Evidently lots of internal grumbling about how that game ended. That can't help the raiders down the road.
-
Unless a school signs a waiver saying he did not move for athletic purposes (which it would be if moving just after an athletic dismissal) a player would be ineligible for a calendar year, not just 15 days.
-
Did they have to forfeit ALL their games? So 0-??? That is not good.

Never doubt Admin. 8) 8)

It was stated in the "If you were an umpire what would your call be on this play"?
The ball was caught and dislodged by contact.
That information, along with the photo, was given from the get go. -
No mention of double play here. Just mentions if he decides not to slide what he must and must not do.
And he did not avoid contact. He is out. This is where a good, hat turned backwards chest bump, might help. -
Mofo use your "umpires helper" and get the call right. You answered it in black and white for us all.
Quote from your helper.
If a runner goes into a base standing up and this act hindered the fielder in an attempt to make a play, it is interference. If he does not slide, he must get out of the fielder's way.
Do the right thing like the dad did the other night apologizing to you.
Get the call right.

Reading from the nfhs rule book, an umpire from shared this with me.
He claims that runner should be out due to numerous rules. "Take your pick" to quote him. (thirty years experience in Texas High School Baseball) I did not tell him that umpires were commenting here. You know they wil never overrule one another when one is wrong. And we can all see this play is not 10 feet up the line.
Article 2 Any runner is out when he:
2B. does not legally slide and causes illegal contact (he could be out by that rule) and/or illegally alters the actions of a fielder in the immediate act of making a play (he could be out by that rule)
2C. does not legally attempt to avoid a fielder in the immediate act of making a play on him. (he could be out by that rule)
-
So answer the original question Mr. Ump. Is the guy in the picture out or safe?
Cause there is enough imfromation given here by the picture (and knowing the situation was a steal and dislodged ball) to make a call.
-
Official's call was incorrect. Runner is out for making contact on play at a base that he did not make a legal slide directly into bag. If he slides directly into bag and makes contact and the ball comes out he is safe.
That is no where near the case. This photo shows obvious illegal contact and he should have been called out. The only question that remained should have been, was it malicious.

Any news on this one?
-
Not a rules question, but just a question. Can you please update photos on arbiter umpire site so coaches can put names with faces of umpires?

So how many chances should one get before they deal with the consequences? Wow!!!
Sounds like it depends. If you are moving TO Nederland then you get as many as you need. If you are moving FROM Nederland then it's time to "deal with the consequences".
Glad you're home dup. Go proof all the haters wrong. -
They evidently don't even have to take an eye exam.

Anyone who can assist me in gaining some year-by-year records of the Vidor Pirates please 718-7231. I would certainly appreciate.

Gabe you need to check your sources on that historical over all record.
718-7231 ???
Too many wins for them in last 60 or 70 years. I could be wrong. Just doesn't look right.
-
So PNG LCM and Livingston have clinched playoff spots.
and Nederland can clinch with next win, or any Vidor loss. -
I overheard one 20-4A coach say the words "I think Livingston might have the best team in our district"
Now don't get offended. He was just speaking highly of Livingston. He was not trying to degrade any others. -
How many wins does Memorial have on the season? Who is coaching that bunch this year? I was recently told they have a pitching prospect over there. Any validity to that?
-
Topic: Vidor vs. Port Neches-Groves Game Thread/Vidor wins 8-3!
why does the topic title read Vidor won??????? -
Raiders are struggling putting runs on the board. 2 runs in 5 district games!

thats where I got all of this.
i was in need of two more to win.
cant use weber! graduated high school before 93
is it wes cooksey as someone posted or jessie cooksey as someone posted? or two different people?
I think I can use ryan robertson. Year graduated from what high school?
I think I can use bronson from jasper.
that should get me to 51 to win the argument!
-
Doing research to solve argument (now wager) I got into. Need some help with this. My argument is that our local area has had over 50 (which equals 51 or more) kids get picked up by professional baseball organizations over the last 20 years. Don't forget to name school. And keep it within last 20 or they don't help me win.
I looked up these and I hope I get some help from you guys to add two more with the year they graduated high school and what team they originally signed with.
So far I have have: 49 from 14 schools please help, need a couple more since 1993.

I think the Beaumont Enterprise should spend more time and energy writing articles about kids that are eligible to play and are staying out of trouble abd excelling on the field instead of writing on this topic.
