I was half-kidding about the WAC inviting UNT, UTA, LU, ASU and ULL.  I think the WAC may be in serious trouble now, which is too bad because if it goes away it will limit the options of LU, SHSU and others of moving up in the future.  I know this will never happen, but I'm for the WAC losing USU and SJSU and adding LU, ASU, ULL, maybe another Texas school or two, plus grabbing Wichita State and Missouri State from the MVC.  You'd have a pretty good basketball and baseball conference with potential to be a good football conference.  It won't happen for a number of reasons but I think it'd be a nice regional conference with potential.

I'm thinking about going to the game.  Is there going to be a section for Lamar fans?

Good move by TCU.  I wouldn't be surprised if the MWC invited Utah State, and if they do then aren't they basically the old WAC reincarnated? Maybe the WAC can hold on and invite Lamar, North Texas, Arkansas State and UL-Lafayette and UTA so the WAC can become the old SLC reincarnated. 

kenpom.com has Texas winning 95-62.  Texas tends to play down to it's opponents sometimes early in the season so maybe if LU gets hot from the outside and for some unexplainable reason they play half decent defense, LU can give pull an upset.  I also believe in the tooth fairy.  ;D

Ladies win again, beat UMKC 69-56.

55-39 LU at the half.  St. Gregory's shooting over 50%, not good.

Just looked at the box score.  Texas State was down 55-35 at the half then scored 73 points in the 2nd half and that wasn't enough to win the game.  And they just beat UTPA by 13 on the road a few days ago.  :o

LU wins 85-82.  Mike James scores 16 in his debut.  Harper had 19 I think.  UTPA made at least 11 3s but LU held on to win.  Texas State just beat them by over 10 on the road just last week so this isn't a great win but it's a win, especially since it's their 4 road game in a row.

The Sunday Beaumont Enterprise talked about the future of Lamar football.  They have dreams of playing in bowl games by 2016 but admit they have a lot of work to do.  Larry Tidwell said any conference they join would have to make geographic sense, which probably means they would not join the WAC.  I was surprised to read that they only sold about 5400 season tickets, I thought the amount was around 7K or 8K.

Maybe this team will be just like the 2008 team.  Start off slow, get hot in the middle of the season, then peeter out at the end.  I was thinking about going to the Texas game that's coming up by I don't want to see Lamar killed by 50 points.

SMU shooting 76% because of easy inside shots.  I think after 5 years it's now pretty obvious that Roc cannot coach.

Roc's team have never played good defense.  At least this year they'll be above average offensively.  20 wins is possible but mainly because of the weak schedule.

HS football is only king in SE Texas because Lamar has never had any great teams plus they haven't had football in 20+ years.  Put Lamar in a FBS conference and if they win 8+ games every year then Lamar football would be king.

I finally made it to a game.  Me and the kids had a great time.  A blowout always helps, even though it was against a terrible team.  I look forward to next year.

Lamar's not going to have much of an inside game this year.  I saw Canisius (future opponent) on TV last week and they have a 7-3 center so it should be interesting how well he does.  I have a feeling the whole season's going to be like this.

Big upset of the night: Nicholls State 62 LSU 53 Great win for the SLC even if LSU isn't that good this year.  Lamar and Nicholls should battle for the SLC East title. Texas State is getting blown out by Long Island in front of the WAC Commissioner.  They sure know how to make an impression.  ;D

But I thought Woodard was over his head?  :D
