  1. sorry cherokee nation.......this was a response to an earlier discussion about bigger schools......I will be the first to admit that East Texas is where it is small 3A and down.....but big 3A and up belongs to DFW area......I didn't make myself clear..... And I agree 972.......If people from the Golden Triangle could come up here and see how far behind they are, I think it would be a real eye opener......I know the Berry Center in Cy-Fair is great.....but everyone up here is like that.......Check out MISD's new stadium......SLC, Birdville, Grapevine, HEB, The new stadium in Dallas, Kinkaid I think is the name.....Unbeliveable........
  2. Looks like it will happen again......Big 5A SLC.......Small 5A Cedar Hill....... We lose out in 4A but watch Celina in 3A......when was the last time a state champ came from the extended golden triangle.......You can even throw in the houston area if you want to.......
  3. By the end of the game, the entire stadium was full......the fans for the next game started pouring in at halftime......I had some friends there keeping me updated and they said it was like a Cowboy game...... The traffic was so bad the ET band didn't get there until the 2nd quarter...... Nothing like MetroPlex Football........SLC will face Westfield for the Championship......Will be a great game I bet........SLC wins another one my friends.....
  4. SE Texas football is falling behind.......I do not know why but when you get out of the Golden Triangle, you see a lot more sophistication offensively and defensively.......No way should PA Memorial ever lose a game.......They have North Shore type talent......Ozen the same way and in 3A WO-S has better talent than anyone in the state........WO-S can get away with some of the stuff they do in the GT because nobody matches up with them speed wise.......get someone that has a little speed and they have all kinds of problems (Giddings)........GT teams need to start branching out and keeping up with the rest of the state or you are in for several more years of this type of finish....... I have not seen Westbrook play but I hear they have fashioned their offense and defense to those of the rest of the state and not just tried to run it down your throat like everyone else down there......
  5. You better believe it COOP........they are unbelievable......As much credit as their offense gets, their defense will stroke you.....see if you can get some highlights of the hits they put on Evangel......They embarassed those guys........And Lufkin struggled to beat Evangel.......It was scary
  6. I agree......small school football is the best in East Texas......anything above 3A though has to go to the Metro-Plex.......4 out of 4 state champs (2 4A and 2 5A) were from up here......I look for the same thing this year with a couple of exceptions......I am pulling for Texas High this week but if Highland Park wins, they should repeat.......SLC (or Trinity wins big 5A).......Katy probably wins small 5A, but do not count out Grapevine.......HP in big 4A and Everman in small 4A.......I am a big fan of Southeast Texas football but it just does not compare to the D/FW area......you cannot understand it until you have been a part of both.....
  7. I have coached against SLC and have seen Euless Trinity in person.......SLC by 20.........SLC has been looking foward to this game for years so they can hush all the talk about the "if Trinity" BS.......There is not a team in Southeast Texas that can compare to SLC .......if you watch North Shore or Westfield play, you see some good teams with great athletes......When you watch SLC, you see some very good athletes that are a well oiled machine......There is no way anyone down there can imagine what it is like to play those people......Trinity is much the same way but not quite as explosive.......Look for SLC to make a statement in this game....... And by the way.....if you have the chance to go to this game, you better get there early......I look for around 50,000 to be there......
  8. I agree........Coach Moody has them roling.......I was coaching in the area when LC-M went 10-0 thoroughly beating WO-S......I think it was 1995......Are they playing as they were playing then....if so, they are really playing well......
  9. Compared to the school I am in and the district we are in, yes they are small schools.......4A is small school compared to 5A.......Our band is the size of a 3A school.......Our Freshman class by itself is almost a 4A school......So yes, relatively speaking, PNG and Ned are small schools......And yes, they would be hammered if they had to play in a 5A district.....I know they can beat some 5A's, but week in and week out, no way.......
  10. There is a huge difference in small school coaching and big school coaching......It is in the intracacies of the game......The little things that get you beat in 5A as opposed to 2A.......You cannot be as intricate in the small school because your time is so limited......In 5A, you play one side of the ball and the entire practice is dedicated to that position.....In 2A, you split your practice, not only do kids play both sides, but many times play multiple positions........It has been my experience that the coaches who have spent time in the 5A programs have more specific knowledge than those who have not, that dose not mean they are better coaches......x's and o's is only part of coaching......motivating kids to perform is the other part........ I can also tell you, to expand on this point, that the best 4A schools cannot compete week end and week out with average 5A schools.....Just look at Lewisville Hebron....Defending 4A state champs in a below average district........And had almost all their starters returning......
