  2. If Hazlewood doesn't play, I know you don't have snowball's chance. Its probably good he doesn't play, WOS has already sent two QBs out via helecoptor.
  3. I'm from WV, and those two teams a both 1A schools. Matewan is 1A power and Burch... isn't. This was like Throckmorton playing Sabine Pass. Each of those schools only have about 100-150 kids in them. There was probably no second team to put in, so I don't think it was "classless." By the way, Matewan was the WV side in the Hatfields and McCoy feud.
  4. You guys from Kirbyville are living in Fantasyland if you think you're going to beat WOS. You might have some athletes but you don't have enough. The defense this year is a lot better than last year's and is close to the classic chain gang defenses of the past. They have yet to give up a 100 yard rusher and are giving up under 200 yards a game. That includes a win over, what seems to be, a pretty good Dayton team. The 'Stangs will flat out fly to the ball. You Kirbyville people must not remeber last year's game, I know it was a scrimmage, when we pounded you 42- 14, and that was the worst we looked all year. You guys do have shot at second place, as it looks like Silsbee is inconsistant, so I do think you'll be in the playoffs.
  5. Dayton by 30. The Ozen line play is non-exsistant.
  6. I wouldn't put ozen in the top 15 in this area. This is without a doubt the worst Ozen team since their first season. They may finish 5th or 6th in disrtict. Also, you got to have Newton higher. I don't care what class they are playing against, they bring it every game, and I don't know if there are five teams in the area that can beat them. Silsbee will find out Friday why they are #1 in 2A. By the way, word on Silsbee is powerful offense, average defense, at best.
  7. 1. WOS 2. Silsbee I honestly can't figure out the other teams in this district. BC not looking good against Liberty and then loses to Lumberton? That's not good. Kirbyville looks great in their first game and then gets waxed against Carthage. At least Carthage has decent teams most years. Jasper losing to Livingstone should've raised a red flag. They must have played better against Newton only giving up 21 points. Orangefield looked great in their first game and then gives up 40 to East Chambers. EC is a pretty decent 2A school but I thought OF should've won that game. The Bobcats seem to have improved over last year, though. HJ and HF should bring up the rear in district this year. I think this disrtict has two really good teams and then everybody else is average.
  8. I knew it would would be a dogfight, it always is between these two teams. Bevil's injury really hampered the offense. Andre just couldn't throw the deep ball at all with the stinger. It was stinger, had it been a seperated shoulder he would not have gone back in the game. Also don't forget, he starts on defense and that hurt also. For pretty much the whole 2nd half BC was playing 8 or 9 man fronts and WOS still got the job done on the ground. How 'bout that Mustang D, after halfime adjustments BC only had 54 yards in the second half. They really stepped it up when they had to. Adrian Mims (58), had a great game, he ad a hand in each of the 4 sacks in the second half. As for the Vidor fan, unles you have gone and got some new players with any resemblence of speed, if you played WOS in a "real" game the results would be the same as the scrimmage. Yes, WOS/St. Pius would be a good game, better than WOS/Vidor!
  9. Central had 5 turnovers in the 1st half. Sterling led 33-14 at the half. Sterling then hits about a 60 yard TD pass on the first play of the 3rd quarter. Central made valiant comeback effort but fell just short. Derrick Hall, WR/DB didn't play for Central.
  10. Central 9th 14 Hou. Sterling 9th 6 Central JV 22 Hou. Sterling JV 6
  11. The guy that said WB by 21 apparently hasn't seen Central play. Central has a stout defense. They only gave up 147 total yards to Lee, and 54 yards was on one play. This will be a close game. Turnovers will decide this game. I'll say Central by 4.
  12. I saw film of the Ozen/West Brook game and I have to say Ozen will finish about 5th in that 4A district. Their Offensive Line is not very good at all. They never blocked the middle LB all night. When they did block somebody they only stayed on their blocks about 2 seconds and let their man go free. The touchdown pass they had should've been picked. The DB missed timed his jump and jumped too soon, and the WR standing all alone in the end zone, caught the ball. I was just very surprised at how bad they looked. As far as 3A goes I was surprised by Jasper losing to Livingston and Kirbyville putting 51 on Cleveland. It looks like it could be WOS, Silsbee, and Kirbyville in that disrtict.
  13. Central looked very good good last night in the opener. Their defense was outstanding. I know they hurt the 1st string QB but the guy they looked just as good as the first guy. The injury the QB had was grusome. He got horsecollared and when he sit up, grabbed his leg and it looked like Joe Theisman. Lee will have trouble in that 5A district. They are soft on the run. Central looked great on both sides of the ball. The only negative was that they had 4 fumbles, loosing only 1. Central/West Brook should be a war over at Lamar.
  14. After watching theses two teams go at one another in scrimmages that last two years, I'm glad there playing a game that counts. These two teams went at one another pretty good in those scrimmages. I can tell you the WOS coaches expect a haed fought game. From what I've seen from WOS in the two scrimmages they look to be much improved on defense from last year. They have loked like a typical MUSTANG defense, in that they absolutely flat out fly to the football. If Dugat doesn't have a big night Dayton will have long night. I think WOS will win by 10.
  15. Their offensive line has 3 guys 250 or bigger. The defensive line has 2 starters over 250 and rotate a couple of people that weigh some where around 250. That's a little more size than they had last year.
  16. I was told at the Central/Memorial scrimmage that Memorial Stadium would be done by the first home game, Sep. 8.
  17. Central looked good in the scrimmage. Memorial couldn't run very well against Central's #1 D. They did get a couple of big plays passing. The central offense, even without Brandon Williams, pounded the ball on the ground against Memorial's #1 D. Central looked better thatn I thought they would. Memorial will probably be able to put points on the board, but they still have questions on defense. I'm sure Coach Thompson will have them ready come district.
  18. Koop, when would they start evacuations, if they become necessary?
  19. Brandon Williams (Texas A&M Commit) did not play in the scrimmage. RB Morris Thomas broke for a long run on the 2nd play from scrimmage and would've scored but ran into a memorial coach , who was standing on the field. Also, Memorial's Offensive line is HUGE!!
  20. In the live game portion Central outscored Memorial 1-0.
  21. The scrimmage will be Saturday at 9 A.M.. The Central coaches want to get done and scout West Brook, which starts at 11 A.M. Saturday. I was told they're going to scrimmage for about an hour and a half. The busses are to arrive at 11 O'clock sharp to picke up players.
  22. The WOS offense looked about what I expected, they won't be far off from last year. Kicker, I don't know what defense you were watching but WOS' defense persued better than they did at anytime last year. Last year they never had any goal line stands, teams just ran up the gut and scored. Last night's stand was very encourageing. As far as the TD run, Coach T was disappointed on the missed tackles, but he also appaulogized to players telling them he put them in a bad call. As for the kicking game, we need one. However, I think help is on the way. the JV kicker from last year thought he was going to be home schooled this year and didn't come out this summer. I talked to him after the game and he told me that is NOT going to be home schooled and he is enrolling Monday and would talk to the coaches about coming back out. He supposedly went to a kicking camp at UT this summer. He was very good at the end of the year last year. As for BH, they are going to have to have improve a whole bunch to compete in 4A. I hope the players that missed the game have big impact on their team because they're going to need them.
