1. I'm not hating at all, I'm just speaking how I feel. Silsbee will win round 2 because we have seen that HJ cant play with more athletic teams. I didnt say WOS because I have not seen them play this season. And Silsbee is more prepared for tight game situations because majority of HJ's 20+ wins have been blowouts and not close wins. So from this season,( not a past season), if the Silsbee game happens to be close throughout the contest, I'm going with the more physical and deeper team, whih happens to be Silsbee.

When u belittle the schedule u r effectively belittling the approach to the game(s) of the coach.  He quite simply knows more about what schedule best suits his team than u do
Nothing to be ashamed of Nash, major D-1's do it all the time. A win is a win.
I dont associate shame with 6 consecutive regional appearances, two appearances in Austin and a state title since 2007.  Looks to me like his methods are pretty effective.  Using the playoffs as a measuring stick of success implies that the schedule is acceptable and opponents in the playoffs, as you well know, are not chosen.
Here we go with past stats. We are talking about now not past years
No we are talking about the approach to the game of a specific team/coach and the part you are criticizing is virtually identical to what it has been for the last 6 years.  So, yes, past results DO MATTER .  We could have had this identical conversation last year or the year before or the year before that and all would be the same.  If you have a kid shooting 40% from behind the three point line but find his technique to be what you consider abnormal, are you going to change his shot because past results dont matter?  Rest 100% assured that when the 49ers and Falcons line up this weekend as well as the Patriots and Ravens NOTHING (nada-zilch) will be executed that isnt based upon some success of same in the past
Okay Nash your right Nash. It's just funny how both of the more physical teams in the district has beaten HJ. I see Silsbee winning round 2. But hey it don't matter HJ will win 30 games this year. Typical fan

When u belittle the schedule u r effectively belittling the approach to the game(s) of the coach.  He quite simply knows more about what schedule best suits his team than u do
Ok Nash your right. HJ has the perfect solution. All I know is that Silsbee was ready to play some basketball from the beginning of the game while HJ was playing like they never saw competition like Silsbee this season. A little star struck even. Better luck next time.
 5.

Last year speaks volumes.  Mr Sutherland has an EXTREMELY distinguished coaching resume at several different schools and until one has similar credentials, one looks a little foolish suggesting they know better methods than he does.
Nash, you know Freeze1914 is correct.  Nash, repeat after me several times, "HJ's program is not perfect."  :D
Ok Dove- as per your instructions " HJ's program is not perfect"  Now please reciprocate by repeating after me;  " If a team is competitive and successful on a yearly basis, you cant "talk" that success away"  And I am still one who believes Mr. Sutherland has more high school coaching knowledge/experience than Freeze and Da Dove combined.
Nobody said nothing about his coaching experience. All we said was Silsbee was better prepared for a game like this because they played better competition early on while HJ is so use to blowing teams out their sense of urgency is not where it should have been. Then in the 4th quarter they realized it was time to play. That has nothing to do with coaching experience or knowledge.
 6.

