They focus on trying to matchup teams in the same division with similar records. They also try to have teams play other areas of the state they normally wouldn't be able to see in the season. The better smaller schools will sometimes play up division teams. Like for Onalaska we play 2 4A teams and the 3A state champ. It is not perfect but with how many teams are in it, I can see why it becomes a struggle at times.

Onalaska should be very competitive again this year?  That program has become solid.

Graduated one all-state player but still return one. Will look different not as many dunks but I do believe still one of the better teams in the region. Top 3A region 3 teams I would expect to be: east chambers (stud guard and coach), onalaska (still press and shoot lots of 3s), Westwood (returns all but one), Central Heights, Trinity (they should take another huge leap and my favorite for d1), Orangefield (great coach and return some good pieces). Warren, Huntington, PCA, Diboll all going to be solid too. I do think Diboll has a chance to be real good. 
 

Lorena and Tarkington will be really good too after dropping down from 4A.

Agreed on all. Diboll should be good this year and really good for a few years after that. Their JV was solid and their incoming freshman class will be the best group (if they stay together) that’s come out of there in a long time….Westwood  should be illegal. lol
