To knock of West Orange in the manner they did, and then the thrashing of Cleveland (who, just last year, played HJ in a really close game in Baytown) just shows that they have come a long way. And, I really am pulling for HF to beat Navasota. I think that would be awesome for HF to go to Regionals after all of the adversity they had to overcome this season. Go Horns!
In order for Hamshire-Fannett to go to regionals they would not only have to beat Navasota, but also beat the winner of HJ and Sealy. ;)
I consider the Regional Quarterfinals to be Regionals. They may not be playing in Huntsville, but the banner would still say REGIONAL Quarterfinalist.  ;)
These are the banners that teams put up when they have no regional titles.... ;D 8)
Ahh, yessssss- another polite and diplomatic commentary

If so, what determines whether or not a team has played a strong schedule?
I think one way you can determine is by the team talent and the margin of victories you are blowing by these teams.
" Talent" is a relative term.  If comparative scores will be a determining criteria, this might interest you.  HJ (weak perceived schedule) had a 5 point larger average margin of victory in district competition than did Silsbee (strong perceived schedule).
 5. I think your last couple of sentences make a lot of sense.  I have been taught that there are many ways to skin a cat and you are most vulnerable to relative failure when you are too hard headed to accept that as a possibility.  I would use Mr. Boeheims "zone approach" as another example that there are exceptions to every "rule".  Additionally, when discussing strength of schedule, a lot of that will become a matter of perception.

If so, what determines whether or not a team has played a strong schedule?
I am sure that a strong schedule helps to some degree but I dont consider it to be the ultimate determinant of a teams success.  There are lots of different ways to achieve a good end result.  I have been told by a reliable source that LeBron James does yoga exclusively and does not lift weights.  Conventional wisdom suggests that weight lifting is crucial to being a top competitor.  If what I have been told is accurate, Mr. James would be tangible evidence that alternatives work also.
 7. I commend you for a gracious, complimentary, and non controversial post.  This is bound to enhance you positive image among the Nederland fan base.  You definitely have a future in politics if you find basketball to be an insufficient challenge.

First, congrats to HF. I think the game was there for the Indians taking but the HF fans have exposed our glaring weakness on this thread. It says volumes about the state of a program when your opponent calls out your lack of coaching. I mean they are the ones benefiting and still saw it necessary to make the observation. I'm glad you did because I have referenced it more than once on here. If you attended that game you could only wonder why this particular individual would be incharge of such a talented program. A talent pool that has existed for well over the last decade. Its time for a change and for this coaching era to come to an end for the sake of the program and the present teams near future. I know the man personally and he is a fine individual but that has nothing to do with coaching the game of basketball. It not personal, its just business. I would like to thank and congratulate the Indians for a great season. I think its only going to get better. Good luck HF the rest of the way.
Whoa dere Indian! Haven't your past years and prior teams been very successful? Iknow time flies fast but I seem to remember last year or two, you've done well in basketball. Agreed, you do have a history of floundering in the playoffs.
... only when they run into that meat-grinder called "21-3A"! But to your questioning the Indians' past greatness - They been rated in the top 4 (or 5) at least twice in the last 3 years and have never made it to Regionals.  I'd say that's a little disappointing.  I think that's what Indian may be referring to.
My bad! Thats what I get for hanging around[s] Nederland[/s] oopps!people who think winning district  is the major goal
Dove- Didn't you mean:  People who think that other people think that winning district is the major goal.
 14. Yes I am.  Having to spend too much time defending the Nederland faithful from an onslaught that is not necessary and ill advised.  I probably shouldnt get involved in that and just be confident that those who deserve "come-uppance" usually get it.
 15. Thank you for pointing out my error.  Correction has been made.
Understood...I will make an effort..If I slip, let me know, please... ;)
I suspect that they will let you know if you slip. ;D
 17. If the Dove gets involved, I will consider all but official and offer my congrats.  Will your first official act be to schedule home and home with Nederland for the next few years?

 21. You are probably right about that.  However, my intent was to emphasize the fact that I dont think anybody ought to continually make an effort to overtly ridicule a team or community.  If nothing else, be the "bigger" person and permit those poor little "naive" people to have their opinions.  If one is so much better and so superior, surely one is capable of a small bit of diplomacy.
Well said and, in my opinion, very accurate.  I watched Dayton play 4 games in early December and they are considerably better now than they were then.
Or maybe Nederland isn't as good as they were earlier. THEY way they played Dayton certainly opens up the thought process.
So does it also open up the possibility that the Ozen girls are beatable after trailing 22-2 & 28-5 Tuesday night against Huntsville? They've been dominant all year, yet it looked like they were going down. They made the appropriate adjustments, and i assume they were the better team, or Maybe they are not as good as they were earlier either?? "The way they played HUNTSVILLE certainly opens..." It just shows that anyone can be defeated on any given night, and that's why the game is played....
;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D  Excellent analogy
