O just curious unlv who are you wanting to be the next coach.
1. Abatemarco....The best combo recruiter and tactician with a  boat load of experience of the bunch...NBA, WNBA, NBA-DL,etc etc..
Yes he screwed up as a young coach, but you shouldn't hold that against him when he is the best of the bunch. He has matured in the last 22 years, dumb business sense to hold a grudge. I can see him bringing in players from the east coast LU could never other-wise get.

    2. Tucker...seems like a great tactician but I don't know if he can recruit.

    3. Skelton...I think he can at least win at LU, But I don't see sweet 16 from him. Expect few years of building.

    4. Cross...same as 3.Brooks, Price, Knight, Evans...Dumpster.
Why are you worrying about the Sweet 16, when LU hasn't won anything in forever???

I just don't see alot from this team.  Hitting is inconsistent.  Weak arm at short.  Pitchers dropping like flies.  It seems like the program is steadily going downhill.  Weak scheduling, coming off a 7th place finish last year (even though the pitching last year carried them through the tourney)...it just seems like we are taking steps backward while the rest of the conference is stepping forward.   I've had season tickets for the last 10 years, and I just don't like the trend I see.

their clutch hitting sux...short-not that big a problem...have bigger infield probs than that..not saying gilligan should stay or go..but it aint his fault the pitchers are blowing out their arms...

frankly, for yrs, everyone wanted the yanks to go and recruit local, well...we got locals and they aint stepping up
I couldn't care less where the recruits are from.  Bring me men from mars if they can play.  If the locals can contribute ...fine.  Just bring me more Amborts, Fosters, Delhommes, etc.  I haven't seen anybody to get excited about here since Delhomme left.  And there certainly isn't anybody that the conference fears.  Looks like a bunch of B class Jucos and guys that wouldn't have made the team 8 years ago.

Haven't we already beaten Baylor and Rice this year?
Yes ...we are a sterling 3-5 against top 50 teams

these next 3 series for lamar are big, get some good wins and will help RPI out alot and SOS, hey thats a good win against a big 12 squad, just think if lamar wins these next 3 series then it will look like the southland will get 2 bids!!!
this was a great win, but let's not carried away.

If we had a young team coming back next year I would be all for Cross. But the situation we are in... we have a bunch of seniors that are capable of winning. I'd like a coach with a little more experience to guide this bunch.
What makes you think Cross can't win with this bunch?  He has won everywhere he has been.  If he can take LSCPA to the championship series, certainly he can handle this bunch of underacheivers.  He built a program at PA that had never won anything, recruited athletes, preached defense and ball movement, and won his first year (their first winning record ever), then won probably the toughest conference in Juco his second year

Has anybody noticed what Matt Cross did today?
Yes, his team beat the No. 1 team in the NJCAA.
Impressive
not the answer
Maybe you are asking the wrong question.  I think it's time to take a chance.   The questions and answers since Pat Foster sure haven't worked .
I agree just don't believe Cross is the right chance
Mind if I ask what your reasoning is?  He has won everywhere he has been, unlike most of the other applicants.  And I'm thinking he must be able to recruit to get the caliber of athlete he has at LSCPA.

  9. Lamar looks feeble in loss of first game of the weekend, losing 7-1, following a less than steller performance against Rice Tuesday.   Poor hitting doomed them.  Looks like it could be a long weekend.  This weekend should confirm that they are at best a middle of the pack team in the SLC again this year.  And if Harrington is out for the remainder of the season....well, it doesn't look good.

    Has the interviewing started yet?
Not yet.  Simmons is out of the country.  I think Tidwell said they plan to narrow it down to 5 or 10 candidates and then bring them on campus at that point.  They want to have a decision made by April 7th.
Simmons was in at the Rice game Tuesday night.
