They are laughing at Lamar all over the internet and posting that stupid picture of Lamar off "Revenge of the Nerds".
Not necessarily doubting you, but I haven't seen much of anything negative about Lamar on the SFA sites. Where are you seeing what you described?
I doubt too many people are thinking about Lamar at all - except LU fans.  Yeah, SFA put a whippin' on us but I'll take our 2-2 record.
 2. I'd like to hear everyone's comments on these stats: Matt Burnett's record his last 5 seasons at PNG, 2004 - 2008:  29 - 22 overall 2 - 2 playoffs 2 District or Co-District Championships 1 Losing Season Larry Neumann's record his last 5 complete seasons at Nederland, 2005 - 2009:  29 - 24 overall 3 - 4 playoffs 0 District Championships 1 Losing Season These records are VERY similar yet one coach was "reassigned" and the other is generally regarded as one of the best coaches in the area.  Why the discrepancy???
 3. Great night for LU!!!  College football is finally back in the Golden Triangle.  The stadium looked great and the flyover and fireworks tonight were a nice touch.  As for the game, the Cards looked a little flat after last week's strong showing and "moral victory" at McNeese.  But hey, a win is a win especially after 21 years.  And you've got to give Webber Intl some credit.  They were a pretty solid team. One small criticism.  Why the 6:00pm start?  It was hotter than heck and us fans on the east side had to stare into the sun the whole first half.  Maybe I'm missing something but it seems like a 7:30pm start would've made more sense.

Nederland has never had the true thoroughbred atheletes that some other schools had. Thats no excuse for poor playing, nor is it a knock on our players. Nederland typically has one or two good athletes but its the teamwork aspect and the fight that we have in our players. You dont see many Nederland players going on to play D-1 ball. My concern grows when I see someone giving up on a play. Last week one of our receivers tipped a pass and the defender intercepted it. Instead of trying to tackle the guy, he just stood there looking at his hands in amazement that he didnt catch it. I cant tolerate that kind of effort. Thats simply poor dedication to your team. Back on topic, Neumann has had great success and overcome lots of adversity over the years, and to me, hes the best coach in this area. As for the score.. Nederland takes this one.. BIG.. Nederland 35  GCM 14
In 2007 Nederland had two future Big 12 players - Dravannti Johnson (Texas) and Stephan Huber (Baylor).  Johnson was an All-State defensive player at Nederland and now starts for UT.  I'd say those two qualify as thoroughbred athletes.  By the way, this was Neumann's only Bulldogs team not to make the playoffs. As for this game, I agree Nederland wins easily -  Nederland 28  GCM 13.

My point is that since Neumann  has been here how many losing seasons have they had??? In the 80's and early 90's nederland barely ever had winning seasons.  I know it is not exactly same. Districts had more big schools. But give the guy credit. He has restored a winning tradition in nederland. Taken nederlands crappy fans and turned them into Bulldog nuts.  In 1993 no one cared if they won or lost. Now the fans are radical. Mostly due to the fact that Neumann has turned a losing program into a winning one.
Point well taken.  I just wanted to remind our younger fans that while Nederland was in the dumps just prior to Neumann coming on board, the program has usually been pretty solid.  But yes, Neumann deserves credit for resurrecting a very lackluster Nederland football in the early 90's.
first off, who are you to say that after all coach has done for nederland, second seriously who are you to say that... you probably are some screw up who got kicked out of football and are just holding a grudge... in the past 17 years football has made the playoffs 15 times.. basketball 2?
In the past 17 years, the basketball team has been the District champs one time... football once.
 8.
First off, I'd like to know where Scout got his info. I personally spoke to D's dad Saturday night and they weren't going to the Dr til today. As a matter of fact, they are at the Dr as I type.  Sounds like someone is full of @$^%&(&*&^% and is starting a rumor. It is true, D has a sprained MCL, but it sounds like the decision to play won't be made till game time. Now let's give it a rest til we learn what the Dr. recommends.
Apparently Scout got his info from a pretty reliable source.
 9.
They beat 5A FB Marshall, they scrimmage Dayton next week.
A little perspective.  FB Marshall's record last season was 2-8.  They are 5A but should be 4A.  Their enrollment according to the UIL is 1390 while Nederland's is 1459. Don't know anything about the scrimmage except what was written here.  Just saying let's not get too excited about "beating" this 5A team.
