I agree with you wholeheartedly. Is there a possibility more than 17 applied ? Is it possible they decided to only interview 17 of what they were considered top prospects. Anything further would be pure speculation on my part so I'll rest my case my on this observation. Suggs's contract ends this week or next so hopefully the hire will be announced then...jmo..

Let's be serious here. It's no great surprise that only 17 applicants applied at this late date. The downtrodden football program and the history of BISD has not and will not attract the upper tier coaches with or without head-coaching experience. Secondly $82K to $85K is not an upper tier draw card. To get a program/game changer head coach the mentioned salary is not realistic. So the end results with the football program will remain at best mediocre or less...jmo.

Out of 16 other applicants the board of managers and whoever else had input have concluded this decision is the answer??? Hope the grapevine didnt have too much of the fruit of the vine. So this is the new direction and image ???

Hopefully the new hire at Beaumont Ozen will have a full arsenal of assistant coaches to combat the terminology they were out coached. For some reason in years past there was a noticeable shortages of varsity coaches on Ozen sideline. PNG and others have a model programs with sufficient staff to compete on a 5A level. Ozen football team, coaches and fans look like a 3A school on friday nights. PNG: 13 Varsity Coaches Faircloth -Headcoach Abel-Offense assn. Ballew-Co-Off.coordinator/Special teams Bass-Off.Line Byrd- Running backs Carter-Defense line...Hartwick-Defense Line...Gatlin- Secondary...Luttrull-Tight ends McKeller-Linebackers...McPhatter Secondary...Medlock-Co-Off.coordinator/-O.Line...Templin Defense coordinator/Linebackers...Just an example for demonstrative purpose only. jmo.

It all appears to be G4 classified-( A BIG SECRET)-The BISD in house front runner/"PROVEN HEAD COACH" must not be interested...jmo...

I know a coach from a proven work ethic program and I can hear "CHEROKEE" playing in my head right now !
-
I concur with the latter portion " If BISD is trying to improve their image" the search should include outside applicants.

The current debacle at Beaumontt Ozen was orchestrated by more than one culprit by design. One can slice it any way you want to and if youre not part of the solution then remaining silent you're part of the problem. Karma has one person singing the blues today. It takes more than one to Tango. A speedy/intelligent decision is whats needed by the Admin. to cure a wound thats been open way too long.... jmo

Build it and they will come...Hire that quality coach to build a quality program, then and only then will the Ozen zoned kids will come to Ozen instead of crossing the zone line to WestBrook .I assume this is one of the down falls of having 3 high schools in the same city with little enforcement in place.... NorthShore high school- 4,723 students- grades 9-12- student teacher ratio 17:1...This would be too much like right for BISD with their champagne taste and their beer budget...You get what you pay for.

LoL he may be interested in the PAM or Central job next year and may have decided to stay put until then....IHOP run brb...

Png O-Line coach..."Orleans"..Still the one......

From back in the day the group "Blue Magic"...Step right up... let the side show begin hurry hurry....has to be the saddest show to see...guaranteed to make you cry...If the position isnt opened to outside applicants the quick fix is in. The mentality of any port will do in a storm will result in same song same results. "Ace" said it best "How long has this been going on" BISD why dont you guys get it right....Stop patching Ozen and fix it right..jmo...

Ozen's offense will be walking into a buzz-saw of a defense facing- SW-Prep Bellaire Episcopal the first game of the year... 6'-5'' 315 DT Marvin Wilson... 6'-7'' 305 DT Little Walker...6'-4'' 220 DE Bo Mannon...smh...Getting waxed the first game of the season will be a great morale booster for an under manned undersized Ozen bunch. They are short on numbers hope the injury bug want bite them after this contest. I'm curious who scheduled this and why.

Philanthropist-Boxer-Legend-Entertainer....RIP- CHAMP...

Still no word on the "interim" sacrificial lamb at Beaumont Ozen for 2016 Football season....Approximately 85 days before the first game...No Spring practice- No head coach... This is a "Come on Man" moment...

Thanks for an awesome tribute..From me a Vietnam Vet....

I'm in total agreement Nelson shouldnt have been terminated from Ozen. However Ms L and the Snake Oil salesman flexed their power and the deceptive deed was done. There's been no consensus that Nelson is interested only speculation that he'd be the best qualified inhouse choice. The hour glass runs out next friday. In the mean time wait is the word. That old cliche says wait/weight sunk the boat...jmo...

This hire will be a short term solution to a long term fiasco. I agree they were headed in the right direction under his tutelage. He would be the pick recommended by the man behind the curtain. The long term solution would be new direction from a coach from a work ethical program barring talent. Hard work will beat talent when talent dont work. Less talent and no work makes for a lot of donkey stomped losses ..And the band played on...jmo...

It aint over until the fat lady sings...I'm keeping hope alive for PNG OL coach...I realize BISD hasnt opened the position to outside applicants at this late date. So the rumor is a Central assistant...

No news and next week ends the the school year for BISD.... Taxation without representation- Suggs is receiving the pay but not actually preparing Beaumont Ozen for the up coming football season....Well not surprised BISD was paying 2 head coaches during the McGee era until they settled with him. It's too quiet on the Pear Orchard home front. I thought it was quiet before the storm. However no one seems to be concerned. Did they cancel football and just havent made it public yet ? IDK does anybody ???
-
Welcome back Buddy...You all can give Nelson the PA job next year if PA dont win 22-5A like some have predicted lol....In all seriousness folks behind the curtain are about to make that happen if he's interested. Not a bad move or good move but surely not the best move. Its time to move forward and not be like the "Friends Of Distinction" "Going In Circles"... Ozenfinest you're way too young lol. Go to YouTube....

Again I happily agree that we can disagree and respect each other opinion. Your assumption is I havent been around Ozen long enough lol. I'll only go back to 1966 when Beaumont Hebert won state. I'll step up to 1967 when the schools intergrated. From then on Hebert had some great knowledgeable assistant coaches. The community never had a problem with the coaches due to their skin color. In 1973 we had a former Forrest Park assistant defensive coach Gary McKee that was solid. So not being around Ozen is somewhat not true. Yes he'd be the first head coach and so was Durley at WestBrook. Thanks for your analysis,i enjoy your unique enthusiasm...jmo...

I cant see very well, no intent to be offensive by the over-sized font.
-
You are correct in your assessment in part. Hiring PNG coach would be a huge step in solving the '"Woes'"that has lingered way too long. I have expereienced no indications or received no vibes that there would be resentment towards a coach based on the color of his skin. I honestly think the content of his character would prevail over the color of his skin. A competitive/winning program would cure any concern about skin color.I dont share your view that the suffering community would that biased in 2016. We need to stop settling for the quick fixes. It's great we can agree to disagree. This would be the right change. WestBrook didnt believe in Coach Durley's hire from the outset and all he did was build a solid program that the community was proud to be part of. Just win baby...jmo...