  11. Point well made.....I never looked at it that way......the only thing I can say is that in baseball, the last batteris not determined by a flip of a coin and you get to play the other team again.......I don't think HS baseball incorporates runs in a tie breaker system.....
  12. I guess none of you have ever been left out of the playoffs due to points.......every point counts when you are in a tight district race.......you all seem to be forgetting that the points that Irving gave up can come back to haount them...... here is how: If Irving Mac, Irving, and Grand Prairie are tied for 3rd......Irving Mac beat Irving by 8 so they are +8, Grand Prarie beat Irving Mac by 9, so they are +9.........at the end of the game, Irving is leading GP by 7......If Irving has just scored, now they have to go for 2 and get it to make the playoffs......if they had held Mac on the 2 point conversion, then all they have to do is kick the extra point to get in.......On the other side, if Mac was not able to go for 2, they would be left out because they didn't win the toss in overtime........
  13. I would explain the points rule and how it works but you would not understand........I can tell that from your post about which points are counted........You sound like a pee wee coach........As far as the playoffs being watered down, in some cases it is........but in districts like the one I coach in, you make it, you definitely deserve it (and we have 4 teams make it).........The point system would come into play if only one team made the playoffs......You have absolutely no comprehension of how it works......I would suggest you not comment on something you do not understand......
  14. You must not be a coach, nor do you understand the tie-breaker system Lucky......how would you like to stay home from the playoffs because you were -1 on the points........what is stupid is that Irving didn't try to stop them.......wouldn't it be ironic if Irving was tied for 4th and lost out by 1 point in the tie breaker
  15. Who ever said PNG had speed.......Never had it, never will......
  16. and FIELD......good grief......haven't had my coffee this mornig
  17. ooooppp!!!!!!!!! techNology.......that was horrible
  18. That is hillarious you guys are freaking out about a $6.00 ticket.......It is $10.00 up here at the gate.....You can get them for $7.00 in advance......Of course everyone up here pretty much has Big, nice stadiums with great techmology and filed turf.......I still say the Golden Triangle is 20 years behind everyone else
  19. 4-A is 4-A......there is lots of talent up here but they have to follow the same rules of attendance as you do........ Ned's loss to Vidor will come back to haunt them.......I don't see Ned running the table but Neuman is a great coach........maybe he can recover from that loss...... For them to lose to Vidor, the talent level must be down in Ned
  20. Vidor's win over Ned. was huge.......but not going to be enough.....Dayton, PNG, and Central will be the teams to beat.......I pick Dayton to win the district......PNG gets in on coaching and central with speed........ Would love to see some of these teams try to strap it on with some 4A teams up here........not even in the same league.
  21. Sorry fan.....just yapping hoping that the support for Moody doesn't go unnoticed......... Go Bears.... PN-G 27 LC-M 7 PN-G Dayton Central in the playoffs .......Best team in the district on paper=Ozen......less with more than anyone in the state
  22. That is good to know.......I like Moody.......I hope he is able to survive there.......Winning cures a lot of ills........It is the people that "have the supt.'s" ear that have been the problem......the people who think they have some stroke or feel like they have some say just because they are who they are.....
  23. I had heard they quit........I am glad to see that they are not coming back.......However, will the community allow him to make those tough decisions or will they butt in.......that has always been the problem there......I will say it again, it is a hard place to coach because of the outside influences.........
  24. I really do not think it is going to happen for BOJO.........Coach Moody is a fine man and good coach.......LC-M is just a bad situation........The people there need a dose of reality........They do have some athletes and they do have some size, but the community is going to have to let the coach, coach........there comes a time when a kid needs an a** chewing and a coach needs to be able to do it without worrying about who's kid it is........The same old people keep there nose in the business of LC-M athletics and continue to make it a tough place to win......Good luck Coach Moody.......You are a good man......I hope you can change the atmosphere there.......
