Thats what i meant to say. He is the coach.

The man was given his certification back and was hired, therefore they should have stuck behind their hire. He who is without sin, cast the first stone. This mess is weakining Ozen and some people don't seem to care!

the Hebert Alum are the ones that seem to have an issue because they want what they feel is of the pear orchard community. parents want the most qualified. but they dont seem to have an issue with Atkins.

Seems to me that some people are correct in saying its the admins that are at fault here. In my opinion, Atkins wouldnt have withheld the truth for the simple fact of exactly what is happening. Obviously, the situation with him wasnt that bad or was fabricated by an angry student if they gave him his cred back and dropped all charges. In todays age, a teacher/coach is guilty until proven innocent when it comes to allegations like these. Could have been a complete lie. Now look what happened.....BISD looks like complete idiots and a Coach has been smeared all over the media. Im not sure if there is a solution to all this but can guarantee you that this wont end well for BISD and most importantly the kids.

Depending on how long this drags out in court and in the news, what happens to the football program? Can he continue to work as the head coach and perform any of those duties if he was not fired? This type of behavior by all sides is not helping the community or the school. Does anyone really care about the football team much less the image this is sending to all.

My kids attend Ozen, so I won't report what I hear of what happened because I didn't attend the meeting. Don't want any misinformation hurting Our Ozen Family. I will give any information I'm privy to if I'm in attendance of any further meetings if there are any. Please pray for our kids & we will do the same for yours. Before Thomas was superintendent BISD was 20 million in the hole but they will not talk about that, 2) BISD was broke until South Park ISD and BISD became one district so you old mind people from the south that think war is good; move to Lumberton but you will still drive here to work . SO don't come to Beaumont at all we will not miss you. Oh and at the city of Beaumont about 1985 there was 20 million lost and they used 3 million to try and fine it, and no one was told where the money when. Its a lot that can be stated on here , from bank fraud of local banks to under paid women on their jobs leave BISD alone and talk sports

No one is condoning or defending the wrong doings in BISD. Anyone that knows me knows that I have been saying that the entire school board should be replaced! Fact is the local media runs stories over and over about the bad things that happens in BISD but, hardly ever mentions other school districts. How long ago did the Nederland kid bring a gun to elementary school? If that was BISD, the story would still be running. I don't know Atkins but, if he has his credentials and the charges were dropped then you guys shouldn't be on here talking about BISD hired a child molester.

Witch hunt!!! The sad part is that you have no media outlets in your own communities to offset the onslaught of news whether true or false. Its the perceptions that are put out there on a constant basis to control your thinking to eventually sway you to the perceived "right" side, but in reality, you were already on the side of truth, justice & the american way.

You have to take who you can get. Most of the people in Houston already knew about this. The argument back then was "Well, he didn't have to register and he got re-hired so it must not have been too bad". Fact of the matter is, there were only 14 applicants if I remember correctly. Sterling had like 70 and they've won like 3 games out of the last 30 or so. That should tell you where Ozen stands on the coaching radar. I'm not defending him but I thought this was common knowledge, especially to administrators. I've known of a teacher who had her liscense revoked for sending an "improper" text to a student, his was just suspended. I understand the uproar, but wouldn't the Panther faithful want his redemption story to be written in Beaumont? It's often better than the first act.  

Man, that new coach is already asking the basketball players to come out for the football team.

Be careful with that though because YOU or I probably wouldn't have taken that job. This guy has some Claude Mathis to him IMO. Now Ozen's offense really should resemble a PS3. I understand the HISD argument but he's not the one that chose the schedule. Two years ago he was 11-0, smoking everybody, including a FB Ridge Point team that had close to twice the enrollment in the first round. IMO he couldn't have done a much better job given the circumstances. There's not many places you come from where Ozen is an upgrade in EVERY sense of the word. This guy has dealt with administrative turmoil, poor funding, decrepit facilities, and kids who've seen more narcotics transactions than cartoons by the time their in middle school. Not to mention, that area of North Houston turns into a war zone in a drought if you know what I mean.

This guy is used to coaching great athletes and he's adept at managing two way players which Ozen is probably still going to have to do because of their small enrollment. This guy is the real deal, Ozen better figure out how to get him some more money in these next few years if they want to keep him.

Congrats to Coach Atkins, I wish him much success @ Ozen Magnet High School. He, turned North Forest into a winner and those kids believed in him and his program. 
 
Let's give the man an opportunity to prove himself. IMO I expect him to do just that.  I look forward to watching the Ozen Panthers perform in 2014.

Well, here we are once again. Personally I don't care about a Coaches Wins or Losses. As I stated before, I look for Character, Integrity. Qualities that the people doing the hiring don't possess. Just because you Win games don't mean you can Coach & If you lose doesn't mean you can't. Clearly our former Coach lost a lot, but he couldn't make adjustment & certainly didn't know his personnel. We need a Coach that cares; if he cares he will instill discipline, make them accountable, respect & listen to them, but most if ALL, get to know them personally. If he does this, these kids will run through Walls. This only occurs if you CARE. I really don't care about Football, what lessons are you teaching my Son & his Peers. If you're a football Coach, football is the easy part; the Game of Life is what you really must Teach. As Coaches (in my case volunteer) we wear many Hats; Counselor, Friend, Father, Mentor, Spiritual Advisor. Whatever the situation calls for, we have to make the adjustment. Personally as a Coach, how can I ask my kids to Sacrifice & go beyond, but I settle for the Status Quo? Bottom line, either you be who you Claim to be, or these kids will EXPOSE you.
Lastly, words of wisdom to our new Leader. I saw how some of the older Alumni were giving their 2 cents to the last Regime. We all see how that worked out. If I were you I would be like Frank Sinatra and do it "My Way". Good Luck Mr Atkins & welcome to SETX football. I pray for a good transition for you & your family

I agree, JRidge and Mr Davis, too many good athletes and talent for their football program not to be better than what it is. Seems as if, BISD is dragging their feet on getting a good quailty coach, sabotage. JMO.
