  1. I would not say to purge all coaches who were here. I know of 2 who came this year and did not participate in Moody's way of thinking. They came here because it is a good school district with a chance of success. They had an idea that if they could make it one season with Moody, then he would leave and someone new would come in. I do agree that those who were "Moody coaches" need to go, and I believe that they all have. Those who are staying are very good coaches who were in a bad situation last year. Just because coaches worked for a certain coach DOES NOT mean that they follow his way of thinking.
  2. I wouldn't really consider Bolton a true hire from within. He doesn't run the same offense and defense that Moody ran, and doesn't have any of the same philosophies. He came back to work at LC-M this year because he loves the school district that much. I believe that he would get the bears turned around.
  3. Just have a quick question. The list Coop gave us said Mike Long wan't Kelly's Mike Long. The Enterprise this morning said it was. Do we have clarification on this, or am I missing something.
  4. Just curious about one thing. When are the 10 days up? When was the FOI filed? After reading so much nonsense on the board, it seems like this has been going on FOREVER!. By the way, I could really care less who applied.
  5. has any one herd about livingston vs. nederland scores ???
  6. You may be an LCM candidate if you are a middle school coach who buys championship rings.
  7. LCM does not require a masters. They posted that a masters degree is preferred. This way, they can hire any coach that they want.
  8. So would he be more qualified than Dan Hooks if he applied? What about if Larry Neumann applied?
  9. Even though experience should not be the deciding factor, I do believe that varsity coaching experience is extremely important. The right fit for the job will be the one chosen. After a couple of years, we will see if that is still the opinion. Like it was said earlier, not everyone will be happy with the decision. If Coach Burke does get the job and certain kids still do not play, will those parents believe that he is the right coach or will they complain to everyone who will listen? Again, even though experience should not be the deciding factor, do you want to turn over the multi-million dollar corporation to a guy who works in the mail room?
  10. This is the last thing that I will say about this and be done. When you bring in a new guy, you are making him a representative of the community. If you bring in a former head coach or coordinator that has been successful, you are telling the community that you are putting the most qualified person in charge and are attempting to be competitive. If you bring in a career middle school coach, what message does that send? Middle school philosophy is teach fundamentals, have fun, and everybody plays. Does LCM want to be ran like little league or like a respectable high school program? I know full well what goes on in the coaching business and what happens when a new guy comes in. Hiring a guy with absolutely no varsity experience would be the biggest mistake LCM could possibly make. At least Coach Moody had varsity experience, coordinator experience, and was successful. I understand that the community wants the direct opposite of him, and you would definately get that with the MMS coach.
  11. Don't compare the coaching staff to the head coach. I am well aware of his attitude, but I also know the attitudes and work ethics of some of the other varsity coaches. There are some of them did have the attitude of the head coach because they were "his boys". There are at least 3 of the 6 varsity assistants who were excited about football and wanted to help the kids succeed. I know some of their opinions were squashed by the boss because it was not his idea. Those guys are quality men and coaches. I sincerely hope they stay and get a chance to keep working with the kids because they have gotten to know them and respect them. You never saw 2 of these guys because they were in the pressbox during games. If you were in earshot of the box, you would have witnessed their feelings on every snap.
  12. This is rediculous. You can't compare a jr. high game to a varsity game. They probably had more fundamentals than the varsity, I'll give you that. But that is what a middle school coach does. Teach fundamentals, get a large number of kids out and make them have fun. Once you get to the varsity level, it is different.
  13. bellison has it right. I wanted to be as nice as possible and not disrespect anyone. Someone who has no varsity experience has no business being a head coach/AD. He is doing quality work for LCM with what he is doing now and that is teach the young players basics and fundamentals. That is an extrememly important job in any school district. All successful programs have a solid foundation set at the middle school level. I would love to see him stay in that capacity.
  14. I do believe someone needs to get the job and stay a while. There is one on that list who keeps coming back to LCM. Coach Bolton. He left so he could coach his kids, then came back to LCM. I believe that he would stay a bear for a long time if he gets the job.
  15. I have no doubt that he cares about the kids and wants the job. The program is about as low as it can possible get. I just think passing up on some of the others who are going to apply will be a mistake. If a Mike Long, Randy Theriot, Mike Stewart, or Troy Bolton apply, I could not see LCM passing up on one of these guys.
  16. I know and like Coach Burke. He has done great things at MMS. For the head football/AD position, shouldn't LCM look for if not a head coach or coordinator, at least a varsity football coach. This is in no way meant to be disrespectful, but there is a tremendous difference between middle school and high school.
  17. Wallis and Oden backed out yesterday. Troy was called in for an interview with the board last night along with Chris and Dwight. There are only 3 finalists now. He has a great shot.
  18. More people on this board have a lot more knowledge of the situation than you do. Some jobs require certain people to have their identity kept a secret. Most of the things said about this matter are from EDUCATED people who definately have the knowledge of what should be done here. There are always some idiots who don't know what they are talking about, but I can tell you of 4 people who responded to this thread know EXACTLY what is going on. It is not junk for people to discuss their opinions on who will lead their children or the people who will have close contact with the new AD, parents and educators both.
  19. I guess if he wanted it that bad he should have taken it then. Again, just because you a hometown guy doesn't mean you should get interviews.
  20. That may be correct, but his brother didn't call the plays at Cinco Ranch. This guy can get it done in my opinon. I know him and his family and they are all great coaches. BC can't go wrong with Chirs.
  21. surely BC would not hire coaches who are former head coaches. If they were successful, why are they now assistants?
  22. If the job were just AD, he would be qualified and would probably do fine. But the job comes with head football coach and that is where he didn't meet. Like I said earlier, I know Richard and really like and respect him, so this is NOT an attack on him.
  23. What exactly qualifies him for the job? Being a head basketball coach is far different from being an AD. You can't say he is qualified for the job when he is not. How would you feel if someone took your job who had no experience or qualifications just because they were a nice guy or a hometown guy? You probably wouldn't be to happy about that. What would happen if he did get the job and BC loses for the next couple of years? Would you still be saying that he was qualified? No. You would be asking why BC hired a coach who was not qualified for the job.
