  1. Players should be ejected for certain cheap shots.

It should be for things like hitting a player way out of bounds.

Or after the play is over and the whistle has been blown.

And of course, for fighting (if they can get it right).

But the problem is............ sometimes personal fouls are not cheap shots and you may have an official that would abuse his power.

Heres the difference.....Say, a RB is hit out of bounds but its very close to the sideline and the defender draws a flag.

Or.....the punt returner calls for a fair catch at the last second and the cover guy takes him out..........here comes the yellow flag because thats the way the Ref saw it.

I could go on, but let me finish by saying the helmet to helmet thing has too much gray area.

If its an attempt to take out the QB or another player.... then throw the flag, but if its just a guy trying to make a play and helmets collide.... I would call that incidental contact.

  2. Yes, the most awesome thing happened in Vidor at last Fridays football game. We started the game with a PRAYER of thanks and Praise to GOD !  The Prayer, given by a Vidor student was received with a huge applause from the visiting Bears.

I tip my hat to Vidor high school and hope that others will soon follow.

    The words of Abraham Lincoln:

"Our fathers established these great self-evident truths that...their posterity might look up again to the Declaration of Independence and take courage to renew the battle which their FATHERS began, so that truth...and Christian virtues might not be extinguished from the land...Now my countrymen, if you 'have been taught doctrines' conflicting with the great landmarks of the Declaration of Independence... let me entreat you to come back...come back to the truths that are in the Declaration of Independece."

  3. I will assume you are not talking about Brooks.  Jasper may be down this year and maybe next year but Brooks will have Jasper in top form within three years.  Lauve lost several quality coaches since he took over.

Yes,  Thomas Brooks has a Championship ring from his HS days at BMT Hebert. He has a couple of rings from his days at WOS and another ring or two from his years in Waxahachie.

He knows what it takes to win and will get the Dogs back on track.

  4. I am a parent, and I am not a big fan of parents watching every practice. We give our kids to these coaches with trust and hope that they will work them as hard as possible every day and play to win on Friday night.

Life is not fair and sometimes we don't get our way. It's tough to watch your kid sitting the bench when you believe with all your heart that he or she should be a starter.  We must however, accept the outcome and move on in a positive direction for the better part...................THE TEAM !

I do believe that Coaches sometimes get it wrong and play the wrong kid for maybe even the wrong reason, but we must accept it and move on.

    I vote for CLOSED PRACTICES.

A Coach could have certain dates where parents are invited to watch practice but it should be up to the Coach.

Parents don't have any business watching and bragging to their buddies about what their team is working on anyway. Let them see it on Friday night !

  5. Father, we come to you in the name of Jesus, thanking you for our many blessings. We are thankful to live in a free country where we can enjoy highschool football, and all it brings to our communities and relationships. Father we ask your blessings over all of those traveling to and from the games this season, and pray your protection over the players as they do battle with their teams for victory. We pray that you are glorified in the lives of the students, parents, and fans as we move into this season filled with hope and excitement.

Thank you again for who you are and all you've done for us. We trust your divine will and will give you the glory always.

    In Jesus Name, Amen

    Well said !

Let us pray also, that PRAYER be put back in our Public schools.

  6. I have notice over last two or three years that many on this board crank on Lumberton. Why? Kids play hard and are excited about their team only to have shots taken at them. Don't understand  and if the kids are playing hard how can you get on here and blast them? Can you help me and tell me why? These are kids  and if I were on one from Lumberton think I may take offense to so many slams.

ETBU is just trying to start off the season with a BANG and stir up some stuff !

He knows he can do it with a topic like this !

This ought to be a good one.

  7. I don't recall seeing him drop many passes. Could be confusing him with another player, he has great hands.

    Here are 2 examples:

    Texas City Game Catch

    TD Catch in LCM Game

    http://s144.photobucket.com/albums/r180/mabethea/Video/?action=view&current=a88ec806.flv

Not confused, I remember the one he caught but he dropped two more in the end zone and one across the middle that he would have scored on. But like I said, he's a keeper and he has my vote !

  8. A.J. Dugat - Dayton

Should stand out this year. He stood out last year as a sophmore.

Yea, this kid has plenty of speed and tons of skills. I did see him drop 3 tds against LCM and I think it was him that dropped a punt at the png 2 yd. line that was recovered by the indians.  He did however, make an outstanding TD catch in traffic against LCM. I know this kid is a keeper and will most likely get a shot at college ball.

Good nomination for stand out reciever !

  9. Well, he is pretty intense on the football field and he broke his wrist one day at a jr. high practice. He was mad at this kid named Greg Mullins and he smacked him on top of the helmet pretty hard and the next day he came to school with a wrist cast. DW repeated the same feat a few years later on another kid breaking his wrist again.
