DoggStyle Posted 20 hours ago Report Posted 20 hours ago Good wins against two not-so-great teams. So, what kind of strategy is it to leave all your starters in until you're up by 40+ POINTS before mixing in 2nd/3rd stringers? That's a recipe to get a starter hurt, especially when you're in the running for playoffs. You leave your star RBs and starting defensive players in? Is Nederland trying to make a statement or something? All the crowd praises the coach when winning, but if a starter got hurt unnecessarily I'm pretty sure they'd turn. Just idiotic if you ask me. There's plenty of 2nd/rd stringers who could've still done well against that team. Quote

Just for comparison, for the past several years anyway, in runaway games, C.Joseph left starters in the first half regardless of score. But 2nd half most if not all starters sit out, and the bench gets emptied. If the opposition makes too big of a comeback, or perhaps on a critical play, a few appropriate starters may get back on the field. NDNWarrior 1 Quote

Starters pretty much stayed in until mid 4th qtr, up by like 40 points. Quote
Bigdog Posted 19 hours ago Report Posted 19 hours ago Neumann kept starters in until 1st series of 3rd qtr in blowouts. I guess the coach felt they had something that needed working on. Tougher games are coming up. Reagan 1 Quote
Darth Texas Posted 18 hours ago Report Posted 18 hours ago I don’t necessarily want my starters sitting for half of three games in a row before starting a stretch against png, Texas city, and Dayton. Nederland might go as well as 3-0 in that stretch, but just as easily goes 0-3. Can’t afford a slow start just because the last couple weeks were blowouts. bulldawg64 1 Quote

Nederland kids are pretty prone to injuries these days, so I personally would take more caution. Quote
navydawg31 Posted 11 hours ago Report Posted 11 hours ago Didn’t have an issue at all with the starters being in… had to get some work in some way AggiesAreWe 1 Quote
prepballfan Posted 1 hour ago Report Posted 1 hour ago In our game we began pulling in the 3rd. Especially at certain positions. By 4th it was pretty much getting everyone a chance to play. Quote
