Besides La Porte what other ISDs in this district is open enrollment?

I know GCISD is starting open enrollment for 2026-27. So, Sterling and GCM. As funding and budgets get crunched, more and more will probably turn to open enrollment. ISD's are usually one of the largest employers in an area. People in power in the communities won't let them go down. Too important.

Any thoughts on DCTX district predictions? They're actually predicting 9-5AD1 to be one of the State's toughest 5A districts after looking at all the teams. I see--on paper--a lot of balance between teams. I don't really see any gimme games. Going to have to come to play each week.

The BU disrespect is a head-scratcher.

I don't see WB making the playoffs.

The rest of it looks fine to me.

Region 3 is stacked!

Yep. R2 looks pretty salty to me from a depth perspective also. You'll finally get to see Bulldog. LP already has a countdown clock to the first game on their webpage. I'm ready. Last year left a bad taste.

Yup. I'm expecting R2 vs R3 in Arlington, just have to weed out the teams.

Yep. I'd enjoy hearing some insight after listening to the BU coach interview with Stepp. He seemed like he has the temperament to really help the program over there.

They might not score on us again this year 😁🙃

Nope

I don't exactly disagree with your picks, but it would be nice to hear your analysis for how your top 4 choices fit your criteria..

From a Lufkin guys perspective, the Panthers are loaded on defense, however there are many unknowns on the offensive side with all the key skilled positions fielding all new starters. The OL will be pretty good. I believe Lufkin has much to prove this year, they will be really young, there were 38 Freshman who played on the Varsity in the Spring game who will be sophomores in August,.  There are 27 Seniors and 34 juniors on the 2026 team. Several of those Sophomores and Juniors of course will be on JV.

PAM only has 2 O starters returning, while WB has 7 and United has 6 and LaPorte 7. WB and United only return 4 starters on D each. PAM lost a couple key players but they still return 7 from that D who played in the Semi Finals last year.  That is significant. LaPorte returns a potent offense. Your top two choices are solid.

I think GC dropping down from 6A and after playing NS, SC and CE King will surprise this district, they return 6 on O and 9 on D. You can't tell me they won't find some advantages to that move down. Now Sterling also returns a ton of starters on both sides too (8 O/6 D) who will be looking to improve on last seasons success.

Can't comment on NC or Ball, DCTF has picked them at the bottom of the district. Anyway, I look at returning starters and where they finished in 2025, head coaches and who they played last season. When you look at those factors you can see the makings of a competitive district. Although I've done analysis many years now, I'm still looking at this 9-5A district from afar, and with Lufkin located from 110-140 miles further North of our SETX opponents, it makes us a little isolated from that football corridor information.

GCM and Sterling definitely won't be their usual pushover selves....Sterling popped up and beat Barbers Hill last year and they were very competitive vs Lufkin and BU.....

GCM is really an unknown, they got blown away by anyone w/a pulse outside of Sterling who they beat Week 1.....but agree going from playing North Shore, CE King et al to this district has to be a breath of fresh air

That was my reason for saying that about Lufkin young in the skill position plus I see how yall played against bu and wb last year I see them winning those games this year

I’m anxious to see what Kade Dieudonne can do at the Varsity level. He’s another young RB in Simon’s mold in the making. Looks to be a baller.
