Silsbee has beat Yates the last few times due to solid PG play and pressuring the ball. Silsbee doesn't press and right now turns the ball over to much. Miracles do happen but I wouldn't expect one this time. Yates 102 Silsbee 79.

Yates thrives off the press and turnovers. Silsbee has not done a good job of taking care of the ball this year, and they're not going to magically morph into a different team by Friday.

That's a recipe for a potential disaster.

Yates by 20+

Silsbee had over 20 turnovers in the Madisonville game. It was why the game was so close.

Tigers turn it over way too much to have any kind of chance vs. Yates.

solid point guard play, Which reminds me of Braelon Bush. The most electric point guard that I have seen play in the 4A ranks.

Silsbee vs. Houston ISD teams over the last 13 seasons (2013-present)

Overall record

26-8

Playoff record

19-6

Since the 2016 season, Silsbee is 15-3 vs. Houston ISD in the playoffs. The three losses were to Yates in 2019 regional final, Washington in 2023 regional final, Wheatley in 2025 2nd round. Wheatley ended up in state championship game.

One could say that Silsbee has owned Houston ISD over the last dozen years.

I see the overall going to 26-9, playoff record to 19-7.

Of course. I want to be wrong and hope I am wrong.

But just like my sports betting, I don't make picks on emotion.

What’s the record vs Yates specifically?

Going 2 for 3 in that run against Washington was really something.  For those three years it was essentially the same teams facing one another all three times.  Same core anyway.

And it was more or less the same thing with Yates during the Bush/Adams/McCain years.   Silsbee has surely been blessed.

Okay Tigers.  You lost to Bridge City by only 5 last time out.  Bridge City just beat Washington by 9.  Washington beat Yates by 3 in their first meeting this year.   So Silsbee should be plus 7 against Yates.

What do you mean it doesn't work that way?  Anyhow, I know the Tigers will give it their best shot.  They put together a pretty decent district season and have a post season win under their belt.  You never know.

The only way Silsbee can win is if:

1. They miraculously cut the turnovers down under 10 for the game.

2. Will need a big game from Johnson, Cartwright, and Arline.

3. Yates plays their worst game of the season.

4. Silsbee decides to press like its 2016. Just let athletes be athletic and run tonight.
