1. Well he replaced an NAIA game with another NAIA team. So either way, it's a crappy schedule.
 2.
TC also got beat by like 90 at SFA last year.. Woodard is just looking for W's and a stat building game to build confidence leading into the season, and he got it.
And yet Roc got lambasted for it? I can see scheduling 2 sub-DI teams, but 2? Tsk Tsk.
 3. Seriously? Wowwwww... Woodard is trying to match paces with Roc as it comes to  scheduling. At least USA is Div-I.
 4. I think their ranking numbers were basically based on capacity percentages, and that was all they factored into "atmosphere"
 5. Oh, and they through USC at #17 because their 80,000 average fans can't fill a 95,000 seat bowl? The rest is pretty accurate, though
 6.
[Hidden Content]
Wow! My School nailed the 24th spot and they couldn't be more wrong. These guys must just be looking at attendance numbers. First off, WSU averages about 25,000 fans every Saturday (not at capacity), but the town only has that many people, and, they've only won 3 games in 3 years! Sooooo, I would say that's a pretty decent fan base, and the experience is actually spot on. I've never seen tailgating relatively close to what WSU puts on. These people fill the lots in 3 days before gameday and start tailgating then.
 7.
if texas st finishes with a RPI in the top 35, and wins regular season conference and then someone else wins the tourney they will get 2 in...
A few years ago, TSU won the regular season, and SHSU won the tourney, both teams went into the NCAA tourneys.

Maybe our recruiting class will get better with the Knight name behind it. It could work. But now I just had flashes of Billy Tubbs' comeback. But I'm going to remain positive and go with the flow. It might be a good move.
Yeah, just like all of those top notch recruits he brough to Tech!
In the Big 12, no one wants to play at Tech. Knight has a chance to turn Lamar into THE Southland school.. Something it hasn't been in a while. Texas State, McNeese, UTSA, schools like that have taken over.
Really? Come on now.
 9.
I don't understand the dislike for Tubbs either, but then I was there when his teams went to the sweet 16, beat the likes of Missouri in the tourney, lost by a point in Chicago to then #1 team in the nation, DePaul, lost at the buzzer to Phi Slama Jama at Hofheinz, etc. All of that is so far removed from the recent state of affairs of LU basketball that its hard to even think that it ever really happened. But it did...and when it all happened it was Billy Tubbs that ran the show.
And SMU used to be really good too, but that's the past, just like Lamar basketball. It's all about what coaches can do for teams in THIS decade.
Well if someone is saying your conference sucks, that's pretty much saying your team sucks.
Our team did suck!  ;D
Relatively speaking, yea, but so did everyone else. At least you didn't lose to Our Lady of the Lake. ;)

 12.
I called Pat Knight a few months ago... I will say what I said then... He will do a good job for us. I agree with Lazeek and it will be even better if we can get Matt Cross to join the staff.
Would it be better to be a top Ju-Co coach that has an outstanding winning percentage, or an assistant coach at a below average mid-major program?
 13.
Tidwell says "I have had no contact with any sources from the Western Athletic Conference. No phone calls or face to face contact."  He doesn't say if anyone else connected with Lamar has had contact with the WAC.  I would think Tubbs and/or Simmons would be the ones working behind the scenes with the WAC, not Tidwell.
No way! There's no way you leave out the AD in talks like that.

 17. Surprised?  ::) ::) Seriously, everyone with "sources" needs to just stop, all it does it get people hyped up and usually ends up being trash.
She's more pleasant than any of these gentlemen we are considering!  She's a firebrand and a tough competitor, and I still remember her in her playing days at LaTech with that long blond poneytail.  Call me what you want but she still aint half bad looking for a women of her age.
Well, I guess she is better looking than the list of guys previously reported, I'll give you that much.

 21.
Is UTEP unhappy with CUSA?
Geographically? Probably. They're the most Western location of the group. Being in the WAC would put them closer to the majority of their opponents.
 22.
Anyone know if the Southland plan on replacing UTSA and Texas st. If so, what are they waiting on? 2012 schedules need to be ready soon.
There's no reason to. UTSA never had football, and now that TSU has it, Lamar replaces them. You still have the same # of football playing members. Now that they're gone from basketball, I think you'll see more games against Western division opponents rather than the just 2 East 1 West that has been the trend. For other sports, you'll just see a large OOC schedule.

 24.
The selection for the NCAA Tourney is a joke.  I do not doubt that most any of the Big East teams would beat all of the SLC teams every night and probably at least half of the WAC and CUSA teams but there are to many mid level conferences that should have had more than one team in.  St. Mary's out of the West Coast Conf, Wichita State out of the Missouri Valley to name two.  I believe the NCAA would be better served by limiting the number of teams from one conference to no more than four and getting rid of the last four teams from the tourney.  If you couldn't win your regualar season or conference tourney why should you get to play? Oh yeah it's so the NCAA and the big boys get more money.
I agree with you on this.
 25.
But the point is the best team in the SLC still would have only received a 16 seed.
That's debatable. Had McNeese gone, they may have gotten a 5. Also, no team was nearly as close to the number USU had, in fact, most of the teams ranked ABOVE them didn't have 30 wins.
