If the schools were reversed and someone from Vidor did that to another school, it would be on CNN,FOX news, and called a hate crime.FBI would be here questioning everyone from the cleaning ladies to the old people in the nursing home.. but since it's Vidor it's no big deal.
O'l Larry why don't you load your poodles up and come over right now. There's a few young men waiting for yalls arrival!!!
You need to call CNN & Fox News..And then maybe you guys will make the paper on a postive note ;D...So now we are the poodles... I would rather be good old fashion white trash  than a poodle myself ;)..Just saying .. :P

4. One way to get to the school is go past Vidor's main street  exit, and take the next exit. It will take you to a four way stop and cross the railroad tracks. Once across the RR tracks take a right, go to first street and take a left (sargent street). Go all the way down and take a right ,which is Orange street and that will take you to the highschool.(leave the same way and its alot easier to get to I-10.

Park in front of school. But when you leave go opposite of main street and go down about 3 roads take a left and you will see I-10. real easy to get on from there.

Where can I find out how our Jr. High's are doing?  They don't post results on the school website.  I know Central won against St. Anne's and Vidor, how did C.O. Wilson do?
It's under the youth forum section. Central beat Vidor's 7th grade team, and 8th grade "B" team. Central lost to Vidor's 8th grade "A" team 32-22.

The problem is not seventh grade programs. The problem is you don't have enough of those kids playing in the youth programs growing up leading up to their seventh grade years. I can't speak for all the youth programs in the area but i know in Vidor we struggle to get 20-25 senior kids every year. Then all of a sudden in seventh grade you have 75 kids come out to play football. I coached youth football for seven years and it obvious when you go and watch seventh grade football which ones played youth football and the ones that did not.
So now you have 4-6 coaches trying to evaluate 75 kids in a matter of about 4 weeks and that first week is conditioning only. So i can't put the blame on the coaches or the programs. A kid that has never played football before other than yard ball is not going to look good or play good at that level compared to the kids that have been playing since they were 5 years old. And then some might say just play the kids that have the talent and experence from playing youth football, but then you have little Johnnys parents calling the coach,AD, or school board. By the time they hit the 8th grade the coaches have had a year to evaluate the kids and things start to get
better.
I watched the Vidor 8th grade A team last night play central 8th grade A team and it was a very good ball game.( 32-22 Vidor won )
I also watched the games before that game and they were not that good. (Cental won both of those games )

So i think before we start knocking our 7th grade programs we need to take a look at what our Jr. High coaches are up against. They really have a TALL TASK to face each year. JMHO
You hit the nail on the head.Plus you have kids that maybe lineman in 7th and 8th grade and then when varsity comes around he is starting running back. Kids mature at different stages during this period of there life.
You have 75 7th graders  show up one day, and then you have 3-4 weeks to make 4 teams like they do in vidor, and with only 4 coaches it's a very hard thing to do.
7. A very well deserved THANKYOU to Coach McEachern, his staff and players. The benefit for Drew Humberson (Vidor coach's son that was injured in ATV accident) was held Saturday in Vidor. Coach McEachern one of his coaches, and 4 of his players made the trip to Vidor all the way from Huffman. It was very much appreciated . You couldn't have asked for a better group of young men, who took time out of there day to make the long trip for someone they didn't even know.Very classy and very much appreciated.
Thankyou Coach and good luck this season. You have alot more fans now!!!!

VFW is is about 2.5 miles south of IH-10 on Hwy105 in Vidor. Turn south on main street (105) in vidor, cross the tracks twice and the VFW is on the right shortly after second set of tracks. It is where the Vidor youth football play for the STJFL, not lonestar( you can visit www.VPIFA.NET)
thanks.

9/27/11

8A

C.O. Wilson.  43
Groves.        18
Yea C.O. won with real class! They were up 35-18 with less than 30 sec left in the game, on their own 20yd line and threw pass down the sideline for a TD. Boy that's a way to show our kids how to act!
Seems the lack of class must have rubbed off on Groves. 8th A-team winning 38 - 0 agaist Central Middle school and they were still trying to score with 38 seconds left in the game. WOW - it's almost like they were trying to play football or something. Funny how you call someone out one week, then turn around and do the same thing the next week or so. Didn't see any post about how little class Groves had.  :'(
Its school ball, we all need to let it go. A few years back Dayton was trying to score 100s point on Nuemann... i think it ended up 60 to what ever. School coaches have their reasons. As long as the kids play with class and good sports. I think it bothers parents more than is does the kids
I agree about the parents part and also about how good of a game that was last night.
The 7th grade game was a good one as well. Both games:not alot of flags, physical and a few big plays.

