  1. " UNTIL '' OZEN begin to win year in and out the numbers will remain low and lower to the point the next stop will be 4A. Just this morning after dropping of my child at Amelia elementary school I saw advertisement signs by Westbrook. They will have a summer football camp in June for grades first through fifth. Then August there will be another football camp at Westbrook for grades 6th through 9th. Then some wonder why the kids are more likely to choose Westbrook over Ozen. Another inside note Westbrook alums coach at Odom middle school located in the "PearOrchard" Coach Stump when at the Brook put in his time visiting the Jr-Hi schools showing interest. RG3 and the two before him were too busy or lazy to put in the leg work. It is what it is. Some can and some cant handle the truth......

  2. It would be great for Ozen to have Lumberton's preseaon schedule to buid their confidence and get W's in the win column. HamshireFannett,Orangefield and BridgeCity instead they play power House PA- Memorial,WestBrook and a Florida school all 6A schools.Starting district 0-3 is a possibility. So unfair for a young team attempting to get on the right track.

  3. Coach Toby and the Jags got the program going in a prosperous  direction, the basket ball program made the state finals and the track team shines in district, regionals and state. BISD politics/vendetta should be settled Ms P.L. you gotten even from Butch special pork project Ozen.

The tide has turned, headed to Debs for libations to prepare for Mr Soulja's double barreled response be right back. I love this site and you guys.

94 more days FOOTBALL southeast Texas style !!! :D

  4. Advantage or Disadvantage is the question. Year in and year out Ozen plays a 5A now 6A preseason schedule resulting going 0-3 more times than not. What type of morale booster is there in being 0-3 going into district. There's no getting around Westbrook with the overrated Beaumont

Bowl game every year. Westbrook hang their hat on defeating under maned 4A/5ACentral and Ozen every year then struggle in their district to make the playoffs. When was the last time Westbrook was out right district champions just curious ? Take a look at teams in Ozen's district and their preseason schedule.None schedules Memorial on a regular basis or will ever schedule Westbrook. The myth about playing top teams makes you better aint always true. Wins gives you confidence that you can play with anybody ask Jeff Matthews and the Vidor Pirates. With the low numbers at Ozen the preseason schedule should be 4A schools. Just one opinion.........

  5. Ok BLUEDOVE3 heres giving it to you ''STRAIGHT'' that sucking up to the new hire exists. They really poured it on Coach Durley his first year at Westbrook. He was under tremendous pressure from parents and AD to play little Johnnie. He gave in for a few games giving all a fair share of playing time. Then he started playing the best proven players and yes some played both ways offense and defense. The rest of the story was a state 5A championship. There's several old Hebert fans that attend practices with opinions and advice. Some of those fellows never played any sport and think they know the game better that Hire. Those sideline coaches attended Coach Ozen and Durley's practices but never interfered or offered their opinion who should be playing. Hope Suggs has a pair of Gonads to play the best players and not get caught in the favoritism that all but ruined the football program when "Toe" was the head coach. That drove several good players to Central and Westbrook.

  6. Today a representative and a few Westbrook football players assembled at Amelia elementary school's library to discuss STAAR TESTING WITH SECOND GRADERS. This was a positive gesture. The players wore their football jerseys and the end of the presentation did a Westbrook cheer again a positive move. I remember as an elementary student Cheerleaders coming to my school Southerland when Hebert were deep in the playoffs. That Panther Pride started growing stronger in me at that time. A little RECRUITING and STAAR TESTING INFO. two birds with one stone. Wake up Ozen coaches and take notes. Its time to keep the Pear Orchard at Ozen. jmo.....

  7. I'm having flashbacks reading post about Hebert. Those were the days. A different time and BigCam you nailed it,it's not as deep rooted for the kids of today. When Hebert and ForestPark then later SouthPark combined that was the end of that true Panther Pride. When Ozen opened the players were use to the winning ways of Westbrook and everybody wants to be part of a winner. The top athletes continued to go to Westbrook even though they were walking distance to Ozen. Some of the Pear Orchard die hard Hebert parents bought into 5A Wesbrook being the best place for there kid's success. That formula split the talent and it is what it is today. LoL if those players were back at Ozen BISD wouldnt have the task of keeping a Head football coach every year or two.

  8. The question remains will the kids of today buy into the old school methods and teachings of Suggs. Thin skinned players want cut the mustard in an old school smash mouth three yards and a cloud of dust style of play. O- Line will have to mature, develope and be at least 2 deep at each position. There lies a problem, will Ozen have the numbers run run run? Its obvious they have the offensive backs but tight ends and offensive linemen remain to be seen. Looking forward to spring training next week.

  9. In all probability there will be spring football at Beaumont Ozen in early May. Baytown Lee was holding Suggs to his contract that expires in June. Rumor has it that he was forced to take vacation and sick leave to get over to Ozen. Two of PS3 left behind coaches will be leaving by choice. The defensive coordinator will be joining Toby and the Central Jaguars per folks in the know.

  10. I'm just keeping it real. Many have champagne expectations on a beer budget for the underachieved Ozen football program. In some opinions is a fool's notion. Going .500 is a realistic prediction. Making the playoffs is on the wish list. I wish Coach Suggs good luck on a respectable season.

Thanks to the Admin. the saga continues. I hope this opinion lites a fire under players and coaches to take the program to another level. Go Panthers.....

  11. Weight sunk the boat, its time out for the wait and see process. It's time to start working now on ''The Work Ethics''... You have to want it !!! At this point the mental toughness needs to be upgraded. Hopefully Suggs can get it going otherwise the PearOrchard and TripeCity will continue to lose its top athletes to Westbrook. FYI had Hebert never closed we wouldnt be having this conversation. Hebert would be Hebert and the current Westbrook would be Forest Park. JMO, Good luck 22-5A I'm ready for some football.... :)

  12. I'm agreeing with Cougar 14 in part, the O line minus depth and a true O line coach will be a factor. The losing record at Ball  and he(Suggs) coming from a losing program in Baytown. Hands down he was the ''SAFE HIRE''  VS The Admin. finding the best hire out there. Would it be violating any rules to seek more qualified coaches that werent on the applicant list ? I realize it may be difficult to attract an upper echelon coach with the turmoil thats currently going on in BISD. Chargois made the Safe Hire not Ozen community and the Board approved his recommendation with a 7-0 vote. You catch more flies with honey than vinegar meaning ,PNG/Nederland money will get you that Upper echelon

build the program coach. Anything less will gets you a Patch- job/-quick fix-/2 and through coach and the saga continues at Ozen. It was mentioned on this site that Ozen will never be Hebert that statement was spoken picture perfect clarity. However Ozen has underachieved for the amount of talent there now. Good luck to coach Suggs and his players... Go Panthers...
