Will Flanigan win with West Brook next season?
Cougtalk replied to BrookAlumni's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Flannigan needs 4 seasons. He's a perfectionist he needs to have kids who have been built by his system to be productive. Give him four season he'll get you to the playoffs and beyond. He's not a 3 play coach, most people are like he's running the same play but he's not zone blocking schemes involve most plays looking similar so that you can't read the play off the ball. Most observers can barely tell the difference. even if to the same hole he uses counter actions he uses wraps etc all of these are different plays that are common. Also most of his work is done with formation not play call simple plays putting guys in different spaces with formations is they way he coaches and calls plays expect that to be the norm. Good coach not a great motivator but a solid football mind. One last note Flannigan needs a cutback runner to be successful a kid that can really just stop and start, and a solid footed good armed QB if he had those two things he'd have an easy time winning. -
Having known many Mormons and CLDS people, the statement he turned down scholarships to go on a mission is false. Almost every university in the United States respects "religious missions" and offer pending scholarships... i.e. a scholarship for 2014 instead of 2013. No offense but I've had friends go to college for all sorts of things and be LDS and go on a mission previous to going to school (Track, Soccer, and Volleyball.) Montana was not big enough to play at the college level at the linebacker position, he probably wasn't fast enough either, kid had good instincts and played hard. I'm really suprised he didn't get dII or D3 offers. But not a d1 prospect.
I am setting up a class for you guys free of charge........... Syllabus as follows....... Class name Reason for class 1 Proper message board etiquette (uses very poor judgment in most all messages) 2 Proper way to handle a team win (uses very poor judgment gloating over winning a rather weak district) 3 Local football knowledge and history (shows extremely weak knowledge of area team programs) 4 How to handle a team loss (uses many truth deviations like Georgetown is a 5a school) 4.1Understand the 7 stages of grief (did not handle the loss well at all) 4.1a Shock and denial 4.1b Pain and guilt 4.1c Anger and bargaining 4.1d Depression, reflection, and loneliness 4.1e The upward turn 4.1f Reconstruction and working through 4.1g Acceptance and hope 5 Football knowledge and strategies (showed little to no knowldge of football at all) SC fans weakest area of all!!
The reason the teams won is bc thru have better players. If $$$$$ does it why does kingwood stink?
He answered that it's money spent on football program... they aren't paying a coach 130k a year.

You just answered your own question.

Obviously we have the Twins coming back Key defensive players coming back. Kyle Williams, Chase Nix. All but one on the Oline will be back. That's a positive. Lots of seniors gone but the sophomore class is really good this year, and should make-up for losses. Hopefully a second year in the system means smoother play next year.
The way Connally played Nederland, I think it's going to be an uphill battle for Crosby against a Manor team that also beat Connally. 17-4A looks stronger than ever this year. I do think Crosby can win but if they are average or worse today, no way they'll win.
We will See. We did play Nederland about 3 months ago... hopefully if we played them again it'd be a bit closer. They also beat that Connally team in a close one. Nederland is really good, but 10 points is about what they give-up and 17 is a bit low of a total for them, but they aren't the best offense in the world, they rely on that defense, and that defensive line. The one thing that Scares me a bit is it seems like Manor gets off their blocks well, but i didn't see a single screen-pass "Defensive highlight" And i wonder if that's one of the things they suffer against, as normally HUDL tapes include atleast a couple big interceptions or huge hits on a screen pass, and they had none... of course its probably just because they didn't play many teams that ran screens. Also i don't think that Brenham/Huntsville/Montgomery where all that good this year. we all have a common opponent in Willis. and The Cougars couldn't stop scoring on them. 63 vs. 40's for all those teams... I mean the cougars second string scored vs willis. Manor's Key to the Game will not dropping three balls on the ground and giving them to the Cougars... Because the Cougars like to score on turnovers.
defense wins championships !!!!!
Really? Where are all those Trophys from those defense heavy schools? Great offenses with Good Defenses win Championships in HS. Maybe in College or the Pro's but in High school its always a great offense, and a good to very good defense.

