1. Alot folks under estimate our players. If you are not from Nederland or do not know the history of the players, you will find yourslef thinking it is impossible. This group has been successful in all sports since they were 8 and 9 years old. Most teams set goals that should be achievable or in reach.  These kids expect to win and never give up. They will battle to the end and not lose focus, they know what they want! They also have excellent leadership!

I'm watching the Texas game and they just committed a penalty at the end of the 1st half and the refs assessed a 10 second runoff.  I always thought UIL used NCAA rules?

Did we ever get a ref on here to explain the rule?
This is what is in the UIL rule book
38. 3-4-4. 10-Second Subtraction from Game Clock
a. With the game clock running and less than one minute remaining in either half, if a player of either
team commits a foul that causes the clock to stop, the officials may subtract 10 seconds from the game
clock at the option of the offended team. The fouls that fall in this category include but are not limited to:
1. Any foul that prevents the snap (e.g., false start, encroachment, defensive offside by contact in
the
neutral zone, etc.);
2. Intentional grounding to stop the clock;
3. Incomplete illegal forward pass;
4. Backward pass thrown out of bounds to stop the clock;
5. Any other foul committed with the intent of stopping the clock.
The offended team may accept the yardage penalty and decline the 10-second subtraction. If the yardage
penalty is declined the 10-second subtraction is declined by rule.
b. The 10-second rule does not apply if the game clock is not running when the foul occurs or if the foul
7
does not cause the game clock to stop (e.g., illegal formation).
c. After the penalty is administered, if there is a 10-second subtraction, the game clock starts on the
referee’s signal. If there is no 10-second subtraction, the game clock starts on the snap.
d. If the fouling team has a timeout remaining they may avoid the 10-second subtraction by using a
timeout. In this case the game clock starts on the snap after the timeout.

You dog fans need to look at the scores that Georgetown has allowed all season before you claim to have the better defense.

Georgetown has allowed an avg 13.5PPG
Nederland has allowed an avg 13 PPG

So I don't see how either team can claim the better D. But no one can argue who has the better O. Go Eagles

31-24 Eagles

Also don't let today's 39 points scored on Georgetown fool ya to think the Eagles defense inst great. The turnovers were the issue. Eagles turned the ball on their own side too much and gave Angleton great field position.

Hope it's a great game.

Safe travels to all
Turnover and penaltie are always an issue. the best team does not turnover the ball over and committ penalties that hurt your team. But Angleton had their share as well to help GT's O.

Georgetown will win this one smooth! i live in Georgetown and use to live in Lumberton and have watched Nederland play several times this year. Georgetown just has a better overall balanced team. ok, Nedarland played Pflugerville connally and won 17-10.. Good Game.. ha Georgetown SMASHED Pflugerville Connally 34-0... they doubled nederlands score and held them to 0! i went to that game and Georgetown Just hammered them! i know thats just one game but that just shows that georgetown has a better offense and defense.. dnt get me wrong, Nederland aint bad. i just dnt think they have what it takes to compete with Georgetown!!

Nederland has forced every opponant to play their game. Slow and steady, Dawson was could not get in a rythym.

Just curious how does the STJFL generate money? How are they doing financially?
They do not generate money. They do charge gate fees for the playoffs to cover team/kid trophies, stadium rental and referee cost. Usually the home teams pay for refs but in the playoffs, the host teams does not have to pay the refs. I do not know their financial status, however you can go to one of their board meetings and they provide a financial report.

All I know is that our Dogs defensively crushed the #1 team in texas for over 3 qtrs. If not for a busted coverage and some absolutely inexcusable officiating this could have been a shutout and it also could have easily turned out ugly. Way to go team for another magical and totally unforgettable night of bulldog football. You earned this win,, enjoy it we will never EVER forget this night.

3 big time highlights for me were
Washingtons crushing tackle of #14.
Hopkins stiff arm
Barrows indescribably exciting catch
I think Carson (QB) on the play to Barrow was equal to the catch. He used his legs to buy time and thne to throw across your body is very difficult. He easily could have thrown it way and the outcome could have been different.

listen close...your enrollment is higher than theirs...quit crying
5A enrollment starts at 2090 students, SC is real close to that

Undefeated district championships count for nothing?
Not when you get sent home in the 2nd round. :)
PC was a weak team, and Ned barely beat them, just like they barely beat Dayton....yall will finally play a real team next week
Whne you have a great defense, you let them set the tone and control the game. By the way, PC was a strong team based on yalls posting during the week and now Nederland wins, they are weak... lol

SC BEATS ANGLETON & NEDERLAND ALL DAY LONG. If we had your opening opponents, we'd still be playing. Angleton played a 6-4 team yesterday. Nederland been on borrowed time since d Vidor game.
ive seen a 4-loss team win a 4A State title----> Lake Travis.

Great season for SC, 11-1 is nothing to hang your head on. Plenty of teams would love to be 11-1. Y'all ran into a team that had a good game plan and the athletes to match your team. Good luck to y'all next year.
11 and 1 in a garbage district gets you an early exit from the playoffs!
It is like the SEC and the Big 12, SEC play defense and plays for championships. Big 12 is all offense and and think they have a shot for a championship.

Give Dem Dawgs a break its his first time in playoff territory . lol
Are you kidding?! He talked way to much crap to get a break
amen...don't talk that much trash if you can't take it...part of being a winner is winning with class...many, not all, sc posters did not learn that lesson...now they have to eat their crow
Agree. Some were on the Nederland Pflugerville thread all week talking it up like Nederland and SC was going to play

LOL!!! SC already saying GT cant lose? Heard the same thing about SC . Truth is at this level any team can lose at any time which is why we all love to watch these KIDS play a GAME we all love each week.
Watch a few GT games and you might agree.  Went undefeated this season, won their district.  They shutout 2 district opponents.  GT scored over 30 points on all opponents , except one, their first game when they scored  only 27 points.
Only 2 teams have even scored in the 20s on GT this season.
Those are facts.
Georgetown is tough, well-coached, tremendous program.
Excluding the facts, how are they a tremendous program? What is their history,need more facts
Referring to their building program that feeds their varsity.  How many schools have 2 JV teams, 2 freshman teams to feed their varsity on a 4A level?

It aint about what you did, it's what you're doing.  GT is big, fast, well-coached, solid on both sides of the ball and you win with that any day!
Who is their coach, what is resume? How many state championships?
OC for GT coached at LT for 3 seasons, 3 state championships.

HC Jason Dean.
How many championships for GT?
