[quote name="Dick Vitale" post="1188485" timestamp="1330492675"] OK, HJ crew....which game is first on Friday? and what time will the caravan be leaving?  8) [/quote] Silsbee plays Athens around 6 followed by HJ Lavega at 8 I always try not to complain about the refs because I dont think you should credit them when you  lose.  However, since we won, I am going to complain a little.  There were 5 or 6 instances where players wound up laying on the floor for a minute or two because the referees, in my opinion permitted the game to be far too physical.  Shawn made a couple of fouls that were simply poor choices/decisions but also got a couple of ticky tacky reach in type calls while referees were allowing defenders to ride the offensive player with a forearm in the gut all the way down the court.  If the refs would have been a little less liberal with the physicality, a lot of those floored player situations would not have taken place.

The good news: ! Our district will have two teams in the regional tourney and the Hawks won a less than stellar game with some very good free throw shooting toward the end of the game The bad news: 1. the coin flip theory of faninthestands worked ( although I was  somewhat correct in voicing my concern about the game  2.  I have to pay Soulja $20 for the Ozen- Central game and I have to pay Dicky V $100 for the Ozen game. 3.  The dunk-o-meter never moved tonite  Just remember our agreement Soulja, you are going to collect both bets so I dont have to face Dicky

Historically speaking, that has never required much effort.

[/quote]I support them.  My Jaguar support should not be questioned.  It's just that when you have the pieces of the puzzle in place and will be for quite a few years, we expect more.  There have been  games that we have lost (almost all of our losses) because no timouts were called, no adjustments were made or wierd adjustments were made even thought what we were doing before was working.  I'm been to almost every Central game this year, so I believe I have a handle of this Jag team.  Now, we're in the 3rd round, which is the farthest that we've been since (I believe) the 2002-2003 team, and [b]I'm happy for that[/b].  We just need our staff to come up with some things to win these games and not almost give it away as we did in  both the game against C.E. Better personnel is a component of an improved team.  If you put in different players who are playing better, you have improved.  If your existing lineup plays better, you also have improved.

As far as what are the odds of a team beating another after 4 consecutive wins against them?  I would say they are exactly the same as normal... in other words, the "consecutive win streak" is not a factor.  If Devonte hits his first four 3-pointers in the row, and you ask me what are his odd of missing his next shot?  I'd see its roughly the same as his regular shot percentage, or maybe even a little lower chance of missing it.  But that is because he has more confidence in his shot, which is one of the determining factors in making shots. We will just have to agree to disagree on the relevance of the coin flip.  There are no human variable in a coin flip( unless you want to claim the flip itself is a variable) and there are a ton of them in a basketball game. Hmmm- I dont believe I stated (or, for that matter, gave you any reason to believe) that I thought Yates will get to where they lose every game.  Possibly a little hyperbole there?  My statement, which I will stand by, suggests that their relative performance at some point in the future, will not be as good as it is now.  This happens all the time aka Sugarland Willowridge, Ozen, etc. etc. In regard to Devonte, I believe the chances for him missing his 5th three point attempt is greater for a number of reasons.  1.  His legs will have a little less bounce in them  2.  The defense will be trying a little harder to contest his shot  3.  Confidence can work for or against a shooter    I am pretty close to the HJ all time career three point shooting leader and over the years I developed a pretty good feel/understanding about the pluses and minuses regarding confidence.  I had a very successful coach who now happens to be the head of the UIL remark to me that 3 point shooting percentage almost always declines as the number of attempts increases.  I didnt do any checking on that.  I assumed he knew what he was talking about.

I remember the game and the team and never said I didnt.  However, I do remember some other guy saying that I did not see the same game he did because of the score differential at one point in that game.  Is that correct or did I actually say I don't remember the game?
