Not taking away anything from this great WOS D you guys keep talking about but let's not forget they shut out a young LCM team trying to find it's offensive identity with two quarterbacks with no varsity experience and a few receivers having to step up due to losing a ton of seniors from last year. good job, but at the same time, what'd you expect? i wonder what the game would have been like later in the year when LCM finally gets going.
LCM has beatin Wos 2 times in all the history of these two teams playing. Did you really ask the question what the results would be like later in the year? Yes, LCM might be a little better later in the year, but so will Wos. Wos have nobody with varsity experience on the offensive line and was still able to dominate.
biaplayer, that's what I was thinking, this district race will be interesting. I think Vidor and Nederland will still be at the top, but Ozen, Central, PNG and Livingston will battle for 2 spots. I'm also shocked that LCM only lost 18-0 at WOS, they could hurt someones playoff chances. Also, I wouldn't count on finding a running game next week, WOS' s defense is all about attacking, next week at the rez will be very interesting, I'm thinking about skipping the Ned-GCM game and going to watch PNG-WOS.
Trust me the game wasn't as close as the score. Wos shot themselves in the foot numerous times with costly penalties in the redzone and wide opened touchdown passes dropped. This score should have been atleast 40-0. First game this happens though. LCm has to figure out their QB situation. They tried two or three last night. The second QB #17 actually looked the best, they might want to give him the start next week. -

Having Beasley back at right tackle is huge! Like you, I was also surprised at how well the O-Line blocked. Very good sign.
No doubt. We'll get another boost when #35 is ready to return.
#35 was out there and dressed out. I guess they are still trying to punish him cause he just stood there most of the night holding his helmet waiting to go in. He is the best running back we have and a great defensive player. He paid his dues...now put him in the game.

I was just about to post that the results someone posted was old. Josh Gloston graduated last year, so he definately wasn't on Wo-s relay. Trey coasted to a 10.28 100 meter time. the Wo-s 4x100 relay ran a 41.68 relay.

WO-S District Champions - 7th & 8th grade
tam0003 replied to Homer's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
It's funny to hear HJ making comments about beating Wo-s in football. You can't come close to beating Wo-s. We hear those we can beat WO-s comments every year from you guys and how many times have you beaten us. O? that's what I thought. You guys make yourselves look quite stupid with comments like we would wax that ***. LOL What makes you think you can do something that no other team could come close to doing? My nephew plays on that Wo-s team and they made a goal to go undefeated and unscored on and they reached that goal. HJ or nobody else was going to get in the way of that, but if you want to think you can beat them to make you feel better, then so be it. They will proudly hold up their championship trophy. Maybe I can get him to allow you guys to borrow it one night to sleep with it so you'll see what it feels like. As long as WO-s is in your district, you will never know the feeling. -
Well, I named the person yesterday, not thinking and I apologize for that because they are a minor. I think all people involved shouldn't be suspended for the year. They are kids and they made mistakes and we shouldn't totally discourage them. They deserve a second chance. I know that the player is a very good person and I don't think that his whole career should be jeapardized. I don't know the other two personally, but I feel the same for them. I don't think a player should get a lighter punishment than someone not playing sports though. Whatever the punishment is, it should be equal across the board. I think that is why it has gotten to the controversy that it has because the punishment was harsh for one person and initially there was no punishment for the player and the equal punishment had to be forced by one of the parents. I think they should give these kids another chance. This also should be used as a teaching moment to say to students, what might seem fun can end up hurting alot of people including yourself, so think before you do things.

