new coach .... break out the champagne ... measure for the rings .... a program takes time ... Good luck Jasper ... got a ways to go .... especially with all that Talent ya got ... don't judge subvarsity scores or games as a gauge of future success ... most of the smaller school take all the talent and load the varsity ... that way the smaller schools (Center, Diboll, Kirbyville) have younger players contributing significantly on varsity for sometimes 3 or 4 years ... Good Luck you got a great coach ... let him build ... took Alvarez a while to install discipline and winning (couple of years).

Diboll and Center are very close to even....home team usually wins in those.
Whats up with Kirbyville? They have to have some athletes. Do they play football only?
All the seniors who play basketball for years are sitting this year out ... Kirbyville has one senior starter (good shooter), one senior reserve, on junior starter, rest is sophomores Yes. Sadly, that is all that is emphasized at Kirbyville.
I'm surpised at this.  They hired Brewster as Assistant Superintendent (?) recently.  He was the basketball coach at Buna, when they had a great rivalry with Kountze and he coached at Chapel Hill, where he took 1 or 2 teams to the State Tournament. And they have that incredible gym!  You would think that the focus would change at Kirbyville.
If jasper gets Alvarez, so be it ... don't talk down about a kid
 17. My son said that coach Alvarez never left the school during the day and he also said that coach Alvarez has shown no signs of leaving
 18.
alvarez will not be a good fit for jasper that being said i think he is a great coach.  the off cord from carthage would be better because he comes from a school more similar to jasper. Kirbyville has one good program and that is football.  Jasper's most sucessful program is baseball and that in it self would drive alvarez crazy and remember the new hc will be the ad.  Carthage has been sucessful in both baseball and football.
Been sitting here reading and need to address some of these issues ... Several things I would like to address ... First of all, IF you get Alvarez .... then congrats ... the big boys would have spent the money ... Kirbyville can't compete in this area ... couldn't even try ... we do the best with what we have got ... Great place to live, but does not have the resources to Secondly, I love how Jasper folks think that just getting a great coach automatically means wins ... generally it does ...  but great coaching has always had, and always will have, the main component of discipline ... discipline takes time ... this was the reason Jasper lost last year ... could see the lack of discipline during the game ... you guys have more kids to choose from ... bigger school, more kids ... have always had better athletes ... Sure, Kirbyville has some athletes to meet your top three or four ... but the difference the last several years has been discipline ... this is where our other players, who may not be as talented, can outplay yours .... Alvarez has laid this foundation and the kids have been under this system for a while ... Remember that Jasper still won for a while after Coach Wolcoviak (probably misspelled this) ... this was because the players were in his system and knew what to do to prepare ... this takes time to teach ... so don't think you can just pencil in wins over Kirbyville, Center, Diboll, etc... Third, If you knew anything about Kirbyville you would know that Kirbyville has tried to get great coaches for all sports .... Baseball coach won a state championship at Colmesniel ... Girl's basketball coach won a championship a Kountze, I believe .... Volleyball teams have always been good and coached well ... Tennis coaches are good and have won multiple district championships and have advanced to state ... Track coaches have won champiohships with other teams (newest track coach was at WOS last year and coached the state champ relay team) ... Heck, last year we even hired a basketball coach from Silsbee, but he left for bigger school and because of football we always have gotten of to a slow start at Basketball ... So go ahead and walk around like the big strutting DOG ... will see down the road what happens .... Lastly, If ya were to get Alvarez, (we shall see), then maybe the next in line, would look a little south and see a great school, with passion, great kids, and great, loyal fans ... may be cool to see a Barbay patrolling the sidelines at Kirbyville, or a true champion Bulldog there either ... If Alvarez stays, let the games begin
 19.
kville-kats what was your jv record? 8th grade and 7th grade records? and its not talent why hes going its money money money he want be here long.if he gets it hope he dont like in one of my post i said hes looking at the next level.thats why i said i didnt want jack i want someone who wants to stay. and build a good program thats why i would like to see larry upshaw,or one of the barbay brothers get it.and bigwildcat11 im not excited im very excited about the next 3 to 4 years cause we have some very talented kids coming up.and i hope you have some good kids coming up to play cause what i seen on the jv and 8th grade games this year that i watched its just not there and we had 5 freshman on our varsity.the freshman beat the kirbyville jv bad 56 to 24 and you gonna tell me you have talent COME ON MAN.
Didn't want to get into a pissing contest with ya ... If we go on talent alone, Kirbyville should never beat Jasper....I would lose the pissing contest ... Jasper has, and always will, have better athletes ...I have friends whose children have played for Jasper ... story is always the same .... The difference is desire, discipline, and coaching ... How do you explain us beating a team with Sean Weatherspoon on it (he was only a junior, but still...believe that was the year you played Gilmer in the best game EVER)...Last year when we won .... you could see better athletes on the Jasper team ... It was apparent ... The difference was that Kirbyville was disciplined and efficient ... did thier roles ... played hard every play ... that's what ya need ... and if Alvarez comes to ya ... you are right ... for the money ... we can't compete with that, couldn't even try ... By the way, don't look too hard at JV and 8th grade scores for an indication of varsity scores ... If I remember correctly, the Jasper team beat the Kirbyville boys, that were seniors, when the were in Junior High and on JV, I think ... we usually lose on these levels ... learning how to play .... didn't help much Jasper much this year ... just saying ....  Just like with boys playing ... gotta do the best with what ya got ...  :) ;)
Before ya get all excited about your freshman team beating a jv ... most of the better sophomore and junior players were already on varsity ... the team you beat had 17 players (with at least three of them playing in thier first game since 8th grade due to injuries, paying other sports ... Kirbyville has a heck of a freshman team ... with two good running backs .... heck of an 8th grade team ... with a good running and throwing QB ... Don't count your eggs before ya have them ... As for Alvarez leaving ... this rumor happens every year ... Great man, great coach ... has done wonders for our program .. returned it from the abyss ... he has laid a solid frame for Kirbyville ...
