1. As Sir Alex Ferguson -- no bad judge of talent -- said when asked about Henry on Tuesday: "He's not a deteriorated player by any manner or means. He's still a very, very competent player. ... I think he'll be a success [in the USA]. I've got no doubts in my mind with that." I guess the fact that he is still in France's World Cup plans should have answered that question for me.
 2.
I heard them talking about it last night during MLS pregame.  That's pretty sweet!  He'll definitely be the best player the MLS has ever had.
Is his career finished across the pond? I believe David Beckham showed us that the money is nice, but I sure miss the level of play at it's highest point. Barcelona make plans to release him?
 3.
I was just wondering if there was any info on any select teams or such that plan on traveling to play games in the summer. I plan on playing soccer in college next year, so i need to keep playing as much as possible during the summer. If there is any spots i'd surely like to try and play.
AK I am not familiar with any of the boys teams since all my children are girls, however I did find something really cool while browsing the got soccer web sight. You can pick a tournament,  and put yourself in the guest player pool. Cannot verify the success rate of being picked up, but I thought it was cool that you had some kind of shot if you were willing to try and you did not have a team that was in the tournament. Good Luck
 4. The reason Kelly's girl's team is as strong as it is, is for that very reason.. There are probably a dozen or more girls playing Spring Cup and have plans to play in the Fall with SSSC or another Club. I have to give props to Brittney( Kelly Girl's Head Coach) for encouraging the girls who were not playing to join a club and several have taken her advice over the past  couple of years. She recently sent out an email to her team to remind them to tryout for a Fall program. She gets it! ( The importance of her squad playing year round)  Mike Hughes has several girls on his team and as does Steve Hernandez. I believe Kelly Kroutter may have a few more up and comers for Kelly's program. I know West Brook has several on Hughes and Hernandez as well. Great observation.
 5. Kelly Bulldogs Zach Clarke and Zuri Prince were awarded the TAPPS Div 1 District 1 Player of the Year awards for boys and girls respectively. Must have something to do with the letter "Z"! Go Dawgs!
 6. Yasmine Afshar and Madeline Horning from Kelly
Kelly Girls beat both teams...limiting the Texas higher scorer to 1 goal in 2 matches and the Forward of the year to 2 shots in their 1 meeting...Kaitlyn and Chloe both hold a warm place in my heart.. They are both incredibly hard working young ladies... But the fact remains the Best soccer players in SETX reside at Kelly High School at this current time....Horning, Afshar, Dykeman, Prince, Long and company .... 3-0 against Lumberton and PN-G and more wins if you go back to their freshman and sophmore years.. This hurts me to say but I am going to say it anyway and probably delete it tomorrow. Chloe scored 50+ goals on the rest of the state. NOT THE BULLDOGS OF KELLY HIGH!!!! Said it loud, I am BLUE and I am Proud... James Brown lol!   West Brook and Kelly should have had more representation... I Can hear Watash now.. RIP put down the mouse  and back away from the computer.. ;D
Not necessarily ALL of the best players in SETX, that's pushing it. But I will say that each one of thoe girls you named should have one of these titles. Horning for Defensive Player of the Year ( she got ), Prince for Untility Player of the Year, and Afshar for Midfield or Utility up against Prince... hands down. Lumberton parents just show to be more "supportive" on this site :P Kelly is fortunate to have a high school team stacked with Div 1 and Premier players unlike most, and it shows! Very talented girls on that team.
ALL was a strecth...  You pointed out something very important though and that is stacked... This did not happen by chance it was a concerted effort by players and parents alike.... My goal is to help the other surrounding schools to STACK their rosters as well. Unfortunately it is not garnering much support (Super Gold Club).. However I want to use this forum to say this to ALL the parents.. And if most of you are Lumberton folks... GREAT!  If your child can play premier... They should... If they can play Div 1... They should... If they can play  Super 2.... They Should.. If they can play Div 2  They most certainly should... And that my friends is how you stack a roster with talented players... No magic.  Just Do IT! now where did I hear that before.

I have always admired the Soccer Spirit in Jasper... When people from the triangle say we cannot.... because we are a small market team... 10.
I definitely understand going to Houston.  Its not for everyone for sure but the ones who can keep the grades up and make the two or three trips a week over for practice.  They will improve after playing with that talent that much each week.   Its all good for those who can balance both.  Good Luck
Thanks for your support.. I spoke to another parent who knows first hand.. He said the Spring Cup season is fun.. It is the regular season that is tough, go  to school, then go to school team practice then travel to Houston for club practice and arrive home at midnight. We have been given a 2 time per week flexibility.. so we need to get our work done Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. I hoping this is going to make a significant improvement to our Kelly season and help us reach the promise land as you and the boys did this year.... That would make a great ending to a fabulous 4 years at Kelly.... See ya next season.
 11.
Is this a recruitment site for Houston clubs haha.
