That's the beauty of this rivalry if you think about it. Nederland came into MCM at 0-2 last season. Everyone had written them off for dead after losing to Vidor and getting SMASHED by Central and lo and behold.. We beat the Indians and turned the season around. This year is different. Both teams are atop the district standings and are very confident. I don't think either team will need to get fired up to give 110% tonight. Most of these guys have been raring to go since last Friday night! I am expecting a great game. I'll be here to say congrats to the Indians if they win and I will be a gracious winner if we win. I can't speak for everyone else though. ;D

Since L-Town has been declared state champs by many of their fans, then wouldn't losing to Central be an upset?

I had lunch with Wong the other day and he was really speaking highly of Salina. He thinks she will play #6 this season and will be a good player for many years to come.

I agree garsnare. The year we went to state, we had 1 super, 3 champs, and some very good 5 and 6 guys that just did not play tourneys. Our guys team was top notch, but we were lucky if we ever won a girls match because we had no champs or supers. I agree that Nederland MAY get to the 2nd round, but they are gonna have to win A LOT of guys matches to do so in my opinion. Off topic.. I hit for 30 minutes and then played a set with Lain Herr last night. What is the pecking order for local juniors right now? Obviously, Deaver is at the top.. Who are the main guys locally who will try and compete with him. Lain looks like he will be a good player in the future, but he's not ready for Deaver yet.

If you are talking about Central's JV, then they are VERY good. I saw them last week against Nederland and came away very impressed. Lots of speed on that team.

Upset, yes. HUGE Upset, NO. I'll still say Nederland by 7-10 pts. And, you are right about the roll. 3 straight and 6 of 7 qualifies. PN-G has won once this millenium. But, who's counting ;D . In all seriousness though, I think this game shapes up to be a great matchup. I hope both teams play their best, if so the fans will get a really good treat.

There is something to be said for an un-biased factual article about sports and a rivalry. It is much better than the competitions biased writing style with all kinds of metaphors that are 99% stupid.

Anyone can win in HS on a given night. It looks to me like Indian fans think that PN-G is gonna win and Bulldog fans think that Nederland is gonna win. It's the same way every year. We have a good team this year, but we are in no way unbeatable. I do think we will win this game but I was wrong on both predictions last night. I thought our freshmen would win and our JV would lose. I had it backwards. In football, upsets happen all the time. Stanford beat USC as a 40-point underdog. If those teams played 100 times, Stanford would lose 99 of them. It does not make them better than USC, they were better than USC THAT night. I don't think PN-G winning at Nederland would qualify as a HUGE upset. Nederland goes in as the favorite and must prove it on the field. I think they will.

This game tonight really hinges on two things in my opinion.... Both are in the passing game. 1. How will PN-G defensive secondary fare vs. a pretty good passing attack? 2. Can Nederland slow down the Indians potent running game and force the Indians to throw the ball?

Both of the sub-varsity games were upsets in my opinion. Y'all won the Freshman game 29-27 which avenged a 50-21 loss from earlier this season. We won the JV game 22-21. What do either of these games have to do with tonight??? Not a DARN thing!

They probably will lose early. The girls team is probably gonna get whacked and the guys team is pretty good, but there will be plenty of good boys teams at regionals.

Halliburton must have been drunk when he wrote this article. He is always a little goofy. But, Asa Cardenas is a junior and Kyle Brady is a TE in the NFL. Are his stats correct that PN-G is the last ranked defense in the district? That does not sound right to me.

Yoder is manager at Sanderson's restaurant. I have no idea what Askew is doing now. Butler's parents sit next to me at the home games and he is punting at a very good JUCO, the name is slipping my mind at the moment.

In my opinion if PN-G blitzes all night then Bass will be catching a ton of screen passes. Nederland is getting much more comfy with the spread and so is Bellow. The beauty of the spread is that you take what is given to you. If y'all don't blitz, we have some good medium to deep routes. If y'all do blitz, then you will see a lot of short screens and dump passes. The beauty of being in the gun is you have a second or two to react to whatever the defense is doing. The best thing I like about our QB is that he does not lock in on one WR. He spreads the ball around realy well even though he has the best WR in the district on one side. Should be a good game. I think PN-G will have to mix up their defensive looks to try and confuse Kirby. If they blitz all night or just lay back all night, I think he will find a groove.

So, since MOJO and SLC passed.... Coach C decided to play a bunch of 3A creampuffs. I have never seen any other teams in 4A have any problems scheduling teams in THE SAME CLASSIFICATION or a HIGHER CLASSIFICATION before. Other teams must be scared of all that tradition I guess.

Lumberton could probably win state in 1A. Lumberton would probably lose in to Mart in 2A. Lumberton would go a few rounds in 3A. Lumberton MIGHT make the playoffs in 4A. Lumberton would get squashed in 5A. Does that help?

I don't think we have one best defensive player. I really think that we have 3... DJ, Gutierrez, and Wareall.

Great job by Coach Lopez's team. I spoke with him last week and he says this is the best boys team he's had since his 1993 and 1994 teams that were state ranked.

West Brook in my opinion is the best.
