All of the above teams have not played a game this week.  They took Tuesday off for state testing (which I thought was required of all public schools).

Only required for the day before testing by most school districts. I do not think there is anything not allowing it.

  2. I will give y'all some perspective. I am a coach and a teacher. During football season I work 7 days a week, 80 hr work week. During baseball season I work 6 days a week at about 65-70 hours a week. I work through most holidays due to coaching a sport that plays during that holiday time teachers have off. Summers I get 1 maybe 2 weeks off, other than that I am working camps that are unpaid to allow athletes to get better. The money made from the camps goes straight back to the athletic program for the kid's. I make 59,000 a year with 10 years exp. and work at a decent paying 5a school not in y'all's area. People say that teaching is an easy job but can't deal with their kid's for more than 30 minutes at a time. As a coach I spend more time with some kid's than their parents do. It is my job to shape that child and mold them into a good, productive citizen. I enjoy what I do, but man do I think about getting out of the profession because I have to deal with some parents and community members that are ignorant like some on this board. I make less per hour than someone that works at Hobby Lobby, and deal with some ingrates that say I should make even less. I usually like to read what you all say on here whether it be good, bad, or indifferent. So when you realize you work for a corporation that probably in some way receives federal funding i.e. tax dollars we can all start debating your pay and how easy your job is.

P.S. I also have a BBA is Business, came out of college and couldn't get a sales job because the market was terrible. I don't have a crap degree as some state.

  3. You said Kingwood and Katy area like they are major cities lol. No I am with you, the state needs fiduciary committees to look into how to be more efficient with money in public education as far as school size. If there are small school districts right next to each other and it is financially more feasible to combine they should. The only saving grace to small schools is the transportation costs would skyrocket if schools were to combine.

  4. I am a coach not in the SETX area I just keep up with it. We as coaches know when you win the players did great and when you lose coaches did a bad job...it is what it is.

I am going to defend the coach a little and say they prob had some scout info showing the ability to throw the ball in that situation, which you prob don't know about bc you did not put in 7 days working to beat that team. Also if Vidor is as run heavy as you say the play action pass and bootleg are designed for run heavy teams, it is not the coaches fault someone blew a blocking assignment. As hs coaches we make about $2 an hour and do what we do for the kids not for the glory. We love to win but never at the cost of our players.

Pete Carroll made the same call in the Super Bowl, is he a bad coach?

Last I am going to leave you with this 1. Does a coach come to your place of work and bad mouth and yell at you. 2. Does a coach go on a public forum and bad mouth you. 3. We have families don't you think you are impacting them with this crap as well.

The next time you want to bad mouth a coach I want you to go get a degree and be a teacher and coach so we can yell at you.

  5. Region 3 no matter what size school usually has good baseball. Tomball had Westfield, Klein Forest and Dekaney in their district which if they were in some other districts they would be ok and usually have a stud pitcher or 2 to throw at you. In this district there is tons of good pitchers prob the only advantage if you get to the playoffs you don't see much better. The district next year will not be near as competitive, really wished to be in y'alls distgrict for better competition.
  6. Not saying they will I said they have a shot and I obviously regarded to y'all as good by saying you would win a state title this yr without saying it. To dethrown would mean y'all are reigning champs. Stratford is a different story, inner city school playing weak baseball teams. As far as the teams you play Tomball plays them as well and is in probably the hardest 5A district in the state. I just wonder if Tomball will be in Region 3 or 2 in 4A bc they are in region 2 now. Oh fyi I played against you guys about 10 years ago in the playoffs, I know what they are capable of and seen them get stronger since then bc we beat y'all ;P lol and we were an avg team with a little luck on our side. I wish you guys the best of luck and would like no other 4A team besides y'all or a Magnolia team to win it all.
  7. Reed would have been better in a different type of defense for sure. Give him 2 yrs at UT and they will have him proving the nay sayers wrong. I believe in the d that they played this yr he would have served better at a tackle or ILB. They did not seem to run many blitzs or stunts on the line that would have def let him show his ability more than he did. I can't remember if football has a coach's all state team. Usually those are decent.
  8. All-State is a little overrated. Congrats to those who made it, just confuses me how some kids get on it and are not even the best at the position they play on their own team. Too many deserving kids to mention on a list, I believe a lot of the names are due to committments to play in college ball and some I don't know how it's possible to get honorable mention. I know I sound like I am bashing the kids but I have no kid in the hunt just watch a lot of area ball and the team I watch got a kid on here and he is the worst one on that side of the ball. Just makes me wonder how they even make these selections.