Nah Coach... just want people to strecth themselves... That could mean move from a Div2 to Super 2, Super 2 to Div 1  and so on and so forth... I have been a member of this soccer community and family for going on 12yrs and only want the best for all involved. I am excited about the communtiy wide tryouts, and I have investigated the rumors of a Houston Club moving to our area.. I have voiced my opinion to all the people involved and now it is up to them to decide the fate of the future soccer players in this area... You know as well as I do the ones that aspire to achieve higher goals migrate to Houston. Some succeed some do not, but they try and I commend them for that. We as a soccer communtiy have to got to want to get better, change out mindset..To put it bluntly I have never understood the feud between Gulf Coast and SSSC and SSSC and BYSC and all that stuff... I know there is going to be friendly and sometimes fierce competition because that is the nature of the game, but the idea of trying to withhold players from attaining their best does not make sense.. to me.. Now to clarify myself.. I am not in the loop.. Only hear the talk on the sidlines from parents.. I know with the changing of the guard here at BYSC that they and SSSC have a much better working relationship and I commend Mike (Z) and company for that. I have been there when others have been yelling from their vehicles to the other party about what they need to do and so on and so forth and that I have witnessed first hand.. To answer the question.. No this is not a recruitment post for Houston, because truth be told it might mean someone else going to Dallas to push their limits.
 12.
The only standout from Lumberton I heard of throughout the year was Kaitlyn Stowe. I'd like to konw about Molly James and what she accomplished this year before I make my vote! Anyone?
That is exactly why we need to have the ALL SETX tournament!
 13.
Jordan Hatler is a beast  ;D  a member of the Region 3 ODP team.  As a sophomore, she led the Cinco Ranch Cougars to the area championship and were favored to make it all the way to state, but she missed the region quarterfinal round to play out of the country.  The Lady Cougars beat eventual state champs, TWHS girls in preseason play.  Would her presence have made a difference on how far her team made it?  Quite possibly, but she had to do what she had to do. Wanted to add that a lot of really good club players don't play HS ball their senior year especially after they've committed to a college for fear of injury.  Recent South Texas premier level players that would have made  an impact o their HS teams but chose to stay off include Megan Kinneman(committed to LSU) and Brenda Salazar (SFA).  From what I hear, several Eclipse Black players will not be playing for FB Austin next year their senior year.  That changes the playoff scene.
Watched Jordan Halter today, and it was a real treat. Beast is an understatement... She is just soooo strong. She was taking shots with defenders draped on her like a prom dress. I watched her go airborne on a couple of slide tackles and shame on the opponent if she is off the mark ( now she was not playing dirty) just those tackles had some bad intentions if they so happen to catch the player rather than the ball; which she did not. She plays with fierce intensity. Spoke to her dad for about 25minutes and he said she just returned from Germany playing against some international competition. One game against the U19 German National team. I was telling him how we had just changed clubs and wish we had swithced to a premier level team earlier... Now listen up people... His comment was yeah I know how you feel, we should have came to this club 8 or 9 months earlier than we did... I'm like surely you are not serious... Your daughter is 27th in the nation for 2012 recruits... staple of the region 3 ODP team and just got back from the ECLN in Vegas and a trip to Germany... And you should have left earlier... Wow! Point is if you want to be excellent as Jordan surely is , you have to get out of your comfort zone. Great day all in all... We took care of business and Hughes and company man handled their opponents as well. I smell 4 time Pres Cup State Champs for SSSC93
Jordan and that loaded 94 team laid the smack down on us (SSSC93) in a showcase last year. We were down 4-0 at the half and to put it lightly I was a little upset being the competitive guy that I am.. So I gave a half time pep talk that went something like this... Have you ever had a team that you wish you could play again after they beat the pants off of you.. We here is your chance they are giving you another 40 minutes to get after them.... It did not help they scored another 3 goals.. I told Jordan after the game, you sure are going to look good in that Aggie Uniform... She can make the team! She just smiled and said Yes sir.
 15.
Considering how many players from this area have moved on to play for Albion(2 from Kelly, 3 from WB, 1 from HJ, 1 from Kountze) that comes as no surprise.
Newbie, You are well versed in the topic of soccer and you probably already know. Watching the 93g blue team practice is a thing of beauty... I get a buzz just sitting there... I do not think I could contain myself watching a #1 Texan team in action. I guess I am just a soccer junkie and a SETX junkie as well. I tell you however that Challenge South team with the Tatum twins has really cranked it up.. They have booted the perrenial Eclipse Black out of Premier and have Denied thier Cousins Challenge 93 from getting a glimpse.. And I really like Roy over there at Challenge 93 as well as Mike at Eclipse... Speaking of Challenge their 94 team has a stud ( if that is appropiate for a young lady) Jordan Hatler that has moved up to 27th in the nation for the 2012 recruits and is playing at 10:00am at burroughs this weekend.. I am going to stay after our 8:00am and watch her work her Jelly.. You only think you have watched a good soccer player until you have seen a nationally ranked player perform. What a fix for a soccer junkie.... Then I will go watch Hughes and his girls lay the smack down at lindsey lyons for a lunch special at 12:00pm... Oh life is Good.
