1. I am sure some of you softball gurus will know the answer to this question, but other than "shaving" what makes a softball bat illegal?  I was told tonight that having a composite bat "rolled" would make the bat illegal.  We had our daughter's Miken rolled when she was in 10u, it was offered to us after we purchased the bat as a way to break it in quicker.
2. Amanda Scarborough @ amanda9.com.  She does camps in the Houston area.  My 12 and 11 year old went last year and really liked her.
3. Way to go girls!!  10u Shockers placed 2nd in LaPorte this weekend!!  Good Job Shockers!!
4. Another HUGE championship for this team!! They are da bomb!!!  :D
5. #13 10U plays outfield left and right, and sometimes first base, and #6 12u plays left and centerfield.  Come try out anyway, you just never know, things change and people move on from teams.  They have really great coaches and from what I understand, they usually always have open practices, which has been from the beginning.
6. Well, i wouldn't say that the teams wouldn't win without them, cuz that is not true, the 12u has won without #6 when she was injured during a 12U practice and the 10u team is AMAZING and could do it as well.  No disrespect meant to the Shocker teams as a whole, just trying to love on my girls a little!!  Sorry if it offends anyone, but it is nice to have some one from an opposing team compliment your kid!
7. We heard and saw that hit, man oh man!! Our 10u team was on field six and my father-in-law and I heard it first, and turned to look and saw it go over!! Wow it was amazing!! First out of the park hit I have ever seen at Ford Park!
8. All those who agree say Aye!  Aye!!  ;D
9. Just wanted to say that today's try out, even though the weather was pretty crummy this morning, turned out to be pretty good.  Most of the girls come from different teams and all appeared to enjoy themselves.  It was nice to see them support and be friendly to one another.  Talking in the car on the way home, both my girls said they had fun.  GT Shocker practices are known to be tough and challenging, and as one coach said to my daughter the other day, "the practices from he@@".  Our girls want to keep coming back.  Any parents on the fence about coming to a try out, I encourage you to come take a look.
10. It is important for coaches to not be so arrogant.  cant agree with this at all. Coaches that are successfull will always show arrogance, in fact, they should be teaching their kids to have a certain amount of swagger themselves......medicocrity HATES excellence. I think we will continue to teach our daughter Confidence not arrogance and Humility not swagger.  She practices excellence and not mediocrity and she isn't arrogant at all.
11. Tigers9 would you please clarify your "step children comment" and let us know who this comment is being made toward?  Who are the "THEY" that you are referencing?  Also, who are the ex-GTS coaches who helped put your team together?
12. It's apparent that you are disappointed that your daughter did not make this team, but the way teams are picked isn't any different on any other team out there.  If a coach has a playing daughter and he has 2 or 3 assistant coaches and they have kids playing then that is 3 spots taken already, then if you have kids previously on the team they will pick from them before looking at others. If you look at the "new" GT Shockers, its the same.  It doesn't differ that much from rec ball either.  They need to do A and B teams so that more girls can play and if they aren't performing on the A-team and a girl on the B-team is performing they can switch them out.  I hear that they do this in Houston.  You might try OOC as far as try outs go and make sure you go to both, they lost a lot of girls.  I don't think personally that this team put up a front in having try outs, but I do understand where you are coming from, if you take a hard look at the other teams, you'll find it's not different.
13. Ok, well tell me what team out there select or not, whose dad is a coach, that their daughter doesn't automatically get a spot on the team?  I believe that is everywhere, unless the coach has no children playing.
14. The GT Shocker 10u coaches are not going to be coaching this team, and I don't believe the OOC coaches will be either.  I believe that the posts tells you who will be coaching.  It is my understanding that Donald Fabriguze will have say over who plays what position.  Although there are some parents who would have liked the team that played in Lufkin to stay together and are disappointed that won't be happening, what you are saying is incorrect.
15. I know personallly that some of the girls are bummed that all these girls couldn't play together.  It's really a sad thing.
