Great pitching performance by Blake Ford.  More anemic batting.  Not going to win many games with 3 hits.  Who pitches tomorrow?

If the top of the batting order could buy a hit, it might help a little.  These guys look so lost at the plate.  3 hits for the game?? At least there weren't more errors than hits. If Buchanan didn't get a few walks each game, he wouldn't even know where first base was.

If i was Cross, I'd think two or three times before accepting an asst. position here.  with what he is doing at LSCPA, I'm thinking he'll get better offers.

Hopefully he bought him lunch and they discussed his team that went to the sweet 16....then a polite thanks, but no thanks.  As much as I love what Alvin did at his stay here as point guard, he is not the man for the job.

I'm not very optimistic with this team without it's starting pitching intact.  The hitting isn't there to carry them.  And the defense is barely average.

1. Abatemarco....The best combo recruiter and tactician with a  boat load of experience of the bunch...NBA, WNBA, NBA-DL,etc etc..
Yes he screwed up as a young coach, but you shouldn't hold that against him when he is the best of the bunch. He has matured in the last 22 years, dumb business sense to hold a grudge. I can see him bringing in players from the east coast LU could never other-wise get.

2. Tucker...seems like a great tactician but I don't know if he can recruit.

I couldn't care less where the recruits are from.  Bring me men from mars if they can play.  If the locals can contribute ...fine.  Just bring me more Amborts, Fosters, Delhommes, etc.  I haven't seen anybody to get excited about here since Delhomme left.  And there certainly isn't anybody that the conference fears.  Looks like a bunch of B class Jucos and guys that wouldn't have made the team 8 years ago.

What makes you think Cross can't win with this bunch?  He has won everywhere he has been.  If he can take LSCPA to the championship series, certainly he can handle this bunch of underacheivers.  He built a program at PA that had never won anything, recruited athletes, preached defense and ball movement, and won his first year (their first winning record ever), then won probably the toughest conference in Juco his second year

I just don't see alot from this team.  Hitting is inconsistent.  Weak arm at short.  Pitchers dropping like flies.  It seems like the program is steadily going downhill.  Weak scheduling, coming off a 7th place finish last year (even though the pitching last year carried them through the tourney)...it just seems like we are taking steps backward while the rest of the conference is stepping forward.  I've had season tickets for the last 10 years, and I just don't like the trend I see.

Should we start playing Taps now, or Turn Out the Lights?  This is terrible news.  I thought all along the LU was a middle of the SLC pack team, and with the loss of 2 weekend pitchers, LU may need a ladder to reach 10th place.  I'm thinking there won't be any tourney sweep this year.

We need a couch that has proven he can win.  Abatemarco, Brooks and Knight have proven they CAN'T.

Mind if I ask what your reasoning is?  He has won everywhere he has been, unlike most of the other applicants.  And I'm thinking he must be able to recruit to get the caliber of athlete he has at LSCPA.

I'm thinking they need a better arm at short.  In fridays game, there were 2 or 3 infield hits to short that shoild have been outs, but too weak of an arm at the position.  i wonder if Buchanan shouldn't be moved to 2nd.

It looked tough early on with 4 inning-ending double plays in the first 5 innings, but they hung in and scratched out a nice win.  Congrats Cards.    Let's see what Sunday brings.   

One thing for sure....Cross' teams will certainly play defense.  And if he can recruit to downtown Pt Arthur, without dorms, he should certainly be able to recruit to LU with their facilities.  In my mind, his youth is a plus.

Lamar looks feeble in loss of first game of the weekend, losing 7-1, following a less than steller performance against Rice Tuesday.   Poor hitting doomed them.  Looks like it could be a long weekend.  This weekend should confirm that they are at best a middle of the pack team in the SLC again this year.  And if Harrington is out for the remainder of the season....well, it doesn't look good.

Update on coaching applicants from PA News.      I hope they aren't really interested in Pat Knight.  There are a few encouraging applicants on the list.