*WO-S vs. Brookshire Royal/WOS wins 49-6/Comments
tam0003 replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
A great change that I saw was that we did alot of no huddle tonight, which I think kept the Brookshire defense off balanced. Trey had an excellent game and I agree that our kicking game looked better than I've seen it this year. I never doubted the talent of this team. My only concern was all the false start penalties which were drive killers for us...especially against Jasper. We got away with it with other teams because they wasn't quite as good as Jasper, but when we don't make stupid penalties, we score at will. -

That was actually Trey's dad Kerry Franks senior handing off the turkey leg to him. His older brother Kerry did play for A&m, but that wasn't him in the picture. -

Franks named Leader's Male Athlete of the Year Van Wade The Orange Leader WEST ORANGE — It was a whirlwind junior year at West Orange-Stark to say the least for a young man named Trey Franks. It all started on the gridiron way back in August of 2008 as Franks was a key cog in the Mustangs’ run to a fifth straight district title. Very seldom did Franks, the son of Natasha and Kerry Franks, Sr., not see the field for the Mustangs, who advanced all the way to the Class 3A Region III semifinals. On offense, he was the squad’s leading receiver, hauling in 34 receptions for 605 yards and five touchdowns. On defense, he picked off five passes from his secondary spot and on special teams he brought three punts back for three more TDs. In the spring, he hit the track and hit it fast. Leading Southeast Texas throughout the season in the 100 meters, Franks capped off an amazing year by picking up three medals at the 3A State Track Meet. He earned a gold as part of the 400-meter relay team and a silver for the 800-meter relay team and gained more recognition by becoming 3A’s “Fastest Man†by winning the 100 meters in 10.36 seconds. His effort helped enable the Mustangs to capture the overall state title. For his efforts, Franks has been named The Orange Leader’s Athlete of the Year. “It has been a great year,†said Franks. “It seems like everything happened so fast. The last week or so I’ve been able to relax and look back on what we accomplished as a team, both in football and track. Hopefully, we can do it all over again next year.†Right now, Franks is getting back into the football groove, participating in 7-on-7 after the long track haul, getting himself back in football shape. “Football is right around the corner and we have a lot to prove, especially after being ranked No. 3 in the state by Texas Football,†said Franks. “We’ve got a lot of work ahead of us but that’s what being a Mustang is all about.†Franks has that ultimate football goal floating around in his head. “We want to win it all and with our work ethic, that goal is achievable,†said Franks. “The top priority will be trying to win the district. Since we dropped down to 3A, we’ve always won district and there is that win streak (29 games) in district that we want to keep.†Like so many Mustangs before him, Franks has no problem taking the field for WO-S and taking very few breaks. “I love the game and if I could be out there for four full quarters, it wouldn’t bother me a bit,†said Franks. “Here, you do anything you can to help your teammates and be a part of the Mustang family. Coach Hooks, he’s a great motivator. Then you have Coach (Cornel) Thompson working us out so hard in the offseason program. The whole coaching staff is great.†Of course, Franks, along with Mustang teammate James Haynes, is getting plenty of looks from NCAA Division I colleges, including Oklahoma, Baylor and Texas A&M as he heads into his senior year. “I’ve had a chance to attend several college football camps and a lot of schools have expressed interest,†said Franks. “It’s something I think about but my main goal is to stay focused and prepare for the upcoming football season. We have a lot of goals we want to achieve and that’s top priority.†Franks has a superb background to keep his priorities and focus straight ahead. His father Kerry, starred at WO-S and was the Football Player of the Year of the Leader’s in 1980. Kerry went on to play well at Oklahoma State. His brother Kerry Jr. was a Mustang standout earlier this decade and just recently completed a superb run at Texas A&M where he is just about closing out his degree. Brother Jacoby, who was an excellent receiver for the Mustangs just a couple short years ago, is entering his third season at Texas Tech. “Football and sports is just in my blood,†said Franks. “My Dad was such a great athlete and he achieved great things. I guess you can say we were all born to be Mustangs. To have two great brothers to help you grow up and mature has been a great thing too. Each one of them helped me stay on the right path and I’m grateful for that. They’ve all been through the same things I’m going through right now as far as the recruiting process and that’s been a blessing.†Perhaps the one that holds it all together is mother Natasha. “What more can you say about her, she’s our rock,†said Franks. “She’s there for all of us 100 percent of the time. As far back as I can remember, she was dragging all of us all over the place, from practice to practice and camp to camp. She’s qadded so much balance to our lives. She loves sports and she gets right in their and mixes it up with us when we talk about and watch football. The biggest thing about her is the way she stresses academics and making your grades. She keeps us all balanced and I love her for that.†It’s not far-fetched for Franks to hit the track at the college level eventually too. Franks is still soaking in the accomplishment of the Mustang track unit this year. “At the beginning of the track season, we thought we had a chance to win the state title,†said Franks. “Coach (Toby) Foreman kept liking what he saw and kept liking it and kept pushing us to be the best we could be. After the district meet, he talked to all of us and pumped us up saying that we could do it. At that point, we weren’t just thinking it, we went out and accomplished it.†Franks, Haynes, along with Josh Gloston, and Phillip Jones ran a school-record time of 41.31 to win the 400-meter relay and then Franks, along with Haynes, Gloston and Ed Ivory placed second in the 800-relay with a 1:27.02. “In the 400-meter relay, we knew we were faster than everybody,†said Franks. “We knew the key was getting the stick around. We had problems with that earlier in the season but we executed perfect at state. That was the first race of the day and all, so I was so nervous. It was so hot, plus I was sweating nerves.†The 400-meter relay win smoothed Franks’ nerves as he prepared for the 100 meters. “In the 100, I just went out there and ran my race,†said Franks. “All the jitters from the relay were gone and I just went out and ran as hard as I could.†Now Franks has turned his eyes toward having an excellent senior campaign. “It’s my senior year and people say that’s the best time of your life,†said Franks. “It’s a chance to spend a lot of quality time with friends you grew up around before you move on in the world. There are plenty of goals to be reached. We want to bring home a football state title like we did in track this year. It would also be great if we could repeat as state champs in track. That would be a great way to finish.†[Hidden Content]

