1.
Bballer If you call them like you see them, I hope your not a umpire. I deleted those post because it seemed to bother a few.  I did not put any names, but was not intended to offend. This post seemed to hit a nerve very fast, so before it got worse, I got rid of it, but since you brag about coping it, I guess it will stay, again not the intent to offend so I got rid of it.  Nothing to hide On my kid, I will say he was on the first list, but fell off . Rough times the last 2 weeks, not on the 2nd list. Not that it is any of your business (not why I deleted the post) My kids name has never been mentioned on here, so it not like he gets any hype from my post or any other.  This is about baseball , that all . BBaller if you have a problem with this, send me a personal messege and believe me we can meet. Seems it did hit a nerve on you, you spent a lot of time looking up my old post. I also deleted eveything, because I have learned not to post anymore, and just washing my hands of it. I also see my kid starting to come up and I wont have that and if that happens then I will find out who you are. So the smart thing is to drop it.
You had to go there. I didn't bring your kid up. You did. I don't know him or you. You started the thread remember. He's probably a good ball player or he wouldn't have been on the list. I don't have a problem with you or your kid and this is the last time I'll talk about it because I don't want to hurt your feelings. I will be at the game Friday if you want to look me up though. I'll be wearing a blue and white T-Shirt that says Barbers Hill and I'll have a blue and white cap on with BH on the front. I'm 6' 4" and I weigh 250 lbs. I look forward to seeing you. ;D Unlike yours. It's my story and I'm sticking to it. ;D ;D
 2.
PAT- I'll take that one on the chin, That was funny As sucking up goes, I don't think putting down the accomplishments of a coach or supporting him is sucking up, and doing it on this forum is going to get my or any other kid playing time.  As my kid being on the list on the best avgs, Way things are going I dont think he could crack the top 10 on his team. Saw 20-4A had a forum about their best hitters and thought it ould be cool to see our districts top hitters as well thats all.  Sounds like a nerve was hit, that was not the point of the post.  The point was that this coach has the resume that has earned respect and the season is not even over and see post questioning his choices.  Nothing personal Again Congrats to GCM, to come back after being down, showed heart and why they are district champs, really look for them to make some noise in the playoffs
You didn't hit a nerve. I just call it like I see it. If what appears to me as sucking up isn't then I apologize. There must have been a little sucking up in there because you got defensive and tried to delete your post. Of course it's kinda neat when someone quote's you it won't disappear from their reply. I still think I hit the nail on the head. I also think RIP09 is spot on with his post. I don't believe for a second that your kid isn't on that list. I don't know of anyone that keeps up with team stats if their kid isn't in the top 10 on the team. I think your kids on the list you posted and I wouldn't be surprised if he were at the top. That's usually the way it works. Nothing wrong with being proud of your kid but you gotta be man enough to admit it. I went back to look at the topic you started and I noticed you went in and deleted all of your earlier posts. What's up that? Now it looks like your hiding something or covering something up. I think a nerve was hit alright, but it wasn't mine :o :o
 3.
1st Congrats to GCM, they never gave up and proved why they are Dist. Champs I understand that second guessing coaching as fans and dads is part of the game, and we all do it (guilty). Just remember before second guessing coaching on a open forum that these players read, if they see dads and others 2nd guessing their coach, why would they believe in that coach or trust him, also going home and complaining, that gets in a kids head and blames everything on a coach or whatever. 4.
In one sentence he praises the old regime by stating “I’m impressed with their work ethic and attitudes, and that’s a tribute to the people that have been here. It’s really encouraging. The foundation of what we want from our kids is in place.” Then in another statement he says “Some of those kids can’t walk and chew gum at once but a couple months on those things make a world of difference.” To me, the latter quote is not a positive one.  Wont the athletes at BH read this?  How will they feel about their new HC when they see this?
Stranger, surely your not that stupid? ??? Do you really think a coach or person with his background, record, and reputation would make a negative comment about kids that he hardly even knows? I don't believe the man would be who he is today if he made a habit of doing what your trying to accuse him of doing. Get real and give the man some credit. Your obviously one of the few knuckleheads in this town (maybe I should have said boneheads) that I mentioned in my earlier post. Don't take things out of context to try to make things appear the way you want them to be. This was obviously a generic statement in regards to the advantages jumping rope will make in the coordination of your athletes. Nothing more, nothing less! I respect the fact that you were in love with or had a man crush on Coach Price, but get over it, he's gone and he's not coming back! You bashing the new guy that you know nothing about isn't going to change that. As a matter of fact, do a little research on Coach Gage and see what you can find out about him before you give up on the man. I have, several times over, and I still haven't heard or read anything I didn't like.
 5.
Where in the heck has Trublue and bballer been for the last 10 years??? I wouldn't have had to piss off so many people with them around  ;D ;D
First off, let me say that I'm not trying to piss anyone off. I've been around for many more than 10 years. I've just been sitting back reading and listening to all the comments until I got my fill of the bashing of the BH parents and fans. This is a very special place to me and the people here are something to be very proud of as a group. As I said before there are some knuckleheads but you get that everywhere. The change was long overdue and the attitudes of the supporters of the old staff just makes that even more evident to me. Some people hate to see the change because they feel like they're losing their grip on something that they had total control over in some way. Some people , could be some of the old staff, select parents, a school board member, bhisd employees, or some of all of those listed. BH is a special place and it should be treated as such! In Coach Gage, I think we have a man that will get us going in that direction! ;D
 6.
i am sure coach gage is very qualified to coach the eagles.  with his record, he has worked with many types of athletes and has adjusted his offense/defense in order to compensate for lesser talent and has rode the good horse when he had an exceptional player.  however, he may never have met the bh fans or parents.  good luck to him and may he continue to have success in the future.
