Ozen Puncer Suspended/Charges May Be Filed

Any person involved in a fight at GCCISD receives a citation by the Baytown Police Department and an automatic removal from campus. This young lady, and I use that term loosely, needs to be punished to the fullest extend of school and civic law. There is no place for that type of conduct in our schools or UIL athletic events.

Kids now days think they are above the law. Nothing will happen to me because my parents will be there to get me out of trouble. I really don't think this is the case with this young lady but kids in general. For some reason the kids nowdays think they won't be caught.  Well here is some advice, you will.  What young people don't understand is their parents were young once also. To be honest I had the same attitude when I was young but I was responsible for my actions. The kids nowdays are not. We have more and more young people living off the government. We also have more and more grandparents raising grandkids.  Sad, Sad, Sad. Society today is messed up plain and simple.  :'(

If they allow her to play, then Ozen has some really bad moral issues.  She phycial attacked someone and they will continue to let her play.  She wouldn't even see the floor again if I was her coach.  She may do it again and this time be alot worse!

What led to this?  While I am not condoning the punch AT ALL!!!  There has to be more to it then her just deciding to punch someone after the game....  Was there an exchange between the two during the game that led to it??

From what I heard, there was trash talking during the game.

I wouldn't think they would let her play again. This was not a punch during the middle of the game where you could say it was in the heat of the battle. This was premeditated. She looked for an opening and found it. If they excuse this it would be the worse possible signal to send to kids that try to play the game the right way. Now, I would not be surprised if this doesn"t help her get an administrative position at Ozen or within the BISD at a later date. It's never too early to work on that resume.. ;D

What is sad is that there even has to BE a conversation about whether she plays again or not!  We have got to hold kids accountable.  Not only would it send a poor message to the other players but, what would they be teaching her?  Again, it is inconceivable to me that there is even a question that merits discussion!

And it was a sucker punch from behind.
Well, I hope she stays suspended, but I hear she is coming back on the team next week.

I am having a really hard time wrapping my head around this...  You are telling me this "player" will be allowed back on the court THIS season???  Is there reasoning that this was "after the UIL event"?  Are there any guidelines?  does anyone know if she is being formally charged?

    • We'll see. I don't trust us.
    • Starting pitching has been shaky the last few weeks due to some injuries outside of Hagen Smith.  He goes tomorrow, so y’all should be fine
    • Manchin may get it but any mention of the radical left that wanted to get rid of the filibuster and end almost 220 years of history because the Democrats are mad?  The House and Senate are obviously different legislative bodies with entirely different election processes and rules for a reason. The House can vote on laws with a simple majority vote. The Senate put rules in place that it would make it much tougher to pass laws. Laws should be difficult to pass. The Senate is often the holdup of the right and left. It takes 60 votes to break the filibuster so any law will almost certainly require agreement at least in part, from opposing sides of an issue. Because they can’t get laws passed, the radical left is like a baby having a tantrum and wants to change over 200 years of history and make it potentially ridiculously easy to pass laws. I have seen current poll maps and it is possible for the Republicans to sweep into complete power in November but by the tiniest margin. That would possibly mean that a single vote margin in both houses could enact what you might call the radical right laws. There would be nothing that the Democrats could do to stop any legislation whatsoever if the left (they are all radical, minus Manchin) got their filibuster rule changed.  That is where the current filibuster comes into play as any new law would require several Democrats to agree with the majority Republicans and vice versa.  Do you want the potential for your radical right to have free rein as the radical left wants by killing the filibuster or is the radical left just as (if not more) dangerous? Let’s see if we have a history in this area? Oh yeah, the Democrats changed the rules in the Senate to allow federal judges to not have to overcome the filibuster. Obama was not getting his federal judge nominations passed and being angry, they changed the rules instead of nominating more moderate justices. They were warned that it would come back to bite them. They didn’t care and chose the nuclear option to change the rules. Oops! Any guess how Trump got all of his Supreme Court nominees passed against strong Democrat opposition? The Democrats got rid of the filibuster for federal judges after another tantrum   So when you are so worried about the radical right, are you equally concerned in what the radical left is always doing by changing rules and history which were put into place just for situations like we are in? So while Manchin gets it, what about his other 50 colleagues (49 + Harris)?  What concerns you more, Abbott and Paxton or the Democrats who want to make it to where if the Republicans do take over, they can go wild… at least in your mind?
    • MODS please remove that ISD twitter link! I had no idea it would copy the whole posting. I only highlighted the portion about the venue change. Sorry about that!
