Hey, they already have the "Butch" for football, they can just add a gymnasium. That's how they have it in Fort Bend County. I live in Fort Bend County.  There are two athletic complexes for the 10 teams to play their games including a football field and a gymnasium, and the newest one also includes a natorium (sp?). I don't know why they didn't build a gymnasium at the Butch.  Central's gym is definitely too small.  West Brook and Ozen's gyms are ok. But, when you have the boys and girls teams playing each other, even Ozen's gym gets crowded. Especially last year with both girls teams being ranked in the top 10 and this year with Ozen's girls being Ranked #1.  Either way, Ozen vs Central will always have a packed house, and when either team plays West Brook. Also, HJ, Silsbee, Kountze, and some of the other teams are normally ranked and if not, just because of the rivalry, the fans will come out to see the game. That's a good idea Bluedove

Wow, I did not know that's who that was pitching. My daughter and I started wactching the game at the Bottom of the 6. We thought that Erin was doing a great job and that they should have let her finish the game. The announcers said the samething, that Erin was doing a good job and should have been given the opportunity to closeout the game. Erin left the game in the Top of the 7th, leading 5-2, with 1 out and I think with runners on 1st and 2nd.  She left up by 3 runs and they lost by 3 runs. Good to see SE Texas represented on National TV.

Game over, Hurricanes defeat Texas Impact Gold 8 - 5. Imo, Impact Gold put it on cruise control and the Hurricanes took advantage of it. There were a couple of defensive plays that I thought Impact Gold could have made with just a little hustle, and they could have closed out the game in the Top of the 7th.

Well, line drive down 3rd base line scoring 2 runs. Hurricanes now lead 6-5 Fly ball to center drops. Hurricanes lead Tx Impact Gold 8-6. Batter thrown out at second. Bottom of the 7th.

Yeah, regarding Livingston, what would be a good idea is to for Livingston to replace Huntsville in 19-4A, since most of those schools are in the  59 corridor.  And move Huntsville to 17-4A, which is near Austin and only has 7 teams.  Well scratch that, and move Hunstville to 18-4A, and move Bryan Rudder to 17-4A. This seems to be the better fit to me.

Thanks WOSGrad. So, it's not just that they were assigned to DAEP, that prohibits them from participating in UIL sponsored events, but the reason must be in the code TX 37.006 "Students who are placed in a disciplinary alternative education program (DAEP) for a reason included in TEC §37.006 must be prohibited from attending or participating in a school-sponsored or school related activity" It's still not clear, because the next sentence also states that it can be enforced by district policy. Man, they have so many exceptions, and if this, then that, coaches almost need an on-staff attorney to understand some of this stuff.  The have enough to worry about with the players, parents, booster club, and the ISD.  LOL!!!!  ;D ;D ;D ;D

This does get interesting in the Crokett vs Newton case.

Thanks Bulldog81. The Top Half of the bracket seems to be loaded, especially with Kimball and SOC ranked #2 & #3 in the latest 4A poll.  Throw in North Shore and Westbrook from Class 5A, and it's tough. There will be a lot of good matchups to to and see.  Very good field of teams.

Just wondering, [/quote] WB1993, if I remember correctly, I think that it had something to do with the kids receiving T-shirts given by the booster club, or the something to that affect.  In my opinion, it was very petty.  I remember thinking that they robbed those kids.  I think that receiving the t-shirts the way that they received them, for free, was looked upon as recruiting.  It was not anything intentional, from what I remember.  There are so many rules, it's almost impossible to do anything for kids. However, if it's grades and that kid played in the game, it could cost them because the UIL frowns big time on using ineligible players. 

I did not know that LaMarque runs the spread offense. If so, that could be a problem for Ozen since LM will match athleticism and speed with Ozen, if not a little more than Ozen.  Ozen's defense has carried them in the playoffs, and I think that they have a little more difficulty defending teams that run the spread offense.  However, I wasn't at the game, but didn't Brenham run the spread offense?  And Ozen contained them, but, in my opinion, I think that LaMarque has more overall team speed on offense and defense, than Brenham. It should be a good game.  Hate to miss it, but I will be in New Orleans at the Bayou Classic.

Yes, Chatman is ranked high in his class, and he is about 6'5" and is listed as a small forward. He played in the Freshman Top 20 All-American game for his class (2015) in July 2011. I don't know why he isn't playing varsity.  Is he good enough to get playing time? I heard that there are several football players on the basketball team, including the huge offensive lineman Trevan Armstead, who is listed at 6'7".
