2. Kudos, had TAMU-CC not upset #7 Texas, this would have been the highlight of the week for the SLC. No reason you two can't share in the spotlight. Great conference wins.
 3.
Spin it any way you want but I am telling you now that Sam Houston is going to lose to Texas State.  SFA is going to go through what we went through last year lucky to win conference games due to an inexperienced QB.  I was at the Sam-Texas State game and you should not feel good about going to San Marcos.  Your RB is good but not enough to carry you in San Marcos,
A lot of talk for a team that went 1-6 in conference play, and that 1 win was a 4th Q meltdown by the Jacks. Back to Cardinal football, I still think Lamar beats TSU-SM in San Mucus. I think the cats will think they're better than the Cards, and they'll regret it.
 4.
12 to 3 in the 7th. 8 of the 9 Lamar hitters have multiple hits.
:o :o :o Wow!
 5.
We are going to be a lot better than last season and the two losses I talked about us losing by 9 points last season was, one McNeese by 3 and Georgia State by 6 both being on the road.
Lamar was robbed in that game. I really thought Prewitt was going to lead the magical comeback. Had he started the week before instead, I think he would have had enough confidence to go into the GeorgiaDome and win it. The defense was just flat gassed by the end.
 6. B360, glad you caught that doormant/doormat mistake ;) As far as defensive improvement, I know it's there, but as a whole team, your real improvement was on the offensive side of the ball. Every year, teams throughout the conference say that they're improved through the offseason, but at the end of the season, not everyone can be improved, SOMEONE has to be worse off. I actually think Lamar will be BETTER off, simply because of the improvements on offense. As far as the records go, the only wins that really matter come playoff time are DI wins, and you only had 2 out of 6. I think you'll pick up some quality wins in this upcoming season, but it's going to be another long one, especially as teams get more and more game film on the Cards. I agree though, there should be a drastic improvement, but not enough to be over .500, but who knows. Oh, and the link for next year's schedule is on the athletic site: [Hidden Content] MFFL, take all the cracks you want, I don't think you're going to find any Bearkat happy with the way attendance turns out at games. In all honesty, it's sickening. However, I will say this, we had TW for the last few years, and if you noticed the product he put on the Cardinal field, you can imagine why no one showed up his final 3 years. Things have gotten better this year, but it's still not going to be great. At the end of the day, the Kats play well at home, as do most teams around the nation. We were 3-1 at home last year, with the loss being to McNeese, who finished 2nd in conference.
 7.
Lamar will have a better chance of defeating SFA this year.  They will lose to Texas St.  SFA will be lucky to go 6-5 this year with an inexperienced QB
Most of SFA's core is still there, with Attaway having a year to sit and watch one of the best SLC passes of all time. His receiving group is still in tact, and they've picked up a stud RB to help in the run game. They've lost 2 key players on defense, but as a whole, the majority of the group is still there. I'm not saying SFA hands70+ on them, but they do beat them thoroughly. As for Sam, only lost 3 SLC games by a combined 11 points, and against two of three teams finished 1st and 2nd. We have a QB and RB that will be even more comfortable in the backfield, and defense picked up some key needs to address the secondary. Lamar's defense hasn't improved nearly as much as their offense, but Tim Flanders will still have a beastly day come next year. SHSU should pick up this win, especially since it will be an AWAY game for the Cards. As for Texas State, Coach Fran is still Coach Fran. Just because he comes in this year, he's still got last years recruits, a team that 1-6 in the SLC. Are you guys improved? I hope so, but every team can't improve and be better, someone's got to be worse. SFA will lose more than 1 game, and I think you guys will be at the bottom again, even though it doesn't really matter whether you guys win or lose. At the end of the day, Lamar only won 2 of their 6 Division 1 games. I don't see them being really competitive until Year 3 of this program, which is still a hell of a job considering they've been dormant for 10+ years.
 8.
Here's what Pomeroy is predicting for the last four games: 70-62 loss to SFA 81-79 win over SHSU 87-82 win over Texas State 79-74 loss to McNeese State
Looks like I  can predict as good as Pomeroy.  ;D ;D I did say you could beat TSU, and the SHSU would be the next most likely, and KenPom gives you guys a 2 point advantage. Out of the 4 teams tied for 7th place right now, you guys have the hardest 4 games coming up.
 9.
I am very flattered that other people on these forums that have no affiliation with Lamar have the need to spend time to post on blogs regarding our university. I for one would not waste my time talking on the fan site for Sam Houston, South Dakota, SFA, etc. for a few reasons. Those schools mean nothing to me. They are merely conference foes or schools with which I have no affiliation. I do not mean that as a slight to any of the universities I've mentioned. It just seems those people do not have enough to talk about regarding their own schools. So thank you for making LU a part of your lives. You are only strengthening our publicity and the size of our network.
As evidenced by your 1 total post, you obviously don't waste too much time talking about your own school either  ::) ::) You should care who's in your conference, because those are the teams that you'll play week in and week out. Having other outsiders from various schools comment on things means that you get to see a different perspective of the weaknesses and strengths of the other team. Not everyone on this form bleeds red and white anyway, you've got a lot of t-shirt (or should I say avatar) Aggies and Horns too. Welcome aboard.
 10. Sitting at 6-6, Lamar is going to need to win 2 of the next 4 games in order to really have a shot at the tournament. Every year, all the .500 teams get into the tournament, and usually 1 sub-.500 team gets in. The problem with that? Lamar faces the 4 HARDEST teams to beat in the conference right now, @SFA vs. SHSU vs. Texas State @ McNeese Combined record of the next 4 opponents: 30-18 in the SLC. McNeese is undefeated at home so far SLC play. TSU, SHSU, & SFA are 1, 2, & 3 in the West. SFA is 4-2 at home as well. It'll be tough, but if Lamar can get 2 wins, they should be in the tournament, if they only get 1, they'll need some help. I think you can beat TSU, who's only 2-4 on the road, and BMT is a tough place to play. SHSU is the other possibility, because we're only 3-3 on the road. However, Lamar has always had some trouble beating Sam, even at home.

 13. Somebody just got their jersey retired, but according to Dave, "not the number, just the jersey." So my question is, how do you retire just a jersey?
Pretty sure they won the conference championship last year.
Actually, they didn't. Texas State won the conference championship last year, and Lamar won the Conference Tournament. There's a big difference. The tournament only decides who goes as the auto-bid. Just like a few years ago (maybe 2-3), Texas State won the conference championship and SHSU won the tournament, but both teams were fortunate enough to go to the NCAA tournament.

It happens with coaches and teams all the times. It's not like USD is the ONLY team who's had a game taken from them. Yea, it sucks, but it's part of the game.
Best defensive team in the conference and they're sitting at 6-5 tied with about 4 other teams.
 22.
Lamar will win 6 or 7 games next year.
Which is an average SLC team, perhaps the best thing Lamar can hope for in their second year. I definitely don't think you'll be the worst.
 23.
Why attack TT, when me, BR360, and Puddin also all gave predictions on the season.
 24.
The only way you can't see us going 8-3 JJ is because you don't think we can beat SHSU, right? Otherwise, these are the W's I think we "can" have. Langston University WIN at South Alabama LOSS Incarnate Word WIN at Southeastern La* WIN Northwestern St.* WIN at Texas St. LOSS C. Arkansas* WIN at Sam Houston St.* WIN Stephen F. Austin* LOSS at Nicholls St.* WIN McNeese St.* WIN I'm not saying we will win all these games but I do think it is possible.
No, I don't think you'll beat us, I was just trying to pick a third loss for Puddin.
 25.
Northwestern State has a history of being good; although down for a few years. Last year they were very competitive in the SLC. I've been to a few practices and several of our guys look a lot bigger and faster. I can't say they are stronger as I haven't seen a real scrimmage yet. We will be heavy with seniors who have been part of a team for a few years (even though we've only played one season). I can see us being up there where Puddin thinks at 8-3 or another 5-6 season. I think a lot has to do with the O and D line and if we can develop a running game to help the defense by keeping them on the sidelines for several minutes at a time; by having long drives instead of a few long throws and a quick score or going three and out on several possessions. JMHO
I definitely don't see 8-3, only because that would make you near perfect in conference, and even SFA, with their All-American, Payton award winning QB, lost 1 game and had some scares along the way. I do agree with you on the last part. You've got a SOLID defense, but the problem is conditioning, and the fact that the offense going 3 and out, doesn't help them out at all. They spent a lot of time on the field, and after a while, it's tough to sustain any defensive momentum. If the offense can practice ball control (including running the ball, sorry Puddin), then it will give the defense some time to re-coop.