Looked at old Forum post seems your right. I think it looks like this 1st team offense- WR -Torrey Hunter (SC) Dequan Ruffin (SC) Greg Hogan Jr(Crosby ) QB -Aston Walter (Crosby ) Caleb Denny ( BH) RB -Keevon Aldridge (SC ) Kyle McBride (Day) TE- Jordan Feuerbacher (KP) FB- Nickolas O'Neal (BH) 2nd team offense- WR - Isaiah Chambers (Day) Raelon Singleton (Crosby ) Justin Walter (Crosby) QB- Jaylon Henderson (KP) Devlin Isadore (Por ) RB- Jordan Braden (SC) or Demerius Smith (SC) TE- Kameron Wheeler (SC) FB- Eric Munoz (SC) MVP Offensive Player of the Year: Austin Walter Overall MVP: Aaron Sharp New Comer of the Year: Jhalen Demming I'll also point out with how random our previous All-District picks have been in 19-4a you could see 1 to 8 cougars, depending on how much hatred is out their... I'll say this i'm pretty sure Sharp is going to be Unanimous, but i Think your going to have several people going Austin Walter for/ O MVP because he simply took over several games this year, and it was extremely impressive (KPK/BH/CEKing) Where all just taken over by him in the Second half.

Dayton Poster have all started hibernation... = a total of 15 poster who still care about 19-4... we lost the 75 from Dayton.

What game (s) will you be at this weekend?

Crosby vs. Manor... obv. -
Wow Owens made Huntsville look like they where standing around... they where but he obviously made them sure they couldn't win.. That Owens kid reminds me of Austin Last year... a Tremendous burst but can be caught in the open field. Kids got tremendous balance. Yikes this is going to be a show... Au Walter vs Owens. I think the X-Factors will be yalls receiver who just goes gets the ball in these highlights, vs Aston Walter's ability to just make plays. The more i watch the more i see mirror images of one another.
Listen. I'm reading a bunch of Summer Creek posts about Nederland. Let me say this first. We gotta get past this game first. We are gonna keep running the rock, and relying on our defense to create havoc and turnovers for the other offense. We turned the ball over twice inside Dayton's 25 yard line and missed 2 field goals. Thats 20 points off the board right there. So if you want to keep talking about us not putting up more points and keeping the Dayton game close. It could have easily been 41-7, not 21-7. Even at 21-7, Dayton was NEVER in control that game. Never. Pflugerville Connally.... I really dont know much about this team, and frankly, i dont have too. I keep saying this every week and people don't believe it. Nederland has the best defense in 4A in the state of Texas. NOBODY can match up physically with us on the front line. We consistently get into the backfield, and our linebackers, corners, and safeties feed off of that. Not that their not good enough already. Nobody in 4A has seen a defense like Nederland's. Not even Pearland Dawson. Gotta get past Pflugerville Connally first and foremost. Then roads lead to Pearland Dawson, who we will beat. Call me crazy if you want. And by the way. I was listening to that Vidor/ Summer Creek game. If it wasn't for Vidors turnovers, Summer Creek would be playing basketball, and Vidor would be in the 2nd round. If we end up playing Summer Creek, which I think will happen, they won't go any further. People keep underestimating our defense every week, then come time to play, they get housed by Washington and Co. NEDERLAND!.......BULLDOGS!.......NEDERLAND!.......BULLDOGS!
It's Playoff this stuff happens teams play inspired. the Cougars had the same chances against Ozen. So it's just win and move on that simple.

