With PN-G and Crosby being in the same district, we won't have to wait until the playoffs to see another 72-69 game...

How do we compete with that in 6A? Even I can find 22 football players out of a pool that large.

Perfect storm from how you guys talk about Burnett. We gotta ID defensive kids and put em in better position next season. if you score 40, u usually win the game.

As I said that deffense had Burnetts fingerprints, but Doty was a result of Faircloth not Burnett and if you argue otherwise you're just a BF hater. Faircloth took Burnetts "kids" that won 3 games and went 11-1...end of discussion. Burnett had Lunceford, Schexneider and Doty on the varsity bench as Sophomores. Why do that?

Go look at your statement on page 2: "Hines making them look like kids." Sounds like smack to me. Guess you have a comprehension problem. No worries. Oh, and your sentence in which you say "Can you!", is actually a question, not an exclamation.

Look, I've never written for a paper or anything, but I've spent a fair amount of my adult life performing research, conducting interviews, and drafting documents related to those two items.  If it were me, I'd start with the broad picture.  Pick out 3 or 4 school from 5A, 4A, and 3A in the area and try and get the HC or AD on the phone to talk about the athletic programs in general.  I'd inquire about participation in each sport, up's, down's, remaining constant, whatever the case may be.  I'd then compare it to what we are seeing on a national level.  Why are we seeing a different trend then what is seen nationally?
I imagine that once the season starts and rosters come out, you will be able to see if there were any underclassmen from last year that aren't on rosters this year.  Maybe you could figure out a way to contact those individuals.  Of course, kids that play at the varsity level tend to stick with it through high school, but you might get lucky.  As mentioned by others on the board, my guess is that a lot of the kids that give up football are steered in a different direction at the freshmen/sophomore level by being one-sport athletes (at least for SETX).
But maybe you'll find those kids that moved on to other things and if so, run the article during the season while everyone is focused on football.   Of course, such an article run during the season might draw the ire of folks on this board (depending on the slant), but hey, it starts a conversation right?

I'm a little younger - It's not that I don't care if we beat Nederland. I get sick to my stomach every time we lose to Nederland (It's been a pretty miserable six years). And even though we have only beaten Nederland a few times over my lifetime, it feels good every single time. I just don't see a reason to put it all on the coach absent some really, really bad performance on his part. We have been in every game against Nederland since he arrived (except in 2012, but we were barely in any games in 2012). Neumann has PNG figured out, most of the time. Burnett didn't exactly dominate Nederland. And, I often forget that he isn't a local. He didn't grow up with Mid-County Madness in his blood the way most of us did. But he jumps in and gives it all he has, for the community and the kids. What else could we ask for? I agree 100% that this is definitely the most successful so far of the Faircloth years. I also think he demonstrated a lot of class over the past 12 months. I loved how he made it all about the kids after we beat Nederland a couple weeks ago. Didn't thumb his nose at anyone, didn't tell anyone to go to hell, didn't talk about feeling vindicated -- He just does his job and he devotes all of his life to making great football players. I wish he would do some things better. This is the first year I feel like he has put out a tough team. We are always a finesse team, and I've hated our inability to consistently stop the run. This year, there is a little more blood and glory in how the kids play. Side note: I'd love to see us have a 1999-caliber defense paired with a 2010/2014/2015/2016 Faircloth offense. We would be good, to say the least. Probably would still lose to West Orange, because losing to West Orange seems to be a law of nature, no matter how good we are when we play them.

Correct four teams make it, but gobback and take a closer look and you will see that only one of his playoff teams finished below 2nd place.

The crazy thing this year is people are complaining still, they are beat up and banged up with an 11-1 record.  Last year people complained that they didn't run it enough and they were chasing passing records.  This year it's they are running the stud QB too much.  He's changed his philosophy with what he's got.  That's the mark of a good coach.  On defense they've got average to below average talent, but kids that flat out give you everything.  It could be a lot worse.  Enjoy the moment and cheer on those hard working kiddos.

This is the hidden content, please Sign In or Sign Up I thought this was a particularly insightful PA News column about Coach Faircloth. I've been grateful to have him at the Reservation since he arrived. And, this may make me a heretic, but as happy as I am when PNG beats Nederland, I think the criticism over his 2-6 record against Nederland is idiotic. Stupid. Immature. Short-sighted. Foolish. It's one game. Sometime you win, sometimes you lose. His overall influence on the program has been very positive, and his absence will be felt when/if he leaves. PNG has never had such a good offensive coach, we have never had such a good mind for teaching fundamentals, and we have never even come close to having such a good QB coach as he is. I hope he stays forever, and if he never beats Nederland again, it won't diminish him even a little bit in my mind. PNG fans are amazing, but we whine too much.

I should not post on this matter but I have no filter sometimes so here goes me being stupid:
Here is a fact: Coaches cannot play every kid. They just can't. It doesn't mean they don't like the kids not played and that there is a specific reason for it. There can only be 22 guys on the field during every play. At any given point I'd say close to 16-18 of those never leave the field and are established starters. So that leaves only a few spots that rotate. Now when injuries occur, coaches have to make a difficult decision of who to plug into that spot and all the while considering a number of reasons as to why that person is next in line.
Always remember, coaches are employees to an employer. Coaches not only want to win, their families need them to win. Can't win, they are looking for a job. And do some of you realize the pressure put on these men and women? Think about it. Some of you wanted to send BF packing for losing one game in particular each year for six years. It didn't matter the Indians have only missed the playoffs once in his tenure, it was that one loss.
So in general, don't blame a coach for making personnel decisions they make to put their TEAM in a position they feel gives them the best chance to win.
Like people have said, if you have a question then do yourself a favor so you can get the answers you seek, ask. But do it like an adult and respect the answer you get whether good or bad. Coaches are humans like the rest of us. They make decisions at their job and sometimes those decisions don't work. They either learn from it or don't. Just like the rest of us.
Sorry so long, I can't sleep and it's 145 ha
