  2. 14U Out Of Control (OOC-Mitchell) Tryouts

    The OOC 14U Team will have tryouts on Sunday, January 27th from 2 - 5 p.m. at Lumberton High School.  We have an extremly talented, competitive, and proven core set of girls in this age group and are looking to add to the talent mix.

    Out Of Control is one of the oldest and most mature select softball organizations in the area.  Which means our coaching staff [u]remains [/u] [u]consistent[/u], [u]highly experienced[/u], and geared [u]100% toward college prep[/u].

    The 14U Team will be coached by OOC Founder and 18U Gold Coach, Bill Mitchell, who has over 20 years of coaching experience, and has placed COUNTLESS girls in college throughout his career.  We have multiple scholarship signings next week, as just another example of our 200+ college recruiter contacts within our organization.

    Joining Bill to coach the 14U Team is Sonny Overstreet, former Division 1 College Player, who also has multiple years of select softball coaching experience.

    If you are looking for an environment of high expectations focused on skills development, goal attainment, leadership, teamwork, mutual respect between coach and player, and FUN, we are the place for you.

    Yes, '99's should typically move to 14U this fall.    Come check us out.  We have a 14U of primarily '98's as a first year 14U team that will be entering their second year this fall, but we do have a '99 as well.  Very competitive and tough group.  They competed well against anybody the've played, and placed top three in majority of tourneys.  Based on their demonstrated success, we expect a lot out of them this next year leading up to Nationals next summer.

    We have a practice tomorrow at Lumberton High School 2 p.m.    Come join us.  Anyone else interested in OOC are welcome as well!

  13. Looking for a team

    TMack - Out Of Control would welcome your daughter to our practices.  We have an open practice for our 14U team this coming Sunday at 2 p.m. at Lumberton High School.    We have official tryouts on August 5th and 19th, but attending a practice would be good for you to see us in a typical practice setting.  We typically practice at Marauder Park (A#1 training complex between Lumberton and Beaumont off 69/96) during the week, and Lumberton High School on the weekends to mix in both astroturf fields and dirt fields into the practices.

    The Out Of Control Founder (Billy Mitchell) still coaches the older groups (14U & 18U).  Billy's daughters have since grown (but do give pitching lessons :) ) and he has complete unbiased coaching control with the older teams.

    Keep watching this forum on our separate post (already out there) related to tryouts for updates as we may add one more try-out next weekend.  Our primarily first year 14U team placed top 3 in the majority of tournaments they've played this year (Houston area tourneys as our focus) and we expect them to be a force to be reckoned with in their second year.

  16. 14U & 18U Tryouts - Out Of Control

    We will have practices this week as follows if you'd like to come and attend our practice(s).

    14U & 18U - Tues and Thursday at 6:00 p.m. at Marauder Park.

    14U - Sunday at 2 p.m. at Lumberton High School.

    18U is in Round Rock this weekend for a tourney so they will not practice on Sunday.

    Maurader Park is at the end of Keith Road (take Keith Road exit off of 69/96 between Beaumont and Lumberton and drive to the end of Keith Road - can't miss it).

    Out of Control will host two tryouts for our 14U and 18U teams.

    Our 14U team is targeting primarily '98's.  However, they will be expected to compete in both 14U and 16U tournaments leading up to 14U Nationals next summer.

    The dates are as follows:

    Sunday, August 5th at Lumberton High School.  14U will be from 2-5, 18U will be from 4-7.

    Sunday, August 19th at Marauder Park (between Beaumont and Lumbeton off Keith Road).  14U will be from 2-5, 18U will be from 4-7.

    I have a Jugs Lite Flite Pitching Machine that is approximately 3 years old that is in great shape.  Excellent to use at practice and to take to tournaments (fits in any vehicle and easy to carry).  Best price I can find on internet is $400 new.  Balls are about $35 a dozen and I have about 2 dozen I'll throw in with the deal.

    I also have a 2005 31" Rocketech that's available.  These are the Holy Grail of bats and are becoming very rare.  eBay price is going at $350+.  But I hate mailing stuff so this one is offerred for $250.  I promise you'll be impressed with the condition.  No waves, dents, bat head is still a nice deep blue color, etc.  Great bat.  They can't make them like this bat anymore but it's grandfathered and legal.

    Out Of Control will be building a new 12U team for Fall.  Target age are girls born in 2000 or 2001.  Try-Out Dates and Times are as follows:

    June 16th @ 10 a.m. at Lumberton High School.
    June 23rd @ 10 a.m. at Lumberton High School.
    And if needed, July 21st @ 10 a.m. at Lumberton High School.

    Billy has narrowed OOC's focus down to a 14U team and an 18U team, and he's coaching both.  Unfortunately both are currently full.  If something changes, he said he'd put a post out for tryouts.