I know the 20-4a fans hope it's Crosby. If the 3rd place team from 17-4a beats Ned and Crosby beats the second place team from 17-4a its going to look even worse for 20-4a. Manor just beat Connally the last game of the season for 2nd. Ned definitely has the easiest draw. Just putting the SETX on notice though: If Crosby knocks off Manor you can pencil us in for the regional championship against Texas City/FB Marshall winner. There's a report that one of our 3 year starters at LB broke his foot at the end of the game though, if this is true we just lost a big playmaker on defense which we really couldn't afford against a team that can move it like Manor. I still love our chances though.
How so? we already beat you head-to-head. Never mind, that's the reason for your post anyway. :)
You beat us head to head with in the first game with our new coach and live play-calling. We've progressed since then. We had an ugly loss to Dayton but had more yards than Ned and scored the same 21 points, defense just decided not to come to Liberty County with the rest of the team. Y'all scored 21 on us and put that same 21 on Dayton. I don't think Ned could beat us now, plus you know when we get Ned in the playoffs you can pencil in the W or at least that's how the last couple playoff meetings went. Either way good w this year, see you in Crosby next year . . . . . and y'all know how those games west of the river go. ;)
Jesus Christ... Stop talking. Nederland would demolish the Cougars, they've gotten much better, and regardless they have the best d line in the State, and that's Crosby's fundamental weakness. SC would beat us, Nederland would beat us. No question, the deal is we don't have to worry about that because we are d2. Bh would still lose, i really don't care what they say about "being better" the cougars have their number and the twins know they can run wild on that defense. As for the Question i Think Elgin knocks out BH and no one else loses.

If the Twins from Crosby are as dynamic as you guys say they are, this should be a very close game. Manor has been good against the run ever since the Leander game. That game taught us a lesson about "big boy" football. We are extremely quick at the skill positions. If Manor cuts out the turnovers and penalties from last week (4 TO's, 16 penalties), we should be able to pull this one out.
And if we had cut the two redzone turnovers out we would have put up 30+. The first td Ozen had was because of a penalty where we stopped them on 4th and 5 where they tried to hit Brown in the endzone but the Crosby db made a play on it. Ozen got a first down because the Crosby corner on the other side of the field lined up offsides, they got a first down and scored from like the 4 yardline. They should have only had 7 pts had it not been for a cheap penalty. I thought the last fumble at the 5 was a bad call because Aston's arm and head clearly hit the ground first which is the only reason why the ball popped out, so that call cost us another 7 but Aston could have slid instead of jumping over the guys head and probably avoided the turnover. Crosby's offense has never had a problem moving the ball on anybody, anywhere, any time. Our problem has always been defense, penalties and turnovers. Defense put up the second best performance of the year vs Ozen and offense moved it the second most. Aston fumbled, but it was a bad call and you really can't tell him not to go all out in that situation. Next play he would have turned around and handed it to his brother on the 5 yardline and there probably wouldn't be a discussion. Austin put up 200+ yards (most of anybody all year), and Aston should have had around 150 through the air bet he missed Singleton on a post for about a 50 yard td. Ozen didn't have one turnover the whole game besides the fumble on the last play of the game Crosby jumped on in OT. Manor gives us 4 extra possessions and 16 penalties to go with it you can put Crosby in the regional championship.
But but but........if only if only if only...... Lmao you sure love to live in "what if" land a lot kid.
If only... Vidor didn't get beat and you still had something to cheer about
What's they story on Crosby? What type of offense do they run? Just trying to see what my Mustangs are up against this Saturday.
Crosby Runs a spread system, we run a little more than other teams. Fast Tempo etc. If you've seen sulphur Springs play our HC was there OC when they won State. Defense plays a multiple D front this year, depends on the offense and whats successful it goes from a 4-2-5 to a 4-4 bear, sometimes its a 3-4. So lots of looks up front. I'm pretty sure the tricks have been left in the bag as we saw something new on offense vs Ozen when it came to crunch time. Big playmakers on the Offense are The 3 Walters. WR, RB, QB. The RB is d1 material without a doubt, the WR is solid, and the QB is undersized but very very explosive with the ball in his hands. The Defense is pretty fast to the corners, we've been beat by 3 very good teams Nederland/Dayton/Summer Creek. Nederland beat us with there Defensive line. Dayton is in our heads Summer Creek was just a vastly superior team. (They may win state, that good.) Thanks for the Run down on Manor... What defense/Offense do you guys run?
