Hmmm..... the fact a team has won 7 of last 9 games (78% win ) doesn't need any slanting. That's just pure fact.

How is any of what I stated in the regards to these facts misleading?

I am strictly talking head to head.

I was just talking about how you only count the years that make it look best as usual, The Hawks have had just as many regional tournament appearances as the tigers and I believe more state tournament appearances than the tigers over the last 5 or 6 years, Your right not to worry we wont be any competition against the tigers and they way you made it sound we havent been competing for years.......oh right I can put one of these  ;) behind it all and it will all be in jest...

Well what is the official record say for the last 6 years...
Last 5 years (these are the years that these two have been in the same district, 21-3A):

Silsbee leads head to head 9-6.

            HJ            SIL
'07          2              1
'08          2              2
'09          1              2
'10          1              2
'11          0              2

Partly correct. In the last 5 years, HJ has 5 regional appearances to Silsbee's 4, but both have the same amount of state appearances, 2 each. HJ in '07 and '09, Silsbee in '08 and '10. (and yes HJ won state in '07)

Also, Silsbee has a regional final appearance in '05, their first year down in 3A. So since both teams have been in 3A at the same time, they both have 5 regional tourney appearances. Only year HJ and Silsbee did not make regional tourney in last 7 years was '06, when WOS made their lone state tourney appearance.

Kelly vs Hamshire Fannett
Hmmm? Think you guys can handle HF? Gonna be a different team this year.  ;)
i just want to see what all the hypes about. Kelly is a young team they scrimmaged Vidor this weekend and had i believe 4 freshmen playing varsity and a sophomore. Lets just say they handled Vidor pretty well. It will be interesting to see this team grow up.
Kelly is young. I agree. Aggressive group with a will to win. Should be a good game. ;)

That's not saying much Dove, since you don't think Nederland is going to be good this year.  ::) And since when is judging a summer JV basketball game ever considered a benchmark for success?
Weak!

Poppa- While the numbers are accurate, there was not a significant difference until Silsbee won both games last year.  If HJ would, by some chance, win both games this year, it would be about as close as you could possibly get for the aforementioned period.  On the other hand, if Silsbee wins both games this year, one can make the case that they have dominated.  But, at this point, that is hardly the case.

I dont think too many Tiger or Hawk fans need to reply.

Personally, I am looking forward to the matchups Silsbee will have in the three tourneys they play in. (YMBL, Nederland and Sherman tourneys).

Silsbee vs. HJ..... eh, been there, done that. ::) Besides, Silsbee has won 7 of the last 9 games against HJ, starting to get too one-sided to get excited about that matchup. ;) ;D

I was going to leave it alone until this comment and he sucked me in, too lopsided my butt....every matchup is highly contested and one of the best games of the year always.....Kountze and HJ have had some great match ups as well as Kountze and EC....and I'm sure there are many more like HJ and Nederland have been highly competitive as of late.....I want basketball to start tomorrow dang it...

Could it possibly be that there are more HJ and Silsbee fans particpating on this board than any other schools?  If that is the case, would you expect them to be talking about Woodville basketball, Orangfield basketball, Spurger basketball or HJ/Silsbee basketball?

There would probably be more interest shown in/by other local teams if they had had the same level of success as these two have had recently.  Especially if there were two more local teams in the same district at that level.  So all of you other local teams take that as a challenge!!  Then we will talk about you. 8)

Silsbee vs HJ has been the PREMIER match up in SETX for the past 7 years. Before then I would say it was Kountze vs HJ, Ozen vs Central, Silsbee vs PA Lincoln, West Brook vs Central. The only schools with a huge fan base to make noise over the past few years has been Silsbee, HJ, and Koutntze. Evadable and Spurger have done well but don't see too many of their fans on here. If you have never been to a Silsbee vs HJ home and home game, I'd advise you to do so. I really enjoy the fans and the clean game both teams play. Over the last few years I think both teams have combined to have 5 All State Players (Stallworth, Jones, Robinson,Donahoe, and Prudhomme), 2 of the states best coaches, and the largest crowds in SETX. Nuffield said!

    • Heading into the summer and before two a days get going… what are some concerns or positives about your team heading into next season? I’d like to hear from some H-F people because according to some they are the district favorites heading into the season. I’m just trying to pass some time at least until we get our DCTF magazines lol For Bellville my concern is filling some holes on defense… specifically at LB,S, and DT… bright spots ? Basically the entire offensive line returns that paved the way for 3 RBs to rush for more than 1600 yards a  on the season (2 of those RBs will return as well). With all that said Bellville should still be a region favorite this upcoming season.
    • That’s not a choice, it’s the same thing and equally dangerous.    I’ve literally heard (with my own listening ears) the R County Chairman boast in a speech that “the only time I’ve ever voted for a Democrat was when I voted for Hillary in the Democrat primary! HAHAHAHAHA!!!!” You’ll never guess who is tweeting all over the place about how we need closed primaries this week.  Every action has an equal and opposite reaction.  Escalation of force.  These are concepts that you completely understand and teach.  Whatever we do today, we’ll pay for tomorrow. Impeach a President over something stupid? They’ll impeach yours twice.  Promise to lock up your political rival if you get elected? You can’t cry over somebody else doing it to you… even if you were just blowing a little smoke for the morons.   The old days of “don’t throw rocks if you live in glass houses” has now become “I’m pretty sure I’ve got more rocks than they do.” The frightening thing is that Ds only do it to Rs. Rs do it to Ds and other Rs alike without hesitation.
    • Definitely does NOT sound like a fit for PN-G.
    • No offense, but both sides do it.  The Rs in Texas want to do away with decades of precedent and demand that Dems are no longer given chair positions on any committees in the Tx House. It sounds reasonable enough, until you arrive at a point when the Ds enjoy a single seat majority in the house, select the most leftist speaker of all times, and the refuse to give Rs any say in the legislative process by refusing to give them any committee chairs.     Experience has shown me that any time a party seeks to consolidate power in a legislative body, it backfires.    What I don’t like is a world where we cheer for Manchin for doing his own thing, but also re-elect guys like Paxton and Patrick when they make threats to R Legislators if they don’t do exactly what the Radical Right demands. Our Rep here in Hardin County lost his spot for voting against private school vouchers-his wife is a teacher. He also voted his conscience on the Paxton impeachment.  It cost him his seat…. Not because of the will of the voters in his district, but because if millions of outside dollars pumped into the race from outside the district and even an endorsement of his unknown challenger by Donald Trump himself.    Why do people like you applaud Manchin for being his own man and then vote against Phelan for doing the same thing?