Why does HJ choose not to play a harder schedule? They play some local 4A and a ton of 2A schools. No school they have played so far this year besides Central and Longview could stay in the gym with Silsbee. Not even Kountze!
Maybe: to: 1. Pad your stats----- get State rankings 2. Pad your stats-- to get S.E.Texas rankings 3. Pad your stats---  ::) ::)
Exactly.
 7. Dove I believe the same thing. Tougher teams and closer games will get you ready for tough situations. When you blowing people out all season and then you find yourself in a close game, you dont know to adjust because you have never been in  that situation before. Just my opinion....
 8. I have said it once ( and got hammered by HJ fans and probably will gt hammered again) but you cant run that press against every team, especially a very athletic team like Silsbee. Silsbee destroyed that press majority of the game. until HJ get physical with these athletic teams they will play, its nothing Coach Sutherland will be able to do from the sideline. They got out powered for 3 quarters.
 9.
How many players in this area have D1 potential and who are they? I say 1. Colton Weisbrod 2. Zjori Bosha 3. Devante Johnson 4. Jordan Hunter 5. Jared Hunter 6. Wilridge from Central 7. Pearson from Central 8. Mike Zeno 9. Hadnot from brook 10. Paige from WOS 11. Chril Elam 13. Jordan Holmes 14 Dorian Chatman Let me know what yaul think.
All these guys have great potential, but like Nash brought to my attention to me in another post we were talking on, SIZE will play a big factor in some of these kids playing d1 ball and Dove hit it right on the head with academics.
Most impressive blow out was against Big Ned. Funny how Ozen is copying HJ's 1-2-1-1 press.
Ozen was running that press with Boutte. I guess Saveat just brought it back
 11. OMG!!! that dont even look real. did you see how high he got. then the replay on the screen just killed all his little confidence...lol
 12.
no way to know that until playoff time.  what a team is doing now doesnt matter nearly as much as it does two months from now.  Obviously, Yates has to be the favorite to advance from this region.  I can tell you, however, that if HJ had played in the Gamble tourney, they would still be the exact same team they are now
I dont know about that, but I'm not talking from who they played stand point. I'm asking do they have the personnel to make it to Austin?
 13.
At the end of the day who you play does not matter. It's how you play that matters and I believe that hj's playoff record speaks for itself.
But everybody don't have the teams HJ has had and need a certain level of competition to get them ready for a tough district.
 14. At the end of the day strength of schedule does matter. No matter what team it is.
 15.
from the 2006-2007 season through the end of last year- not that hard to figure since each loss occurred either in HUNTSVILLE or AUSTIN [/quot I'm asking, just asking do yall think this HJ team is good enough to go to Austin?
 16.
i too am having fun.  Particularly wth the guy who said to call him when HJ won a state championship, which they have already done with their weak schedule.  Just cant understand why you wont acknowledge the 23-5 playoff record which is the best in the area.  You can't/wontacknowlege it because it documents the fact that the HJ staff knows so very much more about how to hande their team than you do.  It is a fact- deal with it-  Most NBA players lift weights but LeBron does Yoga instead.  Are you gonna tell me he would be better if he lifted weights?
.  I know about the record but in talking about this years team. This years team can't compete with none of the HJ teams of the past. With that being said why not get them ready by playing tougher competition.
 17.
I think this whole tread got blown outta proportion...there is no need for anyone to get in their feelings...AGAIN BOTH OF YOU GUYS ARE ABSOLUTELY CORRECT
I know Flight. I'm having fun with this. But my point is this. He just said HJ had played the same schedule for years. Well as we have saw,HJ team as not as strong as they normally are. So if my team us weaker, why not play better competition to get them prepared for stronger teams down the road. That's what I'm asking. And Nash let me know when coach k shows up at HJ with the 23-5 playoff record
Yates?  According to you, HJ may not make the playoffs with weak schedule and Prudhomme gone and if they do, they will certainly lose before  getting to Yates.  Answer my question about Centrals schedule please.  Why arent they playing in a 5-a tourney in Houston or Dallas to get ready for playoffs?

Central has played in the two best tournaments in the area. Gamble and ymbl. Of course HJ go make the playoffs. Even though they might end up dplitting district with WOS. HJ was in a 2a tournament. Come on now
Central has not went out of the BMT area to play anybody its all been with in 5 miles off there school. They could have play in the Pasadena tour. where the big boys play.
But the tournaments they been in has had very high rated teams. If you go play in local tournaments, why not play in the best ones to give your team a challenge.
apparently thats different.  HJ playing East Chambers is not acceptable but Central playing Lumberton before district is good playoff preparation.  Every school has difficult and easy games but to hear some on this board, they would have you believe that this only happens at HJ and that HJ somehow selects their opponents and brackets in the tournaments they enter.  All that matters is playoff performance and Freeze has yet to tell me why 23-5 in playoffs is not better than anyone else around here has done in recent years
Because they have had great teams. Now what do they do when the team is not as strong as recent years, play the same competition? You won't get the same results

They still will only have 15 players on the roster. Level of talent is the factor. They bear Longview by 17 but lost to central by almost 30. Not EC or a jv
if twice as many students "dont mean nothing" then why isnt the game played with a single classification?  it means a lot and you know it means a lot  mental giantry is not required to figure out that choosing your roster from 1000 students will generally produce better players than making the same choice from 500 students.  While playing the Ozen JV may not get HJ ready for the playoffs, playing Lumberton will not get Central  ready for the playoffs
To so say give smallers schools a chance. Thank you TopFlight. That's what I have been saying to the police chief but you know HJ fans knows better than everybody
