1. While helping coach a t-ball team during a kids first at bat he hit a ground ball to 1st.  The kid playing 1st managed to stop the ball and step on first for an out.  The next time the hitter came up he again hit it to first but instead of running to 1st he proceeded to run to 3rd where I was standing.  I was yelling to run to first the whole time but he came all the way to third and stopped on the bag.  When I told him he had to run to first he replied, "if I do, that kid over there will get me out". Made perfect sense to me.
2. I just found this by googling National Anthem etiquette.  I never really thought about there being any sort of prescibed rules regarding etiqutte during the palying or singing of the National Anthem prior to reading this thread although I am not suprised to find that there are.  I guess standing, removing my cap and placing my hand over my heart is just what I saw others do when I was young and now feel it is what is neccessary to show proper respect to my country.  Below is the information I found: In 2007, Congress addressed this for the first time in 36 USC 301. This U.S. Code therefore created the first mandated national anthem etiquette. The pledge of allegiance should be rendered by standing at attention, facing the flag, and placing the right hand over the heart (the salute). Uniformed personnel, firefighters, law enforcement officers, and military personnel in uniform should render a hand salute. When the national anthem is played or sung, U.S. citizens should stand straight and rigid and salute at the first note and hold the salute through the last note. The salute is directed to the flag, if displayed, otherwise to the singer.
3. I use to fish on a place off hwy 365 not far from Rodaire (sp?) Gulley.  I has been quite a few years it was expensive but their were 5 sperate ponds and the bass fishing was excellent.  I heard that one of the hurricanes caused salt water intrusion and killed the fish. Does any no anything about that location.
4. Does anyonbe have any information on any fishing leases in the area.  I am looking for a pond or private lake that can fished from a jon boat and troll motor.
5. Why is there a prohibition on players wearing jewelry and the national baseball high school rules list this under the heading of safety but of all the games I have ever watched at all levels I have never heard of a player being injured because he had on some sort of jewelery.  But there is a wealth of information available by medical experts and years of research and study indicating excessive pitch counts poses a serious threat of injury and I have heard of numerous players injured due to overuse.  I have never seen or heard of a medical or expert opinion indicating that pitch counts are not important. Why is it then that there is not some sort of rule on pitch counts?  It just seems it would make more sense to put safety rules in place that would have a real impact.  I am not suggesting players should be allowed to wear jewelry but it just seems to me (I am not an expert) that the risk of injury is far greater to a player when they throw too many pitches than if they were a necklace.
6. Why is this question even being asked?  Why is it necessary to blame somebody? If an athelete in any sport that wants a scholarship and doesn't get one blame the athletes genetics.  Or if the athelete is talented enough but doesn't get a scholarship blame his character or grades or work ethic or whatever else about the athelete that caused some college coach to not want him. Don't blame his HS coach.  Young atheletes need to learn to take responsibility for themselves and learn that they control their own destininy.  If they don't make it in sports it isn't the end of the world life is full of disapointment, Young adults need to learn to deal with it and move on.
7. Scalabrine - You sure are critical of HJ and their coaching staff.  It is one thing to go onto a public forum and share your opinions but you seem to really have an axe to grind with the HJ coaching staff and the way playing time is decided.  It is easy to sit back and be critical of a coach whose every decision is on public display.  I wonder what the HJ coaching staff or anybody else for that matter would say about your decision making at your job - it would be like people throwing rocks at you while your trying to mow.
8. Here's the scenario: A man on first with two out's and a dropped third strike.  The plate umpire calls the hitter out and as catcher finds the ball the plate umpire signals and calls the hitter out again.  The defensive players come off the field without tagging the hitter or throwing to first.  The coach of the team hitting discusses the play with the field umpire who then discusses the play with the plate umpire.  While the discussion is going on the base runner that was on first and the hitter circle the bases.  The field umpire and the plate umpire both recognize that it was a blown call but state that it is the defensive teams responsibility to know the rules and they allow both runs to score and continue the inning with two outs. Is this correct?  I realize umpires are human and are going to make mistakes but this just doesn't seem like the right correction to this blown call.
9. This may not be the right forum for this post but I just ran across this article on the internet by Dick Mills a pitching instructor and former MLB pitcher and thought I would share it.  I found it very interesting as he explains that creating arm strength (being bigger and stronger) is not the key to developing velocity but rather proper mechanics coupled with faster more explosive movement is the key.  I have never heard someone subscribe to this school of thinking.  I realize he is trying to sell his training program but his take on increasing pitching velocity is different from convetional wisdom. Blue, you speak with such authority concerning this game stating Friendswood didn't do things to keep from running up the score you must have been there.  Did you enjoy the game.
Twist it anyway you want, but the score dictates what happened. Don't make excuses ("only their first time and we weren't there." How many Yates' games did YOU attend to say they demoralized other teams? Look at your statement; [glow=red,2,300]"As I eluded too earlier I do not know if Friendswood tried to do things to manage the score however it is clear Coach Wise did not.  Additionally, the Friendswood coach is not getting national attention for being unsportsmanlike."[/glow]
I didn't realize I was twisting anything.  The score alone doesn't neccessarily dictate what happened other than Friendswood won convincingly I don't know what Friendswood did after having an insuremountable lead and if they continued to try and run up the score I think there coach is wrong just like coach Wise was wrong.  I didn't see Yates play any games however I thought it had been well stablished Coach Wise continued to press and run while having huge leads late in games which I would describe as demoralizing.  Additionally, I have not seen any articles written by ESPN writters lambasting the coach at Friendswood nor have I seen any blogs with "Anti Coach Wise" in their titles.