WB had a disappointing end of the season as they lost to 2 teams they beat before, both Sterling and La Porte.  I feel bad for the seniors as that was their last game, but the rest of the team, it's good for them, it builds character.  La Porte may be fourth seeded in their district but they're no slackers.  The top 4 teams from District 22 weren't that far apart from each other point wise, in fact, WB tied both Deer Park (1st seed), and Pearland (2nd seed) prior to start of district play.  Due to redistricting, La Porte will be in District 21 next year so that's good for our district.  Better competition makes your team stronger.  Baytown Lee is dropping to 4a so they're gone.  Was the loss in the first round painful to the district champs, you bet!  Have they learned something from it?  Hopefully, and they're going to build on that for next year.
The district's MVP Aaron Strawser is working her butt off... Two 3hr. practices per week  with 2 premier level teams the 94 and 93 AHFC Blue. The 93 team has some awsome talent..She is only required to make 2 of the 1.5 hour sessions but she is doubling up cause she is hungry. Shame on em next year. and you heard if me me first!
 17.
Not debating you rip, but Stacy did stop possible goals from Chloe, Kaitlyn, (the first time WB played Lumberton) the La Porte twins (you know who)several times, Deer Park, Pearland, Klein Collins, etc.  The other district games, not so much competition, except Sterling.  And WB's backup goalie did save a couple of possible Stowey goals the second meeting as she played on goal then.  Stacy also did not allow more than 2 goals all season from any team.
I spoke to an insider tonight, a player that has played with all 3 of these goalies and said Stacy got her vote... I might Have to reconsider. Yes I know those La Porte twins very well!!!
 18. Lets play this out on the soccer pitch.. Mono Y Mono Y Mono Y Mono. Winner and Tournament MVP walk away with the spoils. No questions asked. We can still have the polls. forward, mid, etc.... but it will give everyone the opportunity to see these players some of us have not had the opportunity to see play. Just like the Beaumont Bowl the Mid County Madness... Late Season so everyone is good and warmed up! Make it happen Beaumont enterprise! I am going back into rehab now.  See y'all about midnight when I get another break! ;D
 19.
Missed the game on Sunday; but from the sound of it...It sounds like Kaitlyn and Chloe are becoming a nice 1 -2 punch for Spindletop Select..Its great to see two girls who have represented their High Schools very well come together and compete at the club level. Also, what an impressive start of the season for the entire team. From my past experience of watching this team, the forwards benefit from the incredible play of the Midfielders and Defense. Great Job girls and keep up the hard work; yall are representing our area very well against the Houston clubs!
Amen tooth! Now where is this addiction hotline number.
 20.
Stacy Dolan, Freshman from WB.  Shutout ALL Southeast Texas teams. YES, that includes PNG, Nederland, Lumberton.  Just sayin......
Here i go debating you again... Sometimes shut outs can be deceptive.... If a goalie is shielded behind great field players ie mids and especially defenders then the other team may not get many shots on goal to be challenged. On the other hand if these teams took 15-20 shots on her and she denied them.. then that is another story all together... I have seen club games where Bianca had no input at all but maybe a punt or two per half because Horning,Long, Hughes, Strawser, Afshar and company were dictating the game.  Stacy needs to be mentioned in the conversation as top goalies but it is not the same as the hail of shots Fontenot has to attempt to stop hiding behind her first and second line of defense. As the poll shows it is Bailey Fontenot... and she is not from Lumberton lol. Is their a SETX addiction hotline... I need to stop this madness.. HELP! :D Just say NO rip!
 21.
Okay, "rip" hahaha.. this is Chloe. Just thought i'd clear that up. I don't ever say anything on the forum, not since Freshman year.. and occasionally when my coach asks me to clear something up. I hardly ever get on it to read anymore but my dad told me you were thinking I was on here sooo I went through some trouble trying to remember my password to let you know.. not me! But thanks for all that you've said about me! See you next Sunday!
Fo sho Miss Chiasson! I know you are going to go off next Sunday. And you got my player of the year vote against my own daughter mind you. You work your tail off to improve and you deserve all the honors bestowed on you. I see you have crept up in the forward of the year voting as well. I hear if you win player of the year you may have to give the forward spot up. Oh well, you cannot have it all or CAN YOU! Kelly will be loaded next year folks... and Claire Dykeman will be back.... I am predicting they will beat St. Agnes and  win district for the first time in a long time and make it deep into the playoffs. Cannot wait til the Winter Classic... Kelly should be in the running for this one.. it went undefeated against all local teams it encounter.... did not play West Brook however, but beat PN-G twice.
