  1. It will not get better anytime soon. Only difference is they will be 3A next year
  2. I do have a serious question. We all know that WOS has a storied program. That is not a question and we all know that most (not all) of the community wants Toby (that too is not a question). We hear about keeping the tradition going and that also is important. I am asking wouldn't it be a lot important to get a guy who will take WOS to the next level (as in a Carthage), not just keep the tradition alive?
  3. Good God would they please hurry up with this hire. lol, 23 pages. Yes I know I can just hit the back button, but it is kinda like a train wreck you just can't not look.
  4. Going to interesting which way they go with a couple of those school, with Shepherd going down to 3A they may want to try and put those school that are closer (like: Coldspring, Shepherd, Tarkington, Diboll) in a district, or heck maybe not and have them all traveling all over the place.
  5. There sure are some happy folks in Shepherd today. Should be way more competitive games then what we have had with Carthage and others in that district we were in. Way better for the other sports also. It's a no brainer but should bring more meaning to the Shepherd vs. Coldspring games now.
  6. I'm liking those numbers. Finally Shepherd gets a break. We will be more competitive in 3A.
  7. I do agree, this was a head scratcher. I will chalk it up to the Miles jinx.
  8. Coldspring by 6. They have the players to compete. Don't turn over the rock and you guys will be fine. Shepherd is pulling for you guys. Good Luck.
  9. I hope these numbers are the direction they go, but it seems too practical to happen. It would be nice for Shepherd, just don't get our hopes up. I still say they cut the bottom number to try and shove a few more teams in the 4A division. I know it has been stated (but I could not find it) When is UIL going to list the cut off numbers, sometime in Dec.?
  10. I do not disagree that Shepherd has never been a sports powerhouse or ever will. I assume you graduated in 08? So you should know that in the last 10 years the tide has changed in the Coldspring vs. Shepherd games. So that is a tell-tell sign for both schools athletic programs. Coldspring is not no where who they used to be (and that is not a dig, just the truth), and that goes for all sports. We can't live in the past so those arse whoopings you are talking about, are few and far apart these days. Please don't say it is because Shepherd is 4A and Coldspring is 3A cause there are way few differences in school size than the team We play in district. I do wish you guys luck in the playoffs and hope you go on a deep run.
  11. You may be right, but since the last realignment we only grew by 8 kids. So that is not growth like the Cleveland area by no means. A lot of the families that were here thru the early 2000's are leaving for a new group that has started to move in. Still it is going to be hard to grow when there are no homes to rent or room to build, Due to bigger acreage being own by families. Home shortages is one reason we can't get or keep good teachers (besides what the school district pays), or so they say. Shepherd not only has a hard time completing in football, the other sports are as bad or worse. For example (if we stay in the same district with the same schools) Splendora will have something like 704 more kids than Shepherd does, as Coldspring will only have something like 39 less kids than Shepherd. It is a no win for use either way.
  12. LOL, I will say Woodville does have one player that can swing it. But it will not be near enough to beat Hardin. But if by some miracle they do, they dang sure are not beating East Bernard.
  13. I don't know about those terms used. I just know the reason I state above is the truth. I don't get into the drama about why or who.
  14. Yes it does stink when the best teams are in one region. Would be nice to see them meet in a true championship.
  15. The State Championship in 3A will be played next Week. When East Bernard Plays Hardin. I will take East Bernard for the win. Yep I have no dog in that fight, but I have seen them both play.
  16. I think the UIL should go for broke and make the bottom number 532!!
  17. No jobs, big subdivisoins out in plum grove that is driving this!!
  18. I agree, I do think we will miss it again by just a few kids. Then UIL will stick us with a long travel for football games and then in all other sports will put us with the schools that are 2 1/2 times bigger than us. It is a no win situation. We do miss being in the same district as Coldspring, the game just isn't the same being a non district game. Good Luck to you guys Friday, bring home the district championship!
  19. Shepherd and Coldspring only have a 39 kid difference. Where Shepherd and Carthage has a 269 kid difference. Yea I know Carthage would be Carthage with less kids.
  20. Shepherd is hoping for a 17 spot move on the bottom number. If so we would be in 3A also. Will that happen more than likely not, but it would be nice for a change.
  21. Huffman is a pretty salty team. I didn't think they were as good as last years team, but good no the less. Geep06 is correct from what I can get info on Liberty is 2nd place. I am not sure on if Hardin Jefferson or Splendora is in third, but it will go either way for those two teams. One will be third and one will be fourth place.
  22. Don't know the exact records of 21-4A, but the closest I can tell will be 1. Huffman 2. Splendor or Hardin Jefferson 3. Splendora or Hardin Jefferson 4. Liberty This is not written in stone but that's what it is shaking out to be.
  23. Does anyone have the schedule for this Tournament? Thanks,
  24. Shepherd's is now on their Website
  25. Shepherd is open, head coach is retiring. Splendora was (or still is) open. I heard thru the grape vine they hired a coach from TAV, but not for sure on that.
