  1. Most miserable:  As a freshman living in Mexia back in '78, I played in a game against the Groesbeck GOATS (ha!) where it was freezing rain the entire game.  My facemask literally had icicles on it.  Taped up my earholes from the wind and had to use two hands to snap the ball cause I lost feeling in them.  Oh man did it hurt to hit or be hit.

  2. My daughter suffered greatly with it in 8th grade basketball and track.  We tried pretty much everything our research found, but it finally faded away this past summer.  There ARE some vitamin supplements that MAY have helped.  She saw some relief about 30 days after beginning a daily regimen of them.  She also took "Oscon" we ordered over the internet.  I'm not sure whether these actually helped are she finally just grew out of.

Agree that rest really didn't seem to help.  Just had the ice pack ready after every game and workout.  Not sure if the O-S knee bands helped relieve pain...at least occording to her.  Good luck...its miserable while it lasts.

  3. GT Shockers 14U went 4-1, losing only to the Texas Travellers.  Posted wins against Texas Extreme Gold, Texas Ringors, MC Elite NORTH and Texas Ice.  Really proud of the play against these older teams!

Were you guys playing 14U or up?

Up.  There were no age groups (college showcase, so basically an 18U round robin), but almost all teams were 16U to 18U Gold.  I didn't see any other true 14U teams on the team list, but there may have been a couple there.

  5. Saw this on another board and thought my fellow FP fans would find it interesting!:

I'll say a 2.7 sec 14U (or any age) softball player would be easy to spot, they'd be as fast as Usain Bolt. Go to this site for the 10 meter splits of his world record olympic performance:

This is the hidden content, please

If you convert meters to feet and do the math, his time for the 1st 60 feet of the race was 2.70 seconds.

He covered the 1st 32.8 feet (10 meters) in 1.85 seconds.

He covered the next 27.2 feet in .85 seconds*

His total time for the 1st 60 feet of the race = 2.70 seconds.

*Using his average speed for the second 10 meters of 32.16 feet per second

Any girl who can run a 2.65 from home to first is wasting her time playing softball. There's big money in professional track & field.

Of course determining speed H-1st has a LOT to do with timing method...starting on movement, saying "go" etc.

  6. I'll tell you exactly what will happen.  We will go into the spread offense and before Carmona drops back 3 steps he will have two purple uniforms laying on him.  It will be another mass attack on the QB, such as BH saw against Kirbyville and we never adjust to it.  Assuming he does try to run or throw the ball, the team speed Dayton has will not allow any of it to happen.  Dayton 40+ BH 7.

Oh yeah, Dayton's coaching is MUCH better.  There you go HillGuy, just for you.

Hey leave Mrs. Price alone ....ahhhh.. I'm mean HillGuy ;D We better get the ball in the air some more against Dayton their Run D will be to strong to throw that week stuff at em!!!! I Hope Bradford gets some more touches as well, he is going to be quite a talent for BH down the road!!!

You two crack me up.  What EXACTLY would you guys do if you had the reins?  You complain constantly about the coaching, but NEVER admit that we don't have the athletes this year to compete, nor do you offer anything more than "throw the ball more" or "this offense sucks" or "the coaches need to adjust".  Give some specifics.  I am an alumni and a former player, and one of our biggest fans, but I also understand that sometimes you just don't have the horsepower to get it done.  An off year doesn't mean you throw out the playbook that has been successful (and, oh yeah, the offense that the majority of successful programs run).

There are some things I don't like about our program:  I think we should work harder on tackling/hitting in practice and I wonder whether the coaches get our "intensity" level up high enough before a game.  I also believe that if we truly want to make a run at the playoffs, we need to have 3 or 4 players going both ways.

Being an AD is not a popularity contest, its about producing winning programs, which Price has done consistently.  It does not bother me in the least that we have not gone beyond the third round, in fact I'm pretty impressed we made it that far with the talent we have had.

Honestly I don't really care what you guys post...its a free country, at least until the next election  ;)  But cringe to think that those reading this forum think that your opinions are those of the majority of "Eagle Nation" which they are NOT.

  7. Well it was an entertaining game to watch (for BH fans).  GCM has got some athletes and will be much better next year.  Think they have a real shot at getting their first win against Kingwood Park.  It was obvious from the GCM players body language they were frustrated.  I felt bad for them but you got to give them lots of credit for for the effort they have put out this year.

Funny, I haven't heard any coach-bashing in the last couple of weeks, guess that will start back up soon. ;)  Maybe we should switch to the the winged-tee or the wishbone offense balance of the year, this new-fangled spread offense just doesn't work   ;D

  8. I have resisted posting on this but I guess I might as well join in.  As a former Eagle player (ok, 20+ yrs ago) and a huge fan, here is how I see it:

    1.  We ain't used to losin' and its easy to lose perspective...losing sucks, especially when you are used to winning.

    2.  The offensive "scheme" is proven and it works, but we don't have the number of exceptional athletes as we have had in past to be successful.

    3.  The team is young and it will be better next year, if your kid is a senior, that is not fun to hear

    4.  We have no "impact" players...no Earl Thomas, no Jacoby Franks, no Mosely, no Jamal Charles.  And none on the horizon...get over it.

    5.  The kids play their heart out, the coaches keep pushing what has been successful (and what will be sucessful again), and we will have a mediocre year at best.

In the last game, we gave up 41 pts.  Changing the offense, putting in trick plays, etc., might be entertaining, but it isn't going change the fact that we don't have the speed, strength or depth needed to defend against a solid offense.  If we played 4 or 5 kids both ways, it MIGHT improve our chances the balance of the the year.

Year after year, Price has squeezed every last drop of athletecism out of what he was dealt and had success.  The fact is that we just haven't got the horses to to pull the wagon this year.

    Eagle fan forever...RAIN or shine
