4. Cleveland all the way! Too much talent for Silsbee to handle. Cleveland-51 8) Silsbee-13
 5. That is so true! the wolf I feed is the wolf that is good! Great post! ;D
 6.
Coldspring is OK? COME ON MAN! Kville wouldn't have even scored if our little sophomore corner hadn't have gotten caught looking inside, you should be thanking Barbay for having a heart and not running the score up or it woulda been closer to the 100 point victory  that somebody else predicted, give your kids credit, they did all they could do, but don't talk down on us like we are just OK, we're pretty dang good, and like Kville we will get better too, best of luck on the rest of the season.
Nobody from Kirbyville was talking down to Coldspirings ... If that's all it takes to get ya going man ... Good Golly .... Go ahead ... beat your chest .... Coldsprings played great .... Barbay is a great coach .... Gilbert is a great runner ... reminded me of another guy wearing number 1  and red and black .... Happy ??? ... As a fan of Kirbyville though .... I am proud of that group of young men .... They stuck with THIER Team, didn't quit...they got up and kept fighting ...you can't ask anymore of any group of young men ... A great quote from Theodore Roosevelt is "It is not the true measure of a MAN that he can stand victorious over another and yell to the world, but the bigger MAN is the one who gets up from being knocked down to fight again".
 7.
No offense to any of you Kirbyville fans (I am one myself) but I have seen them scrimmage both times and unless you watch them please dont set yourselves up for a serving of crow Kirbyville is rebuilding with an almost all around new look coaching staff i dont think they will compete with the better schools like WO-S or Coldsprings this year just saying
Yes ...we are struggling ... but I have also watched quite a few practices ... the improvement from day to day is apparent .... We are having to put together a rebuilt O line, due to the decision of some uperclassmen leaders who decided to leave, we have a quarterback who is in only his second start, a new backfield, ... These young men are working hard and will improve ... The defense has been fair, but is still working with a new secondary, new linebackers, and freshmen and sophomores playing an important roll ... I have said before..and I will say it again .... what you witnessed in the scrimmages is what it was ... Silsbee (a borderline 3A\4A school with double our student body), Ozan (triple our student body) facing a small 3A\2A school, with about 60 - 70 % of players who have never seen a snap on varsity. In case ya didn't notice ... some players played some on freshman and jv games before varsity scrimmage .. The coaches are working to see what they have ... these young men will fight through this ...
 8.
We as Kirbyville fans have to set different expectations this season. I have talked to some of the key players and to say the least morale is low. Attitude reflex leadership and our leadership needs some positive feedback. Part of the problem is ALL they are hearing is how bad they suck compared to the past few years. How would you like to cut your teeth playing on a team that did well and then your senior year people turn negative because things look tough. I for one can enjoy a hard fought, tough, smashmouth football game and take loss. More exciting to see than a 76 to 0 blowout win. I know we all want to win and the Cat's want it more than any fan. I want them to have a good safe season with the young men on varsity showing the underclassmen how its done. We can not expect the team to hold their heads up and fight for a win if all the fans can talk about is how down they are. I will be backing the Cats to make the playoffs. If that doesnt work out I will back them to have a winning season. If that doesnt work out I will back them to complete a pass or make a first down. I just want to see them play with some heart and anyone that cant be a fan with some heart isnt a fan at all. Make a point to tell the boys your proud of them when you see them. They have heard enough of the negativity to last the season.  Show the haters what you're made of boys!
Great post ... I think this was well said .... I have told everyone that I see that the group of young men who have stuck out two a days, stuck out the heat, worked through the injuries, who didn't quit because "they just ain't feeling it", should not only receive...but demand our respect ... people sit here and gripe and complain about this year being a down year ... well guess what... this kind of thing happens ... these young men are working hard ... they will get better ... they will fight with all thier heart ... show up friday Cat fans ... yell loud ... let them know you're there ... A REAL fan is not just there when you are winning ... a REAL fan sits in the stands in the heat, or rain, when your team is down ... AND tells the team ..Thank You ....
 9.
Silsbee was doing whatever they wanted during this scrimmage offensively and there defense wasnt to bad either. They played excellent on both sides of the ball and I expect a big season out of them. Kirbyville however has a lot of work to do they couldnt establish nothing offensivley and defensively they looked good at times then they give up big plays but other than a couple of long touchdowns and the quarterback scramble on silsbees first possesion the defense was good. If they dont pull together i'm with ryker on the 3-7 finish.