12. I agree with some of the comments made already.  If the Friendswood coach did not take measures to manage the score he is no better than Coach Wise.  Does anyone know if he continued to try to score runs after having the game well in hand. Maybe this is a situation similar to what Coach Wise has done and he made his intentions clear at the beginning of the season.
13. How many D1 schools play the same style of basketball (whole game full court press) that Yates plays and who are they?
14.

OF just beat Liberty 24-2 in baseball. They should have just went to the plate and purposely struck out everytime once they were up by 15. I'm not saying Yates winning 175-35 (Not sure if that is the correct score) is right or pressing the whole game when you destroying the other team is right but it is the way he wants to play. It will more than likely come back at him one day.
i don't agree with OF scoring that many runs.  the difference being that in basketball you have options of easing up, slowing the ball down, calling off the press, etc etc.  in baseball, there's no way to slow things down to minimize the damage APART from actually asking the kids to purposefully fail.  each team is going to have to make 3 outs each inning, regardless of the score.  The good thing is that there is a mercy rule, which helps.  asking your players to intentionally strike out is a far cry from not pressing in basketball, or holding the ball a little longer before shooting to slow the game down, which is ALL Wise would have to do to gain the respect that his coaching record would deserve if he would show just a bit of class and humility.
Bullets makes some good points.  Asking a kid to purposely strike out is entirely different than pulling back a press.  I would also disagree with OF beating Liberty 24-2 if, with a comfortable lead in the later innings of the game OF tried to strectch singles into doubles, advanced on passed balls, continued to try to steal bases,  executed hit and runs or tried to squeeze in runs.
15.

I have been to this site many times primarily to check scores, updates and schedules.  However, after reading about Coach Wise and some of the comments made in his defense I felt compelled to open an account and voice my opinion (it will be worth what you paid). I think Coach Wise is completley wrong in what he is doing.  I have heard it said many times that players get better by playing better competition.  If in fact Coach Wise is continuing to press and use starters when his team has an insurmountable lead his kids are not getting better by doing so.  If his team is in fact 15 deep (I have no doubt that it is) and his 10 - 15 are better than most schools 1-5 why not work on his team's running game and press in practice where the atheletes are better than the competition being faced in games, that is, if the reason for what he is doing is to get better which I doubt.  His team has obviously mastered running and pressing, if he wants to make his players better why not make them more well rounded players by mastering another style of play. I have also read a couple of comments stating it is better to have these kids beating their opponents by 100 points rather then beating them in the streets or killing them on the court rather than killing them in the streets.  Those comments are the most racist I have heard.  If these players are so undisciplined and have such a lack of regard for humanity we have bigger problems than Coach Wise. I have never seen or met any of these players and I can't believe this is the case I think the comments are those from someone trying to justify what is being done and can't  come up with a valid argument. The reason they cannot come up with a valid argument is that there is not one. I think any team should take the court or field and paly all out to win and I have no problem with convincing victories.  But continuing to press a team with a huge lead or to call a time out late in the game when the win is inevitable, simply to break 100 shows a complete lack of class and sportsmanship.  I don't think Coach Wise should tell his kids to stop shooting or not to play defense when they have a huge lead but they should  stop pressing  and drop back and play defense. If Coach Wise is sincerely interested in these kids he should teach them things that are more important than basketball, things like sportsmanship, class, honor and integrity.
Coach Wise, keep up the good work! "If in fact?" Then, you really haven't seen Yates play have you? Starters? Go see a game and see how many of their players actually play. So you think the team should work on their running game "in practice" with the  non-starters? Who do you think they practice against every week, Fella? Mastering another style of play? Hmm, If you knew Yates' history, this is the style they have played since I can remember playing against them and beyond. No one said the players were "undisciplined."  Let me stop here because you haven't seen a thing you're talking about. Only what you have read about!
Blue, I apologize that I did not make myself more clear for you when I stated "after reading about Coach Wise" and "I have never met or seen any of these players". I thought it was abundantley clear that I was commenting on what I have been reading.