There's no doubt he's qualified and I as well would expect him to be more than capable of making any adjustments necessary to fit the talent level of the players he coaches. As of now, I'm sure he's only met a small amount of the BH fans or parents. However, hopefully the difference we will have with Coach Gage, is a staff of coaches that will not only want to meet the BH fans and parents, but accept the support that the majority are more than willing to give. I realize we have some knuckleheads in this town but we don't have anymore than anyone else. The relationship a coaching staff has with fans and parents is a two way street. If you want respect from parents and fans then you have to give a little respect. By the way, you can't just give respect to a select group and shun everyone else and expect the entire community to love what your doing.
 7.
bballer - do you have any word on which coaches are staying and which are going?
Haven't heard any news for sure. I only know that Coach Gage is bringing his OC and DC from his days at Lewisville. I would expect there to be other changes as well.
 8.
EC vs Barbers Hill (would help EC but dont know about Barbers Hill)  8)
Wouldn't make much sense to me for BH. If your going to get ready for the playoffs you need to be tested? Nothing against EC, and I wish them the best, but facing a 2A team isn't going to help you prepare for a deep 4A playoff run if that's what your hoping for.
 9.
Check on officials?  What does that mean? How could I check on officials?  See you worry about to much.  Maybe you should worry about the things you can control.  See coaches (contrary to belief) CANT choose officials....they are assigned.  I choose to worry about things like getting to the game on time.  Watching kids act respectfully to adults.  Making sure our coaches represent themselves and the community in the proper way.  See Im not calling you names....Im simply calling you out.  You act a certain way and then dont like it when people call you out on it.  If I was a betting man, Id say Diamond J....your from Dayton or HJ or Beaumont.  Sounds like a typical non educated person from that area.  No idea what is goin on...they just like to complain.  Well sir...your not going to accomplish anything by making false accusations (tourney one sided, officials cheat, etc) So why do it?  Just pay attention to the things you are associated with and leave the rest alone.
Where have you been then? ??? ??? You've been MIA over the past couple of years with this program. We've definitely been missing the mark in more ways than one on this one!
 10.
Never seems to stop here at BH.    Teams fail to win.........it is always...  we have sufficient talent and poor coaching.   What exactly is sufficient talent.?   Been watching basketball at BH for many years.  Watched Priest , Watts and now Toon.   All three did/have done a good job.   Ruben......what changes should be made to turn the season for BH around?  Post them so the coaches know what needs to be done. My suggestion.....this goes for any program.......play the best players.....regardless of clasification (jr...sr !!).   Just because a player is a senior doesn't mean he is owed PT over underclassmen.
I'd disagree on our current coach. I don't see much actual coaching, just a bunch of screaming! Watch the bench closely and see who makes all the calls it's not him.
 11.
District 19-4A boys With only two district games remaining for girls and four for boys, GCM’s boys are the lone Baytown UIL team ranked as high as fourth place, the minimum requirement to make the playoffs, and even there, the Patriots would lose out on a tiebreaker if the season ended immediately. But it doesn’t and coach Jeff Keener’s team has a chance to make a statement tonight when GCM hosts Barbers Hill, the team it is tied with in fourth place. Now Barbers Hill has a pretty rich basketball history, but this has been a rough district season for the Eagles while at the same time being an encouraging one for the second-year Patriots. Both teams are tied with 4-6 records in District 19-4A. C.E. King and Kingwood Park are tied for first place at 9-1, having already secured their playoff berths. Ditto for third-place Galena Park, which is 8-2. After tonight’s 7:30 p.m. matchup, GCM will have games remaining at Galena Park Tuesday, at home to C.E. King Feb. 12 and at Kingwood Park Feb. 16, basically a trip through the league’s murderers’ row. Coach Nathan Toon’s boys still have to play host to Dayton Tuesday, then travel to sixth-place Crosby Feb. 12 and host last-place North Forest Feb. 16. (Baytown Sun)
Exactly what is the rich basketball history? ??? ???
 12.
I believe Coach Gage will come in and build relationships with the athletes, staff and community.  He made it very clear when he met the public that he isn't going to blow smoke to parents or kids regarding their ability to play at the next level.  He knows what a D1 athlete looks like and realizes we probably aren't going to have an abundance of those kinds of players at BH.  But I do think he will work hard to develop each player and help them reach their potential and possibly play at the collegiate level (D2, D3 or NAIA) if the athlete has the talent and desire.  Having coached at the collegiate level, he is bound to have good networking ability and contacts to showcase kids at the appropriate programs.   More than anything, he seems POSITIVE about his job, our schools and community.  That in itself is better than what we had.   :)
Very well said! Hopefully this attitude will rub off on the coaches that remain from the old staff.
