I gotta' go see me some 6-man FB!

I sorry to see that Cleveland has not turned around their bad start. Despite Huffman's explosive offense, I don't think they will scored as much as Coldsprings did against Cleveland, but I pick Huffman by 2 TDs.

Nature vs. Nurture, the age-old argument. Some people seem to born with leadership qualities that positively infect others, thus mental toughness can be contagious or "learned." Good coaches are one example. So, mental toughness can be innate or learned; however, I lean to the learned side.

Vela was the announcer at the Jr. high game on Thurs. night but did not announce the Varsity game. The Varsity announcer has a script that he follows based on the time. School songs at a certain time, Moment of silence at a certain time, and National Anthem at a certain time, all timed out so that the coin toss and kickoff can start as close to 7:30 as possible. Most coaches know this and have their team on the field. As far as the two mile hike from the dressing room, Splendora's dressing room was the same distance. Huffman Coaches knew the distance from the dressing room because they were on the field warming up before 6:00. I know the bus did not drop the team off at the gate.

Wasn't there though, so can't judge, and I'm sure what you say is true, but most host teams wait on the visitors. Unless Huffman was more than 5 minutes late, going ahead with the National Anthem was in poor taste. -
Good defensive game.

I wouldn't cout Shepherd out, they had to hardest schedule to stat district off, As i see it, IF they win out then they will be in the thick of things, Splendora is in the drivers seat but they can't slip up any, Shepherd played both Coldsprings and Huffman already and Liberty has only played Huffman and Splendora has only played Coldspring, Cleveland still has both of those teams to go, so that would put them with 3 losses at a min. If Shepherd wins out they would have 3 losses as well Liberty has to win out also but I can't see them getting by Cleveland and the game with Shepherd will be close, and if Splendora wins out then they will only have two. So it is up in the air right now, but this week will go a long way in seeing who will get that 3rd spot. If Shepherd looses then they are done for the year as well as Liberty, So let's see who steps up and gets it done, Cleveland, Liberty, Splendora or Shepherd.

Good post with correct information, this week sets the stage for a lot of things and it is going to be exciting to see what happens. Go Shepherd!!
I agree that Shepherd's pre-season was not easy, but Cleveland's was tougher...but I'm not sure Cleveland can turn themselves around. -

Tarkington has a good punter averaging 40+ per kick.

Just naming some I know..
QB; ColeDeberry - Huffman
WR; Casey Martin/Joel Witwer - Huffman
RB; Cody Cummings - Coldspring
LB- Kedrick Harrison - Coldspring (Jereyll Sykes of Colspring also scares me a bit. )
Sykes? Will there always be a Sykes at CS? Seems like there's been one every year since the 90s at least and probably long before that.

Sheherd to make the district more intersting!
Agreed--and very likely to happen. -
Not close this year--Coldspring wins by at least 3 TDs.
-
Going with Anahuac because of home field advantage, but I'll root for the Bucs. Someone already said it-- very strong district!

Hey Liberty Panther fans. I have a question about one of the players. Ryan Melton is the son of an old friend of mine and I was wondering how he's doing. I tuned in some earlier in the year and he was on the offensive line. I tuned in last night and he was playing defense. And I swear I heard the announcer say they attempted a pass to him! What gives? Does he just play all positions? Or is there another Melton on the team?
Maybe--but I think that the only two teams with winning records will be Coldspring & Huffman. The rest will duke it out. I don't rule out Cleveland or Shepherd for that matter. The race for third will be interesting. -
Surprised that the game was as close--I expected Huffman to completely roll. Congrats Huffman and to Shepherd for keeping it that close.

The difference between Coach Tullos when he came in and Coach Maples is that Coach Tullos inherited a losing program that was going nowhere. Coach Tullos did have a mediocre year his first year but he brought in quality coaches, demanded discipline, respected the kids and in return had the respect of the kids and was able to upright a sinking ship.
Coach Maples on the other hand inherited a highly successful program with 16 returning starters. Coach Maples biggest mistake was to try to change up an offense that these kids ran for 3 years (with much success) in such a short time. (actually his biggest mistake was taking a job in a district where certain board members think they have the authority to try and run the athletic program and a super who does not have the back bone to stand up and support his A.D.) I believe that if Coach Maples can weather the storm and has a chance to run his program with the opportunity to have an off season he will probably be successful as Cleveland has as much talent as any one in the district.

So being comparable and you have seen both team.. do you think this could go either way.. I haven't seen ec play just seen their scores but you can't judge a team by scores.. ec always has a good team.. I'm excited to see this game..
Yep, seen them both, but I was speaking more about size. EC didn't have Jones when I saw them, but they've played much better since he's returned. I think EC is more balanced and definitely had a better defense, so I go with EC on this one. It could be a high scoring game, and I wish I could be there. -

East Chambers will win by atleast 14..&&umm..
ec being the way bigger team,
pretty sure East Chambers is the same size as Hardin..
Yep, seen both teams and they are comparable. -

Man, I stunk it up in week 5 >:(
Me too! -
EC is on a roll and Hardin's in a tailspin. Both have talented offensive teams, but EC's defense is stronger, so EC by 2 touchdowns.
-
I'll go with Tarkington...time to turn it around.
-
Though Huntington has improved, this will not be a pretty night for them. Kirbyville by a lot
-
IMO it was gonna be CS then Huffman for district all the way--by far the best teams in this district. A dog fight for third--probably Shepherd, unless Cleveland finds themselves.