I disagree with this.  If all of the local clubs would consolidate to form one solid club it could be done. Keep the local clubs as satelites for the young ones because I think neighborhood teams are vital for little kids.  You know your teammates, they can carpool if needed, and the opportunity for spontaneous knock-arounds grows. But once they get to U14 or so, bring em all together and separate the wheat from the chaff so that instead of 4 to 6 teams that are so-so, you have one team that should be very competitive and couple of more that shouldn't be too far behind. I really don't think this area can create more than 3 teams that could go to Houston and compete on a regular basis. And by "volley ball" I meant that I would play a ball onto our roof, and then when it came down I would try and get it back on the roof within 2 or 3 touches.  I have been call a female several times, though.
Once you separate the wheat form the chaff, what happens to the chaff?  What does the 13 year old kid do when he or she is told that they aren't good enough to be on one of the "solid club's" teams?  What do the 15-45 kids that are left over do when you reduce the 4 to 6 so-so teams down to 3 teams that could go to Houston and compete on a regular basis?  Do they just quit playing soccer?  Remember, after consolidation, there are no teams for them at the local clubs.
Bon Mot, this last statement abut consolidating the local clubs to form one solid club seems to conflict with your first post where you criticize the "Pay to Play" system that results in too many kids being left out of the process because they can't afford the travel or trainer's fees.  If our area went to one consolidated club, where are the kids that can't afford the travel or training expenses going to play?  I'm not a Mensa member but it seems to me that the more options we can give our kids the better.  If they want to play on a team like Mike Hughes' great but alot of kids aren't willing or able to make that kind of commitment and if there are no other local clubs they're not going to play at all.  Just my two cents.
 12. Josh Ozio from Bridge City made the Beaumont Enterprise Super Gold team (2nd team) but didn't make 1st or 2nd team All-District.  Congrats to all the kids on each of these All-Star teams but some of the selections are hard to understand.
I can not believe this. Lumberton won the game. They did get lucky. It was going to be one of the teams getting lucky. As for the refs. They were terrible. They were trying to pick arguements with the girls. She was clearly one sided on her calls. She would move right into the way of our player trying to make a play. I have heard biased people and Lumberton fans say the same thing. I can not believe that Lumberton is still complaining about nthe game and of course they thought the ref was good, they won. They need to move on and concentrate on their next opponent. As for as one player making all of the stops for Nederland that is a very unfair statement. I feel like all of the defensive players had some good stops and every player did a great job. But of coarse they would only give her credit. She played for them. I find it crazy that Lumberton can not get over themselves. Also, soccer is a rough sport. No room for whiners and if you think getting cards is a bad thing it is not. That just means you are aggressive. There is no reason to complain about the Nederland coach because you feel the team is rough. These girls are in high school they are not six anymore and like I said soccer is a rough sport. There is no need to continue bashing the girls or the coaches you won. Show class and be a good winner instead of a sore winner.
What sports girl means is there is "no room for whiners" except for her.
 14. Charles St. Stadium 341 Charles St. Humble, TX 77338 The field is about 1/4 mile east of Hwy 59 and about 1/4 mile south of FM 1960 in Humble.
 15. I don't understand the Kirby Bellow at-bat.  If he is unable to run, why even let him bat?  Was Bellow unable to run or just under doctor's orders not to run?  Either way, I don't get this strategy.  Just seems like an unnecessary risk.
 16.
Good win. Should all but lock up 1st in district.
You lost me on this one.  How does this win all but lock up 1st in district?  Even with Ozen's loss tonight, Nederland is still one game back with two to play.  Nederland has a chance to win or tie for first but it's far from wrapped up.
 17. The Horns' problem - only 8 assists tonight.  Kansas had 17.
 18. I agree that Nederland's basketball program is headed in the right direction but for now they are only one game over 500 for the season and 2-2 in their last four games.  Let's not get ahead of ourselves Bulldogs fans.
 19. Good win Dogs!  Apparently, good coaching paid off for Nederland.
 20. Good win for LCM! Islander - Great write up, as usual.
 21.
One of the best high school games I have ever seen.
Do you mean it was a well-played game or an exciting game or both?
 22. Ok, I think I got it now.  The red card had nothing to do with the play.  It was due to the "altercation" after the play.  Correct?  Was there a foul called on the play?
