  1. I know Central has about 165 out, 75 are Freshmen.
  2. Don't forget that WOS and Dayton have scrimmaged each other the last two seasons so they are not strangers to one another. The '04 scrimmage Dayton and Durat ran all over the Mustangs for two and a half quaters and won 26-21. Last year the 'Stangs played a little better defense and won 28-14. WOS looks to be better on defense this year, so if Dayton can't pass they will be in serious trouble. WOS 35 Dayton 14
  3. I know Coach Hooks would love to play Wimberly again. He found out too late that they had a week 3 open date or it wuld've been a regular season game this year. He REALLLYY wants another shot at those guys!! When coach Hooks found out it was too late to get out of the Bay City game. Something tells me he will get his shot at Wimberly again in th eplayoffs.
  4. I know this history, WOS has improved every year since Coach T and Foreman have been back and they have more talent coming back this year than they have had the previous two years. I look for it to be a typical WOS scrimage, struggle in the forst quarter then pure it on in the last 3 quarters.
  5. Last year, Jerrod "Sticks" Lewis a WR for WOS made probably the best "crack back" block I've ever seen against a DE from Nederland. I was also thinking about the Quinton Coryatt hit and also the Jack Tatum hit on Darrell Stingly.
  6. O.K. WOS wins 5 scores to 2.
  7. WOS will win the scrimage. BH got put out of the playoffs last year by a team WOS beat by 35 points. What questions on offense does WOS have? They are not gonna miss a beat on offense. The only question on defense will be the line. However after waching practice yesterday I have to say, they are a lot bigger on the line this year. The three guys I saw in the middle go between 240-260 lbs.. WOS 35-14.
  8. Concrats to Coach Hooks, he deserves it!! When someone mentions West Orange-Stark, the first person they think of is Dan Ray Hooks.
  9. I've only been in the area since 1990, but the best QB I've seen in person down here is James Brown of West Brook. Beasley probably #2 with Chip Ambres #3 and then Dustin Long. I'll also through in Michael Bishop. I saw him dismantle a pretty good LCM in'94.
  10. I don't know about Hoover being #1. I saw them play last year on ESPN against Tim Tebow and his team from Florida and neither team impressed me. SLC wouldv'e cleaned both of their clocks. I also saw South Panola(Miss) play while I was evacuated and the top four teams in Texas (5A) would've beat them. I think either this year or next, the top four teams in Texas are going to play the top four teams in Ohio, which should be very good games. I'd like to see SLC, Katy, Lufkin, and North Shore play Cleveland St, Ignatious, Massilon, Clorain (Cincy), and Princeton (Cincy). Those seem to be the four most consistant teams in each state, year in and year out.
  11. All I know is Lumberton ain't one of my cinderella teams, unless you count winning more than two games, cinderella. My teams are Kirbyville, they deserve special consideration for "kicking" Barbers Hill from the playoffs last year. Buna, I know they are moving to 2a but they haven't done anything for a long time and I think they will upset Anauac and get the last playoff spot in that district. My last team is LCM. I don't think they make the playoffs but I think they finish fourth in that disrict. They have 9 starters comming back on both sides of the ball, so I think they should be most improved team in that disrict but not make the playoffs.
  12. If Memorial can play some defense they could be salty , too. The Titans have always been able to score points, they just haven't been able to stop anybody. If they can get some improved play from the front seven they can make a good run in the playoffs.
  13. Once again Shirley Martin shows why she is a whart on the ass of society. Hooks' program has put more money in this district than all of the tax money she has paid in the years Hooks has been here. Shirley always likes to bring up when someone doesn't live in the district or pay taxes in Orange, she just needs to get off that horse. because there are a lot of employees that don't live in the district. Hooks has brought more class and prestidge to the district than she ever will. Someone ought to ask her why she only makes maybe half of the board meetings. If she can't make at least 75% of the board meetings she ought to give up her seat. She only shows up when she thinks she can get attention, when all she's done is show how ignorant she is!!
  14. 1.West Brook 2. WOS 3.Memorial 4.Central 5.Ozen 6.Silsbee 7.Newton 8.Nederland 9.Jasper 10.Bridge City As of now that would be my preseason top10.
  15. A. WOS wins State title this year. The 7-on-7 team showed they won't miss a beat in offense. They will be bigger and a lot better on defense this year. They also have the hunger from year's playoff loss. b. Newton. The Eagles get to the Championship game and lose to Tatum. c. Silsbee. I think the Tigers make the run WOS made last year.
  16. I was thinking why was Jasper in there also, they're rebuilding. Silsbee would have been a better choice at #10. The top 5 are probably accurate. Gilmer wil be tough with that Kinne kid moving there as their QB. Giddings might be a little high, too. That QB and FB are tough but their defense better be a lot better than it was last year.
  17. Coach Hooks has told me sevral times that he would trade the 18 days in the spring for the 5 he loses in the summer. He is a big believer in spring practice and that's good enough for me.
  18. I agree will Coop. 1. WO-S 2. Silsbee 3. The winner of the BC/Jasper game. Mustangs should be better on defense and their offense should be close to last year's. There won't be a very big drop off from Beasley to Frank at QB. I think Silsbee will have a lot coming back and be tough. BC will have Dishon back but I don't know who else he will have to help him. Jasper lost a bunch on both sides of the ball, however, with the athletes they have they always seem to reload. The other team that may have a shot is Kirbyville. They lost a lot also and they don't reload every year so I think next year they are at home watching the post season next year.
