Beautiful Stadium! Yes. I thought Bailey looked really good. LP tackling is atrocious still. Not sure what’s up with that. Too much head down & arm attempted tackles. Been talking about that for 3 weeks now. NDNWarrior 1 Quote
1970 Posted 15 hours ago Report Posted 15 hours ago A bit of a somewhat sloppy game, lots of penalties, dropped passes, but sometimes it works that way. Good win for the Indians. OlDawg 1 Quote
OlDawg Posted 15 hours ago Report Posted 15 hours ago Simon wound up with 145 & 2 TD. Obviously didn’t get the ball as much when LP got behind by so much. Wells (young QB) was 15/18/100 & TD Quote
OlDawg Posted 15 hours ago Report Posted 15 hours ago Safe travels home Indian fans & good luck the rest of the way. LP needs their week off to regroup for district after the schedule they’ve played. Darth Texas, prepballfan and CS. 1 2 Quote

As nice as everything is & handicap seating, elevators and all, she still has to have assistance in the restroom and there’s no family restroom. But, you can’t accommodate everyone all the time. We can still watch from home. So, that’s good. She misses the bands though. PN-G bamatex, Darth Texas and prepballfan 2 1 Quote

OlDawg Posted 3 hours ago Report Posted 3 hours ago I've been worried about LP's D ever since the previous DC left for Shadow Creek. I know the new DC is probably very good. But, this is the most porous LP D I've seen in a few years. Even when they are in position, they seem to have forgotten how to properly wrap up and tackle. Part of that is the opponents they've played as they're all well above average teams. But, if LP doesn't get these issues cleaned up for district, they may be looking at a trip away in the first round. They need this off week to regroup and focus on fundamentals again. I haven't seen any real improvement since Week 1. I think it will be good for them to also have some time without all the press. Press has been crawling all over since before the first game. Not sure how much of a distraction it has been. But, I can't think it would be helpful. Friendswood always plays LP tough, and they look like they are definitely a better squad than last year from the scores I've seen. Really tough game coming up. Hoping this loss will help them refocus, and start fixing some of the issues these good opponents have revealed. May also be time to give Wells his shot. He threw some nice balls last night, and showed some good scrambling skills. Still, to be 2-1 (vs 0-3 last year) against the same competition with all the hoopla is not a bad start. Just need to keep improving. Quote

Just need to keep improving. The Bulldogs will be ok; they're a good team. I was surprised that they didn't keep it on the ground more, but maybe they just wanted to work on the passing game more before district games begin. They used 2 different QBs, one seemed to be more for the passing plays. The game was really hyped, and the Bulldogs perhaps reacted more to that, with the various first half penalties, etc, or maybe it had nothing to do with it, IDK. PNG to me seemed to enjoy the hype more, and took advantage of the LP mistakes. This is just my own opinion but last years' PNG team had the '23 state championship and #1 ranking on their backs, and it wasn't until the Nederland loss, that the team turned a corner. They still had their weaknesses but they seemed to play more relaxed. This years' team so far is their own team with their own ambitions, 2 years removed from the championship, and they seem to be enjoying each game more and more. Quote

This years' team so far is their own team with their own ambitions, 2 years removed from the championship, and they seem to be enjoying each game more and more. They’ve been alternating in Wells (soph QB) at least one drive per game. IMHO, he is the more athletic with the better arm. Saenz is the 3 year starter. Wells played the last quarter or so of the game. I think I heard he was 14/17/100+ & TD. He had a drop in the end zone & the TE dropped one also before the penalty that set them back to 4th & 25 I think when they still had time enough to close it to one score with time left. Like a couple of Bailey’s, the ball hit them right in the hands. I hear the two QB’s help each other and work together well with no jealousy. So, I’m just thinking it may be good to start Wells once and see how it goes. You can always bring Saenz back in. The biggest issue to me is still the D. Of course, Bailey was throwing dimes last night. I think it would have been hard for any defense to stop. He was ON. En fuego! They said the 4th level of the press box was full of scouts. So, his stock hopefully just doubled. Quote
