The West Virginia head coach confirmed today they Jeremy Johnson is leaving the program:
Coach Bill Stewart confirmed on his radio show last night that third-string freshman quarterback Jeremy Johnson is leaving WVU.  Johnson has been dealing with homesickness all semester, and at one point this season updated his facebook page to say he was transferring to Baylor.  While that post has since been removed, it seems a likely landing spot for Johnson, since it is much closer to his hometown of Houston, Texas.
[Hidden Content]
Just a little trivia tid-bit:  Bill Stewart was the "Tight Ends/Tackles" coach for Arizona State back in 1988 when Lamar played them.
yeah, they beat LU by 11.(24-13)
And here it is:  [Hidden Content]
 2. Kyser was Tre Lynch's teammate on the Lancaster team that lost to Yates in the finals this past summer.  With 2 seniors and 8 juniors on the roster, Roc is going to have to win big these next two seasons if he wants to stick around, then he'll need to bring in another big class like this year.
 3. How about scheduling teams that people want to see?  The Texas Tech and BYU games from a few years ago drew some decent crowds.  Roc needs to stop scheduling these non-D1 teams and bring in some real teams.
 4.
this rb dude?  flunked out everwhere he's been...he gonna come to LU and suddenly decide to study? I think the kicker will be fine.
Was Woodard the coach at Navarro when Hall played there?  Hall is running out of chances so maybe he'll do what it takes to play for Woodard.
 5.
Yep, I can't disagree there. Lamar does indeed have nice facilities for football. The only thing missing is a indoor practice facility. Any donors out there?  ;D
Earlier this year I asked Woodard about an indoor facility when he did that online chat with the Beaumont Enterprise and he said Lamar doesn't need one, but I'm sure if someone ponied up the money they wouldn't turn them down.  Hopefully they'll have to expand the stadium soon due to demand.
 6.
"2nd arrest in as many weeks" we dont need stoners what this team is missing is a smack you in the face redneck LB.
I think Anthony Beard was going to fill that role until he got hurt.
 7. Hopefully the excitement of football will rollover into basketball.  Seems like students are getting more involved in all the sports on campus.
 8. Lamar can't go back to having 2-9 and 3-8 seasons.  They have to win to keep attendance up.
 9. This was posted on BaylorFans.com today by the same person from Silsbee:
The coaches can put all sorts of stipulations into a release. Most will do conference and opponets for the next coule of years, but they may try to stick it to him. He is still enrolled in school, now if he goes back I don't know. I hope he does. He needs at least 12 hours to transfer I think. He may have to end up JUCO. Not sure. Lamar is holding a spot for him. I would love to have him at BU.
10. Someone on a Baylorfans.com forum who says they are from Silsbee wrote this:
He is from Silsbee, where I live. He has not played at all this year, hell I would not have played him either after he talked about leaving. He should have never gone to WVU. The kid has mad skills. From a few coahces of his they say he is great at QB, but an even better corner. So good one swears he could play in the NFL at corner. My understanding is a lot of top 10 schools wanted him to switch, but he wants to be a QB. I hope he enrolls in the fall. He may end up at Lamar though. Just my thoughts. I'll see if I can get more info.
Then this:
After speaking to a few coaches they feel Lamar is the spot and they are not sure WVU will allow Baylor as a choice for his release. 11. SFA won again in a blowout and is now 5-1, but only had 7938 at their game. SHSU also won again in a blowout and are 4-2, but only had 7457 at their game. Texas State lost again but are expanding their stadium so they can move to the WAC, and they had 12,994 at their game.
 12.
You're right about that. Our running game is terrible. I hope Hall can get eligible and we can land a couple OL and the others get bigger and stronger with our strength and conditioning program. Coach Scott Reeves is suppost to be pretty good and they finally got him some help with Coach Joshua Miller.
Scott Reeves was only hired in February and the team was lifting weights outside at the practice fields.  Hopefully a year in the new weight with Reeves in control and the team should be in a lot better shape next year.
 13. Leaving the Sun Belt was due more to the financial problems Lamar was experiencing in the 1990s than anything else.  If Simmons and Tubbs had been hired a few years earlier then I believe Lamar would still be in the Sun Belt.  A lot of people were upset when Lamar returned to the SLC and I don't think Simmons and company will be satisfied until they leave.
 14. Lamar doesn't have the depth to handle injuries like other teams can.  They only have 57 scholarship players, not the full 63 scholarships like most other teams.  Not really an excuse, just the way it is as a first year program. If Jeremy Johnson was at the game last night he can see that he can step right in next year and make a big impact.
 15. How many turnover's a game do they average?  One turnover gave USA 7 points.  Another turnover killed a long drive which cost Lamar at least 3 points.  What happened to the big pass plays they were making at the beginning of the season?  Now that the defense is improving the offense is falling apart.  Good thing there's a bye week, maybe they can fix some things on offense.  I still think a 5 win season is possible.
 16. For some reason there's this small group of fans on katfans.com that are obsessed with everything Texas State and Lamar.  I think they know that SHSU is like SFA and will be stuck in the SLC for a long time due to lack of a stronger fan base.  Even when their teams are successfully the have to knock Lamar.  It's really rather pathetic on their part.
 17. The soccer stadium that is.  The soccer team played Texas State to a 1-1 tie in front of a record crowd of 562.  I'm not much of a soccer fan but it's good to see them playing good this year and drawing good crowds. [Hidden Content]
 18.

Only problem with your argument is that Lamar is not a Division II football program.
Ruckdad you beat me to it. Lamar is DI in all their sports and compete in the FCS of DI football.
It's time for TexasTerror to chime in and give us a lecture on this.  ;D
 19. Went online today to see how many tickets were left and I counted around 800 or so.  If it's not a sellout then it's going to be awfully close to one.
 20.
I dont deny that there are kids who are great athletes but are either too dumb or too lazy to make the grades all over the US, I'm just saying as in the case of Hall he isnt playing at ATM and as I understand it Tulsa either because he is either too dumb or too lazy to make the grade...
Sounds like you're talking about a certain QB from Auburn that's enrolled at SHSU.
 21. From a previous thread here on this board:
though anthony will have the same acl repaired, there is no other knee problem /injury. anthony called me right before he got his results wed mid day, i explained to him that this early season setback does have a benifit, it could have happened late in season & rehab would have spilled over into the next season training. about an hour later anthony called me & said dr isabel told him the acl that was grafted 1 1/2 yrs ago tore into. he said a bigger sized acl graf would be needed. ac grew some more in length & doc said his large  bone & leg size  will have to take a much larger size graf, this surgery will take place tues anthony said. anthony said the doc, said no other damage that he could tell, just the other acl graft just could not support his leg ,bone, muscle size so bigger graft will be put in.
[Hidden Content]
 22. A few months ago JJ did post on his Facebook page that he was transferring to Baylor, which he quickly retracted.
 23. I saw this info on this website: [Hidden Content] Not sure how accurate it is.
 24. It was originally reported that Lamar would play Hawaii in 2012, Oklahoma State in 2013 and Texas A&M in 2014.  Now it looks like Lamar will not be playing Hawaii in 2012, but Texas A&M instead.  If that's true then I hope both Hall and Johnson are playing for Lamar because they'll be needed for that game. I also read that Central Arkansas backed out of their game next year against UH so they could play Arkansas State, but they must find a team to replace them.  I wonder if Lamar may try to take that game with UH but not sure if there's a game already scheduled for that date.  That game with UH would pay Lamar about $275K.