LOL. I guess nothing right. I'd do it for free. I love my Mustangs and I love to talk about them.

If the new playcaller will mix things up with all that talent and speed then watch out! Yeah, that's key. We have to keep teams off balance. I think there have been some years in the playoffs where we have given the ball to the same person over and over again. That makes it easy for teams to defend when they know they only have to game plan to stop one person. We have to do a better job of getting everybody involved.
-
Dang, tam! I should just let you write the WO-S preview. LOL. how much you paying? LOL
-
Yes, Quinny graduated. That's who I was talking about. Darius Robinson, Britton Lindsey will more than make up for his lost. Deon Beasley's little brother, Ernest can also play RB and is a great defender. Lovanstie Mouton is a good catching running back, along with Mark Mitchell who has alot of size and speed. I am not at all worried about Wo-s at RB. Teams won't be able to just focus on one RB. They will have to worry about several, who probably have more speed than Quinny. Along with the speed they will have to deal with on the outside with the receivers. I think Wo-s biggest problem will be finding enough balls to go around.

Yeah, Reggie Garrett is about 6'2 and very fast. From what I was told, he could have been on the 4x100 relay team this year. He probably will next year. I've watched him play since he was a freshman and I have been extremely impressed with him. He plays with alot of poise for a young guy, he has a rocket for an arm and will run for touchdowns as well. Wo-s will not be hurting at the QB position. If the OL is just decent, I see them going to state because there is just so much talent around them. There were players on JV that should have been on Varsity.
-
With the weapons they have at receiver, there will be lots of passing and running. People are making the mistake of thinking Wo-s won't be able to run I think because garrett isn't there, but trust me, they won't suffer at all at the runningback position.

Where is this being held at? I would like to see this.

they'll find someone to run the ball... that never seems to be a problem. britton linsey(sp?)... what grade will he be in? Britton Lindsey will be a Sophomore next year. He will be on varsity and a great back. Darius Robinson will be a great back too. Wo-s will not be hurting at the runningback position. They also have a QB that can run just as well as he throws too. Teams will have a problem with defending them. They will have really good runningbacks, an excellent QB and three D1 receivers.
