  1. newton  played terrible with all the turn overs against silsbee.  they  will come out ready to play this week.   newton will roll by at least  21 points . they want take orangefield for granite like they did silsbee

I know that the Eagles turned the ball over more than their fans would like, but Silsbee caused at least a few of them with a hard hitting, ball stipping defense; as for the Eagles taking the Tigers for granted, I don't think so, they ran into a good 3A teams A-Game. Silsbee is Team that, like the Eagles, improves with every game and can test everyone they play.
  2. Saw the replay on TV.  Great game by both teams.  I couldn't believe how far that kicker kicked that ball, barely missing.  Nice to know you have a kicker like that in tight games. I bet he makes it next time

I saw him kick several between 45 and 50 yards in warm-ups, in the middle of the Up-rights; I was sick. 47 yards is where the ball was spotted on the Hold and 5 Inches too far to the left. This Young Man should keep in mind is that Not Many Other Kickers Could Have Ever Reached the Goal Post, Let Alone Hit It 10 ft. Above The Crossbar. Best Try I've Seen In a Long, Long Time.
  3. My hats off to both the teams. The Tigers came to the game tonight with Winning on their minds, and almost did. I've looked at the stuff posted about Silsbee games so far, and all the positive things said about the Tigers Showed Up at the Stadium Tonight. The Tigers Never Stopped Trying, Never Looked Down and Tested Newton Big Time.        The Eagles were forced to dig deep to take the lead back from the Tigers, and then just inches on a kick, decided the outcome of a Great Match-up between two talented teams. Congrats to The Eagles for the tough Win, and Congrats to The Tigers for making them earn it.( in case anyone wonders, The Tigers Absolutely Do Have an A-Game. Solid "D", Passing Game and a Kicker with a Fifty Yard Leg )  I Hope the Players that both teams had injured are not hurt badly, and are back in the lineups A.S.A.P. Good Luck to the Tigers on the Rest of Your Season. Go Eagles............. Eagles Rule.

    True class, Newtonjb. Good post.

The Truth Is Truth, Maybe not the Best Game I've ever seen, but surely in the Top 10, The Hearts Came Out for Both Squads. This Game Is One Of My New Instant Classics.

  5. Don't forget Silsbee D allowed 49 when they played Diboll, Newton shut diboll down, the score could have been alot worse if it would"t been for

barby softing the blow a little by putting the second team O in midway through the third qrt. It only took newton 9 total plays to score 4 tds in the 3rd to run away with the game. (the true sportsmanship of the game was barby putting in the second team in the 3rd)

The Man's Name Is Spelled Barbay, ( Coach Barbay ). I think that the least You can do, when a Coach has accomplished as much as he has, for as long as he has, is to spell his name correctly.
  6. Jasper will be ready to go, but WOS at home has an advantage. WOS Wins, their 2nd tough contest in 2 weeks, by 7.

the game is at Jasper , so Jasper will have the home advantage, wanna revise your prediction based on that  ;)

My bad, I miss read my schedule on the game location, but I still think WOS will Win by 7. Whoever wins will have to earn it.
  7. first half for EC was good.. they were able to move the ball pretty well.

I agree. Newton was just a few yards and a few seconds away from going into halftime losing to EC. EC moved the ball real well during the 1st half. I had to wonder if the Eagles got a Barbay "pep talk" at the half.

I don't think Coach V is random with the game plan and game decisions. Just because something is not fully understood from the stands doesn't mean its unthoughtout or wrong. I think he did things the way he did for a reason, so lets give the benefit of the doubt. Overall in this very early point of the season, the Bucs look like they are doing OK.

I don't know, but moving the ball across the goal line is how you score, and EC failed to do that after the 1st Quarter. Not changing what is not working for you, isn't the way to go, if you want to have a chance to improve. I would bet money on who was not calling the plays, especially on those delay of game punt plays. The EC players looked to be trying to do what they were asked , and that is all they can do. I saw some Talent, I saw some Effort, I saw some Heart and I saw some Confusion.
  8. newton lookes rusty to me . whats up with  EC play calling ?

I mean that the Bucs did the same things in the second half they did in the first. The Eagles adapted at half time to meet the Bucs game plan. The Bucs didn't appear to have changed up anything, even when they saw it wasn't working ( not good play calling or poor execution, you decide ) either way it looked like the Bucs weren't prepared for what they saw. And what was with the 3 delay penalties on the punts? And as for the Eagles being rusty, you're right, but that didn't seem to hold them back last night.
  9. first half for EC was good.. they were able to move the ball pretty well.  2nd half was another story.. I would have to say EC was out coached.  I don't know what EC was thinking taking penalty after penalty when they had to punt.  It cost them 5 yards a pop when they were struggling to contain Newton. I could possibly understand it if it was late in the game but in the 3rd quarter.. it was embarrassing.  When the coaches pulled that stunt the players basically said OK.. the plan is to run the clock out and we aren't going to try and score.. They were only down 18- 7 at that point.  Not taking anything away from Newton.  They were well coached and made adjustments as necessary.  I'm just not pleased with the EC drive to win in the second half.. Oh well... this is JMO....

The game tonight was the 5th meeting between the Eagles and the Buccaneers, since 2004 and to tell the truth, tonight I was confused by some of the E.C. play calling and time management. E.C. players (only some, absolutely not near all ) just went through the motions. They looked unprepared.
