Tuesday night Jan. 6th the Deweyville Pirates, (11 & 11), ( 1 & 1), traveled to Warren. Deweyville came away with the 69 to 59 victory over the Warriors. Score by quarter DV 17 31 54 69 WN 10 31 45 59 For the fifth game in a row the Pirates had at least four players score in double figures. Our rebounding continues to improve. Both teams played well. We are very proud of our Pirates.

On Friday Jan. 2nd the Deweyville Pirates (10 & 11), (0 & 1) traveled to High Island and won a hard fought game 78 to 65. High Island jumped out to an early 14 point lead before the Pirates poured it on, to take a two point lead into half time. The Deweyville Pirates traveled to the Spurger Invitational Basketball Tournament Monday Dec. 29th through Wed. Dec. 31st. Monday the Pirates lost the opener 61 to 76 against the host Spurger Pirates. Later that day Deweyville defeated Kirbyville 76 to 74 by an exciting buzzer beater by Dalton Estes. Tuesday the Pirates defeated Jaspers JV 81 to 72 and Wed. the Pirates, playing their best basketball, defeated West Hardin 79 to 52. For the tournament the Pirates went 3 & 1 for a second place showing with Keeton Addison and Dalton Estes making the all tournament team. Monday December 22nd the LCM Bears defeated the Deweyville Pirates 61 to 44. In a close back and forth game the first half, LCM pulled away in the fourth quarter when Deweyville only scored 5 points. On tuesday December 9th the Bridge City Cardinals Traveled to Deweyville and Defeated the Pirates (3&5) on a last second buzzer beater 75 to 73. In a game that saw the score go back in fourth during the final two quarters the Cardinals erased a 5 point lead to pull out the Victory. The story of the night for the Pirates was Dalton Estes with 25pts and 17 rebounds. On Tuesday November 25th the Deweyville Pirates 0 & 2 traveled to Nederland to play Sabine Pass. The Sharks came roaring out to take a 23 to 10 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Pirates pulled to within three with two minutes to go in regulation but just could not finish at the end. On friday November 21st the Deweyville Pirates traveled to Hamshire-Fannet. In a fast paced exiting game the Longhorns scored their last two points with no time remaining, to pull out the 83 to 82 victory, from the visiting Deweyville Pirates. At the end of one quarter the pirates led 17 to 16. At half they had extended their lead to 44 to 33. At the end of three the Pirates had pushed their lead to 62 to 48. The Longhorns stormed back to tie the game at 73, at the end of regulation, after Seniors Seth Williams, Dalton Estes, and Colby Caswell fouled out of the game.