Saturday was what it was ... a test to see where both teams are .. Silsbee with a bunch of experienced players and a few new faces, with an established coach .... Silsbee looked good, even great at times ... Kirbyville, with a lot of new faces, with minimal experience at this level (at least 70 % of this team has never played a snap on varsity), an a new head coach, and coaching staff ... struggled ... No excuses, but this is what scrimmages and pre-district are for ... let's see where both teams are at by district .... Our QB has never played QB before ... this was his first game at QB ... the backup hasn't played QB since 8th grade ... and he's a senior ... another point .. I remember a east texas team a few years back going 3-7 in regular season and then hitting thier stride towards the end of the year and going deep into the playoffs .. have faith k'ville ...

May be a rough year next year during transition ... however, hopefully 2012 sees us going back down to 2A ... guess we would be have to fight Newton for district ..
Sounds like you are doubting EC to me. Last time I checked, EC is the reigning 2A Champions of SETX.   8)
Not doubting ... just stating facts ... and the only reason EC was district champs was because Kirbyville played with bigger boys of 3A ... If we were down in 2A last year ... EC would have been fighting for second in district ... EC would not even sniffed a win against Kirbyville ... And when we go back down to 2A .. and we should ... EC (who by the way seems to be looking for a coach also) will be fighting for third in district (behind Newton and Kirbyville).
 14.
Kirbyville's coaching situation is a lot more unstable than WOS. Kirbyville may have some talent returning, but someone has to coach these kids into a cohesive unit. WOS has the upper hand there. First Quarterback Club meeting of the year tomorrow in Newton with WT giving an outlook. I don't believe Kirbyville's defense will be as strong without WT.
While I have the utmost respect for WT ... I think all three major teams are in for a transition period. I think either Kirbyville or Newton would, again, give WOS a hard time ... If you haven't noticed from post on the board ... Both of our coaching transitions were substantially smoother and less political than either WOS or Jasper ... These type of things tend to adversely effect the program .. Hopefully all coaches do well ... but go ahead and doubt Kirbyville ... May be a rough year next year during transition ... however, hopefully 2012 sees us going back down to 2A ... guess we would be have to fight Newton for district ..

My intent is not to take anything away from SFA. I know they have a great program, but this was some of the worst self promotion from an athlete of this popularity Ive seen in a while.  If it was the intent to go to SFA from the start then it wouldnt be an issue.  I know for a fact that this was not the case the though.  I dont know if this was because of the time taken to make the decision has caused most schools to look elsewhere or if it was just a case of poor decision making.  SFA was in from the start,  Alabama, Texas A&M, and other largers schools began to make verbal offers and started to show intrest.  The decision was made to wait and see what other more popular schools jumped on board  (like TEXAS). In the end there was only two letters (Lamar and SFA). I think think there a lesson to be learned here for other young men.
Ryker since your a almighty moderator on this forum ... you'll probably kick me off ... or whatever you do ... but I think this post is totally classless ... this is a direct shot at an 18 year old young man .... that's wrong ...
This is also an open forum with the majority of post being opinions only, not facts like a news program. Ryker is entitled to his opinion, just as you are BigWildcat11. I think Ford was a good running back. Great is debatable, and in my view, not being 'great' is also backed up by his lack of D1 offers. This view differs from yours, I'm sure, but it is my opinion. He broke Bubba Bean's total yardage record, but never did I see anything in his play that made me think he was anywhere close to being the player Bubba was. Why is it wrong to state an opinion about an 18 year old? He would be the first to tell you, I'm sure, he is no longer a 'baby'. It's great to have dreams and hopes in life, but don't expect the world to share them or you will be sorely disappointed. Good luck to Ford and SFA.
We can sit here and debate great , good, etc ... All day long ... It's not the view ... It's the tone ... The timing ... I have generally respected your posts ... you seem well informed ... And you would be suprised by my views ... I didn't grow up here ... Grew up in Pineland blocking for the Weatherspoons during my high school years ... seen some good running backs ... seen some great ... watched Anthony Byerly in high school ... We should be celebrating the fact that small towns like Kirbyville and Newton can produce athletes like we've seen the last four years ... By the way ... Think it's great Bennett is going to MCNeese .... Would be cool to go to SFA\MCNeese game with starting running backs named Ford and Bennett  ....
 16.
Anyone notice all of a sudden, Ford "really isn't that good" after all.  I see the exact same sentiment in the Lamar sports thread. I know Ford and have no problem talking about this with him.  He knows how I feel and wouldnt be surprised at all I said the things I did.  I was simply making a obserations.  Thats it!!  Get over it! Ford knows I respect his decision and respect him as young adult!  I am a fan of Ford and look forward to continue to follow his career at the next level.  Give em heck Ford!!!
You know ... your right, this is America, your entitled to your opinion, just as I am ... I have done my best to never call out a kid when I do my posts .... and if I have .... I meant those comments with no vitriol (look it up Ryker .... you know I'm uneducated) ... But if doing that's okay with you ... go ahead ...   As for Ford ... he's a tough kid ... he will do well ... just remember you were 18 once ... HOW did you act at 18...
