I gotcha Nash......that bet is fine with me...I was pre occupied with all of the ridiculous statements made my the Nederland contingent, thinking for some reason they should be the "favorite" in their game against Ozen.... ::)....and had the AUDACITY to be mad about it! Ridiculous... 8)
Dicky- just for the sake of confirmation: Our new bet (which replaces the original one) will consist of me taking Nederland plus 5 points and me giving you 5-1 odds by betting $100 against $20. Is that the way you understand it? ( you know I will pay promptly if I lose) -

I noticed where a number 1 seed is picked to lose to a # 3 seed. Therefore, Dicky V, I see no way you can resist the forthcoming offer. We have already agreed to a $20 bet where you and Soulja are both taking Ozen. My only requirement was that if I lost, I wanted Soulja to deliver the $ to you so you won't hassle me about the loss. I want to offer you an opportunity to enhance your proceeds. The total points scored between Ozen and Nederland in their two games was 93 for Ozen and 88 for Nederland. Therefore, if you would like to give me Nederland plus 5, I am offering to replace our original bet with a new bet where I put up $100 to your $20 in exchange for being given 5 points. If you prefer the original bet, that is ok with me but since you are particularly confident about the outcome, I thought you would prefer to make $100 instead of $20 while putting only $20 at risk in either case.

The saying on that shirt is good advice for anyone who plays high school basketball, particularly anyone who has taunted or who believes taunting is a productive effort.

Just as an aside, I have a very close physician friend who grew up in Port Arthur and knows the basketball scene very very well. He told me about a player from that area who was a high school All American whom he recently observed rummaging through a dumpster. Maybe the thought of that concerned the young man who transferred to Vidor.
Jokes aside, thats truly a sad siutation...On a different note, there were SEVERAL players with size and talent that were NOT coached by this individual, that did not make it to that plateau....still a coincidence? 8)
If you want to go that route, this individual has coached a myriad of players with size and talent who also did not make it to the NBA. Karl Malone and Joe Dumars were not NBA players because of their high school coaches. If J'Covan gets drafted, will it be because of Rick Barnes or does credit go to Knowles and Henderson?
Not looking for credit...just acknowledgement of the fact...or coincidence...However you would like to deem it... 8)
I will be more than happy to acknowledge the fact that both of these players played for a particular coach. I am, at the same time, not convinced that they couldnt have achieved what they have if they had been coached by someone else.

And trust me, he didn't look like he had been digging out of a dumpster. One thing with which you have had no experience or exposure to Dicky is taking a program from a position that is less than zero and the people to whom you refer have done just that. I believe they deserve credit for it and not marginalized credit. If Yates wins the Cross Country or Swimming Championships in Houston, I believe that would be a very notable accomplishment and whoever had been winning those championships would be wrong to try to belittle or look down upon that accomplishment simply because they believe it should be their exclusive property in perpetuity. I know this will probably make you buy a couple more of those lawn mowing t-shirts. Wear them with pride. There are probably a lot of them in circulation.

The country could use a few more like him.

From my perspective, they will be an interesting foe for you because I view them as equally athletic as the Jags.
Equally athletic? Interesting. What about their size? King and Brenham were just as athletic as us as well, but we had the size and length advantage.
If my memory is correct, Central should be a little larger overall than KP.
Ok. Thanks for the info.
KW Park plays like Nederland. Very similar personnel as well. Central is longer and more athletic, IMO. KW Park is 'smart' and relies on fundamental basketball. If they get hot from outside, watch out.
So, are thet consistent from the outside or are they streaky? Do they shoot 3's in volume or shoot less with a hig percentage?
Kinda like Nederland. If they are hot, they are hard to beat (unless we r playing Yates ::) ). If not, then they struggle to win. Have only seen them twice, but that's I gathered and I confirmed that with a couple of others who scouted them.
Come on, Dog. You don't know anything!!!! -
Athens just got back one of their top players who missed most of the season. Those who have seen them during the regular season probably dont realize they are considerably better at this point.

IF Nederland wins its next game, I want you to instruct Coach English to voice the following disclaimer if anyone from the media interviews him: " We have no cause to celebrate because we really haven't accomplished anything by being atop the district for two consecutive years and winning two or three playoff games. After all, we don't "belong" in this position and it was only fortuitous circumstances that allowed us to get here"