10/4/11
8A. Groves 40
          Vidor    0

8B. Groves 8
        Vidor  0
Just curious, 2 previous Port Neches Groves posters said C.O. Wilson beating Groves 43 to 18 last week showed lack of sportsmanship and no class. They said C.O. Should have taken a knee at end of game instead
of trying to score. Can you explain why Groves decided to win tonite 40 to 0. Isn't it showing a lack of sportsmanship and class to continue to score on an opponent, at any point in the game, when the outcome of the game is already decided???
When their 2nd string is in, it's not unclassy.
Just curious if Vidor agrees with that.
Vidor has 5 teams. We split up the kids to get them reps. So when two Vidor teams are playing away tonight then the other ones will be playing at home. Yes we get whipped. But it puts more kids in the game and some of those late bloomers might surprise you later on. If a coach runs up the score on a 7th grade team. That's his business.ALL the Jr.high coaches know each of the other school's coaches. So they know what to expect when they play them. But alot of times the other coach doesn't mean to, it's just that the other team is that bad.lol
The Vidor coaches practice with 8th grade at 6am and then in the afternoon there not done til 5pm with 7th graders. I applaud them because as some of you know trying to teach 140 kids  12,13,year olds football among other things, can be a little stressfull.
We want to win just like everyone does, but we are looking at the big picture for later on. If a kid dont get to play but maybe 3 snaps in a football game then he most likely won't return the following year. What Vidor is doing is splitting everyone up so they can each have a piece of the pie. To show hardwork pays off ,gain a little confidence, and also peak there interest for when they arrive to high school in 9th grade.
winning is great but developing young players to hang around til there senior year is more important to me .Just my opinion.

Congrats to all teams and players advancing to the second round of SJFL play offs.
Now coaches, down to business.    Sheffield Productions needs rosters for all teams playing at WOS Dan Hook's Stadium this Sat.   Actually 3 rosters, typed, players in numerical order and phonetic pronunications on any names you think could go in different directions.   I know how to say Hebert, but you can help our announcers tremendously if you spell phonetically that it is pronunced "a-bear" by this family.  Another example: my neighbor is Guiterrez .  Saying "Goo-tier-ez" is correct as is "Goo-tear-ez  .; but my friend prefers and uses the latter.
We ask for 3 copies to be sent to the pressbox before your kickoff.   The stadium announcer gets one while the other two are for our play by play and color announcers.   We don't have a copier,  The stadium announcer is not in the same room as our announcers and even our two announcers find it hard to "share" a roster" when both are scrambling to find a number ( numerical order is a lifesaver ), check proper pronunication and say it all before our replay rolls.   Please - 3 copies.
We are in cahoots with the stadium announcer.  If you hear a name mishandled, its probably said the same way on the DVD.   Please send someone to the pressbox or our production trailer with the correct pronunication.   Some of you are reading this and wondering why we make this appeal every year.  We think its only fair that these future stars with all their hard work have their names said correctly on a DVD that they will watch and listen to repeatedly.  Thank all of you for your help in making this happen.
Now the good news.   Sheffield Productions full crew, multi camera, multi replay capability and professional announcers will again produce a DVD that will be a family keepsake for years to come.  DVDs can be paid for before the matchups and picked up ASAP after the game.    Thanks to STJFL for the faith and the booking.  see ya on the field, videoguy
well worth the money..Every time I turn around my son is watching his pro bowl from last year.

Bobcat, I did watch the 10:00pm news last night and what I heard was basically a retraction.  I did not see news at 6:00pm, but it is obvious to me that they broke a "rumor" that was brought to their attention by an anonymous person.  Why would a newstation put their "good" name on a letter that some coward wrote and didn't have the guts to put his or her name on?  Great post by madness... Talk about irresponsible journalism.
What Friedman did was responsible journalism, it was investigated. Even if it wasn't on TV it would have came out sooner or later.
Its ok for other people to have opinions Kerry..Just because it isnt your opinion doesnt mean thats its wrong
