Schnellenberger, FAU give Tubbs, LU strong model

I wasn't trying to start be argumentative.  "So you know the number of donors?", said UNLV.  What kind of question is that?

This is what you said, "I just don't see enough money from private donors for a new stadium". To make this statement, you must know

who and how much Lamar is getting in donations.

I don't have any tangible evidence.  It's just speculation, a wild guess.  But you're right, I don't know.

Well I have a source that says Lamar is raking in big bucks. Exact quote, "well over 8 figures"

You know i like you UNLV, but i think people go to The Big House, or The Rose Bowl, Or Notre Dame Stadium, Death Valley, whereever, to see those stadiums where you have 80-100k people pack the place, people from Houston or anywhere aren't just going to drive to Cardinal Stadium to sit a decent looking stadium. We have to put a winner on the field to pack the place, start tradition, win Conference Championships, to get people in the stands.\

Starting up the program will take a lot of time. My guess is over half the people on this board will be calling for coaches head after 2 years of losing, I'm hoping that doesn't happen, but for ONCE i will be realistic. I like how Billy and Jimmy are taking the best approach to fielding a winning team and taking their time. Trust me, it will pay off.

Oh and BTW, my guess is we go undefeated our second year.  ;)

Did you read the article on Schnellenberger?  Did he take the wait-n-see slow approach?

His approach is closer to what I am saying Lamar should do. Finally, BT hasn't released the plans so you don't know if Lamar

will take your approach or something closer to my approach.

Well Schnellenberger didn't wait until they had a nice, big on-campus stadium before starting their football program.  If you read the article, they've been playing in a renovated high school stadium, and will be until they get their stadium built, which they are still trying to raise money for.  Yet they were still able to accomplish a lot on the field, mainly because he knows how to win.  It didn't take FAU long to reach the FCS playoffs and win.  That's what Lamar needs to do.  If Tubbs and Simmons have aspirations of going FBS then they must expand Cardinal Stadium and they'll find a way to pay for it, but first Lamar needs a coach that can build a winning program fast.

Yes and I know the exact amount, but this isn't about money, this is about building a good program. Schnellenberger didn't win immediately did he? I mean he says be patient with the coach, and that is what we should be. I wouldn't say we are taking a "wait and see approach" we are taking a "smart" approach so we will have a winning program. We do not want football to fail again do we?

11-3 in a startup program in year 3 is winning immediately.

    • We'll see. I don't trust us.
    • Starting pitching has been shaky the last few weeks due to some injuries outside of Hagen Smith.  He goes tomorrow, so y’all should be fine
    • Manchin may get it but any mention of the radical left that wanted to get rid of the filibuster and end almost 220 years of history because the Democrats are mad?  The House and Senate are obviously different legislative bodies with entirely different election processes and rules for a reason. The House can vote on laws with a simple majority vote. The Senate put rules in place that it would make it much tougher to pass laws. Laws should be difficult to pass. The Senate is often the holdup of the right and left. It takes 60 votes to break the filibuster so any law will almost certainly require agreement at least in part, from opposing sides of an issue. Because they can’t get laws passed, the radical left is like a baby having a tantrum and wants to change over 200 years of history and make it potentially ridiculously easy to pass laws. I have seen current poll maps and it is possible for the Republicans to sweep into complete power in November but by the tiniest margin. That would possibly mean that a single vote margin in both houses could enact what you might call the radical right laws. There would be nothing that the Democrats could do to stop any legislation whatsoever if the left (they are all radical, minus Manchin) got their filibuster rule changed.  That is where the current filibuster comes into play as any new law would require several Democrats to agree with the majority Republicans and vice versa.  Do you want the potential for your radical right to have free rein as the radical left wants by killing the filibuster or is the radical left just as (if not more) dangerous? Let’s see if we have a history in this area? Oh yeah, the Democrats changed the rules in the Senate to allow federal judges to not have to overcome the filibuster. Obama was not getting his federal judge nominations passed and being angry, they changed the rules instead of nominating more moderate justices. They were warned that it would come back to bite them. They didn’t care and chose the nuclear option to change the rules. Oops! Any guess how Trump got all of his Supreme Court nominees passed against strong Democrat opposition? The Democrats got rid of the filibuster for federal judges after another tantrum   So when you are so worried about the radical right, are you equally concerned in what the radical left is always doing by changing rules and history which were put into place just for situations like we are in? So while Manchin gets it, what about his other 50 colleagues (49 + Harris)?  What concerns you more, Abbott and Paxton or the Democrats who want to make it to where if the Republicans do take over, they can go wild… at least in your mind?
    • MODS please remove that ISD twitter link! I had no idea it would copy the whole posting. I only highlighted the portion about the venue change. Sorry about that!
