Porter Posted Sunday at 02:38 AM Report Posted Sunday at 02:38 AM This just makes gas prices even more than a slap in the face. If we’re the king of oil then why in the heck are we paying ridiculous fuel prices?!! DCT 1 Quote

Well obviously you are concerned or you wouldn’t have responded but I like the Ronald Reagan belief “Trust but verify” and until I see receipts I am very skeptical. Either way the American people are being and have been price gouged by Exxon, Chevron and many other oil and gas companies since this war started. Their profits have doubled from the 2nd quarter last year to the 2nd quarter this year. At the end of the day it’s blood money in my opinion. If you to want be happy about it knock yourself out. That price gouging not only affects the price of fuel but everything else an American buy. I also tithe at my church which supports a lot different ministries but it’s not with blood money. It’s with honest hard earned money. Quote

So what you are saying is it's okay to reap benefits just don't celebrate it. Gotcha BTW, not one of those charities or the church asked how I was able to give the money. Helping to spread good will with my investment monies. That's all. Quote

Celebrating Americans getting the shaft because your bank account is getting fat from Exxon bending people over at the pump is not cool. There are soldiers losing their lives over Exxon exploiting this crisis. Maybe that’s something you should have kept in your head instead of putting in post. If you can’t understand that I don’t know what to tell you. Tithing and contributing to charities is a great thing. Quote

And you wonder how insults get started on here.. You are really twisting aren’t you. Exxon along with other oil and gas companies are exploiting this crisis with Iran to the tune of doubling their profits from last year. 7.1 billion to 14.2 billion while soldiers are losing their lives. As a 7 year military veteran I find it disgusting. As my original post said Americans are being gouged at the pump. Maybe by the end of the year gas will be $6 a gallon and you can get on here and celebrate your bank account getting fat because of it. SMH Quote

SMH This is what you posted: There are soldiers losing their lives over Exxon exploiting this crisis. That reads as though Exxon is causing the soldier's deaths. As if the war is being run by Exxon. Is that what you mean? I think you meant to say Exxon is exploiting this crisis while soldiers are losing their lives. That would make a little more sense. Quote
mat Posted Sunday at 03:01 PM Report Posted Sunday at 03:01 PM I don’t agree with the direction of the war. Big oil and many other industries have been exploiting things for decades for mega profit, nothing new. Right or wrong it has positive or negative effects for most citizens. I don’t think anyone on here is OK the loss of military life but none of us can do anything about it. AggiesAreWe 1 Quote

baddog Posted Sunday at 03:59 PM Report Posted Sunday at 03:59 PM Man, and I always thought that the country profits from wartimes. WWII got us out of the Great Depression. Some of us would not have survived that era. AggiesAreWe and Reagan 2 Quote

I understand but bragging about financial gain from a war while soldiers are losing their lives and people are struggling just to fill their vehicles up and put food on their table just didn’t sit well with me. There are people across this country that are struggling from the cost of high fuel which causes everything else to go up. Just at our church alone I have seen the lines of cars that we give food to weekly go up drastically since fuel prices have went up. Not everyone is as fortunate as others. Quote
AggiesAreWe Posted Sunday at 05:00 PM Report Posted Sunday at 05:00 PM My financial gain is because of investments I made many many years ago with some royalties I have from some property I own up around Cushing, Tx. Exxon and a couple other oil companies were part of my investment plan along with a few other stocks. I have taken some hits over the years but in the long term it has been very profitable. Being invested in oil company stocks you have to take the good with the bad. I am quite proud of the work I have done in my investing. thetragichippy 1 Quote

All politicians--regardless of Party--blame Big Oil when something they do causes prices to rise. Oil is a global commodity. If Administrations hadn't invoked policies that made it difficult to build/revamp refineries to process our own product, we wouldn't be quite so dependent on foreign supply. Trump is taking the easy way out. Just like all the rest. Blame someone else for your own screw-ups. Project reinvestments are typically done on a 10 year payout. The 10 year average profit margin for XOM & CVX is right at 6%. Hardly a profit large enough to make major investments in new technology. They don't set the price of oil, nor the price at the majority of the pumps. I guess everyone's a free market capitalist--until they're not. No wonder socialism and communism are gaining traction. Now, we're deciding how much profit is too much. Sounds suspiciously like the Democratic Socialists like AOC, Mamdani, & the Bernie Bro's to me. AggiesAreWe 1 Quote
