Newton football fans, your Eagles are ONE GAME AWAY from a date at Cowboy Stadium in Arlington for the Texas, Class 2A, Division I Football State Championship.  Standing in their way, the Yoemen from Cameron Yoe High School.  This battle to determine that spot will commence tonight at Woodforest Bank Stadium in Shenandoah at 7:30 pm!  And as has been the case since SETXsports' inception, Newton football can be heard here tonight right here on SETXsports.com and thanks to our partnership with the Legacy Sports Network, all along the internet using the apps provided by our wonderful partners!

W.T. Johnston's Eagles have been rarely challenged in their road to this State Semifinal Game.  In their perfect regular season, the Eagles scored at least 40 points in 9 of their 10 games (they scored 35 in the 10th), hitting the 50 point range 6 times, the 60's 4 times and even ringing the 70 point barrier once.  The playoffs have held little difference as after a bidistrict bye, the Eagles took down Teague 68-17 in the area round.  Newton scored a season high in points in their 82-35 regional semifinal win over Grandview.  And the Eagles qualified for this game by defeating Franklin last week, 49-13.

Yoe will look to match Newton's irresistable force with its immovable object defense.  In Yoe's, 13 games, they have yielded more than 20 points in a game only 3 times and have yet to hit that mark in the playoffs. After also going undefeated in regular season play and earning a bidistrict bye, the Yoemen defeated Marion 42-14 in area play.  They then dispatched Lago Vista 31-7 in the regional semifinals and last week defeated Hallettsville in the regional finals 38-19 to earn their spot in this semifinal.

The winner of this game will face the winner of Wall (12-1) and Daingerfield (11-3) game which is also being played tonight at 7:30 pm.

Join Bobby Fillyaw, Donnie Meek and John Meek for all of the action from Shenandoah beginning with the pregame show at 7:05 pm which, as always, will include some comments from Coach Johnston!  You can hear all of the action by tuning into the KTXJ 102.7 FM or by clicking on the following link:
